  • I swear if youtube interrupts my videos with an advert one more time I'm punch straight through my screen

  • The quart (two pint) bottle of beer with screw top. What was the deposit on one of those? I had a couple when I was 18 some years back.

  • Threepence in old money......about 1.5new pence.

  • go on George

  • It's a tenor ukulele. It has 19 frets, interestingly (I've counted them on the DVD! 18 is the norm. I'm not sad, honestly!)

  • Look at the babe sat next to him ,imagine waking up to that every morning

  • @blobby1972 Aye, she's a hotty alright!

  • @blobby1972 hey at least they put fat birds in did you see the man but george was down to earth and well grounded doesnt need a fake woman lol

  • what ukulele is this, a soprano?

  • Bless George Formby, that man was born for two things: having a heart winning smile and playing a mean ukelele...

  • best song i heard ever and im manx woop =)

  • At 1,45 is the strumming pattern that I am learning right now, but hope to be as good as that one day.

  • @Bessines4761

It's called the split stroke, but the technique is the formby style.

Practice it every day and you'll get there!

  • in the 70,s when i last at the t t this was on the local pics all the time

  • this makes me glad to be a manx man =).

  • fantastic, george sure knew how to play that uke.

  • i love the TT go every year!!!!!! and <3 this song!

  • Mr. Formby was delightful.

  • love this piece and the TT to boot!

  • Manx Gp Yeh hey!

  • trying to learn the split stroke and am watching George's strumming hand. Pure genius.

  • this wonderful movie makes me yearn for those days. Everything was simpler and innocent. Thank God for George

  • @TheArchangelxxi Yeah, they said the most scandalous things in the most deviously clever ways. Not the crass stuff they do today.

In real life, I hear he rode a Norton International. i wish they still made bikes like that.

  • One for the old boys ... ( and my uncle Jack )

  • The best ever film I have watched it at least 500 times and i still do, best watched in the Strand cinema on the Isle of Man whilst eating a whole crab from Devrouse Kipper shop next door..Happy days

  • CHAMPION ! X

  • When I rode a motorbike I used to sing this to myself all the time!

  • Apparently my Great Aunt Fanny Shuttleworth taught George at Wigan in the short time he attended school- I always wondered if he was called George Shuttleworth in this film after her? If anyone from the G.F.Society has any info, I'd love to know!

  • this song is so much better than todays music

  • Best man in the whole world

  • Just check out that fatty just behind him to the right! It's Les Dawson's Ada!

  • Top film, Top man!

  • and the best wiganer award goes too......."mr George formby"

  • This song makes me miss the north! Manchester til I die!

  • Very cool

  • look at the fancy chourds george is playing in this clip!

  • Yeah, not the chords in the book! I was just trying to work out what he's doing. Assuming key of D, I reckon after G min he's going up to d#7 then d7. I've noticed before he used a strange fingering for that chord shape, he also uses it in the video for They Laughed when he does c#7, instead of barring the whole fret and putting one finger on the third string of the next fret he uses his index for strings 1 & 2, his middle for the 4th and ring for the 3rd!

  • NICE!

  • if i had to pick the most catchy formby song this would be it! good film as well race at the end is dead funny
