  • I loved it! I did miss some of the work, but I'm going to give it a try! Thank you!

  • Im 11 and I love to crotchet I tried this but I accidentally made a hat...but it's a really pretty hat...THANK YOU! ;)

  • i ant see what ur doing :(

  • I am trying to do this but for some reason it is not coming out. Is there any easier way?

  • @BunnyBooBeauty I will send you another tutorial.

  • Help! Every time I try this, it ends up a big stringy mess!!! I do it exactly how you show me too, and it wont work!

  • thanks :)

  • mine keeps closing it looks like an acorn

  • @newmoongirlz3 You are not working enough stitch through the circle

  • Um, the words are covering up your work, from the very beginning. I would love to love this, but...

  • @BashirsMomma That is because I have made newer videos and that is where the annotations are guiding you to. If you look above this comment, you will see my purple circle as a video response.

  • @tjw1963 Thank you!

  • @BashirsMomma oh well its pretty easy to get rid of them move your mouse to the stitch and exit it

  • That video was awesome, but I am a fast crocheter so it seemed rather slow to me lol.

  • @dragonlion5161 woa u must b soooo fast @ this. i cant even come close 2 catching up to the video. :) :) :)

  • good way to make coasters!!

  • so fast!!!

  • Love this. I have been trying to teach my sister in law to make a circle and somehow we always end up with a mess. Now we've both got it.

  • @Allycat2645 I am glad you got it. I am going to send you a playlist with the beginner crochet stitches.

  • can you go a little slower??? i get confused when you connect the first end of the six chain knots. i need a video that goes a little more slow. idk which part of the string to make into a chain. sry if tht didnt sound like it made sense =) thxx

  • @Majordo98 I do have several tutorials that go much slower. I will send you a playlist with the slower, beginner tutorials.

  • @tjw1963 Thank you

  • Fuck u

  • @mdt823 Somebody needs a hug!

  • @tjw1963 hi

  • :| your hands go out of the camera a lot. It's a good tutorial but it would be better if the hook was centered in the camera and not jumping out of the screen a lot.

  • @FoxLightstep I have made a new tutorial of the circle. This was one of my very first 4 years ago.

  • i love your tutorial but you are too fast!

  • Could this circle be turned into a Sphere?

  • Thanks a lot, you are the best. :)

  • thak q

  • that is so easy thanks

  • Are you a wizard?

  • .. Mine doesn't look like that. :/ Your's looks so tight and neat and mine is messy and has massive holes in it.

  • @LeahMichelleRoars When you are first learning crochet, your stitches and work will look messy. As you practice, you will fine tune your tension and your stitches will become more consistent. Keep practicing!

  • Hi I love you videos but Im left handed, does it matter which hand i use or do you have any videos for left handers. thank you

  • @TyLeimommy I have videos specifically for the left hand. I will send you the playlist.

  • @TyLeimommy I am not sure if the message with the playlist went through. You have friend lock enabled so I can't send a message

  • @tjw1963 oh ok ill fix it thank you very much!

  • @TyLeimommy sometimes on her videos it will say left handed version here in a box click that and you should get it

  • I don't know what people are talking about, this is the 1st crochet video I've watched where I've actually felt like I learned something. You guys should learn how to chain and double crochet before watching this, and you'll be fine. Afterall, this video IS titled "How to crochet a circle", not "How to chain, double crochet and crochet a circle"

  • @PamGabriel Thank you! I have a second channel with even more thorough crochet tutorials.

  • this vid sucks your a bad teacher just saying

  • @phinphan12169 You just don't want to learn how to crochet!

  • too fast.

  • Teresa, your tutorials are great! Thanks so much for posting them. Just wondering - does the chain 3 count as one of the 12 double crochet stitches in the beginning, or is it in addition to them? I'm trying to learn how to crochet in rounds, but so far my basket shapes are lopsided and there is a seam from chain to go up another row. Still haven't mastered the use of the stitch marker technique yet. Thanks again! -- Sherrie

  • i understood the whole thing...it was easy, yes her hands were in the way sometimes and yes the camera went out of postion somewhat but it was preety easy to follow : /

  • her hands are in the way of everything!

  • @asiaa7x I do read and answer comments!! There is a yellow annotation on the right of the video, to a playlist with new tutorials. They have a lot of slow motion with better video quality.

  • You go off camera at first so i don't know what you did? D:

    & You go too fast.

  • @EternallyEmma There is a yellow annotation on the right of the video, to a playlist with new tutorials. They have a lot of slow motion with better video quality.

  • All these videos are to hard! i dont understand even one.i dont know about all these double stichin crap FORGET THIS!

  • @Missy2010Diana Why is it too hard? I think Teresa is doing a great job with trying to teach everyone how to crochet. You're not going to pick this up overnight. It takes practice. I've been crocheting for years and there are things that I don't know still so don't be so quick to give up!

  • @SexyNole07 I know but I tried doing a other way and made a lilttle hat for my finger lol its so funny

  • O_O I never considered crocheting over the tail. That's ohsohelpful! =]!

  • I got so lost:/

  • It's difficult but I made it.

  • it's so difficult, but I made it

  • @mrsdune75 Keep practicing and it will get easier. I will send you more video tutorials with a lot of slow motion.

  • tjw1963 Hello I have seen some scrubbies that have two layers but are not stitched together at the sides.. all one continuious can you show us how to do that? would be greatly appreciated..

    thanks,

  • @MKBuddy1 I would need to see a picture.

  • @tjw1963 i dont know how to put a pic on this :-(

  • @izzyorigami11 Keep practicing and you will get the hang of it.

  • i have a reasonable question. i did one of these already with the type of yard you are using but now i am making a project for my son using baby yarn . is there a difference ? i noticed you have to crochet the start of it a little more , like around the inner circle . just wondering if i was correct or not on that part.

  • @AshlessandAnt The baby yarn will be smaller. You will need to use more stitches and rounds to make up the difference in size with smaller yarn.

  • I have posted the beginner crochet stitch playlist as an annotation in the video and in the video details. All new video with a lot of slow motion.

  • Sooo helpful

  • Hi Teresa...A question-- When I crochet a circle the rows start to curl up, looking like a beanie type hat, or a cupped look...Can you help me? What I am doing wrong?

  • @kalikitten9 If you want your circle to get larger, you will continue to increase stitches on the following rounds. This will be putting two stitches in the previous stitches evenly around.

  • how do you make it without the big hole in the middle? thats more a a doughnut :P

  • @happyunface You can work a smaller chain at the beginning or you can use the beginning tail to sew the hole shut.

  • @happyunface or instead of starting with a chain use the magic circle where you crochet around it & pull the tail to draw the circle closed view the video called "Magic Circle - Crochet" its by the same person who made this video she does do a great job.

  • So when you say pick up those 2 loops is that a slip stitch?

  • So when you say pick up those 2 loops is that a slip stitch?

  • can u do this for lefties please :)

  • my hook is with a different hook on the top so its kinda hard to put the yarn through lols but its still good

  • I'm trying to make a 'tam'..the very first part was useful to me...having to go back in the first chain to create the circle...the rest of this vid is just WAYYY too fast to be helpful.

  • @maxem79 I sent you a playlist with many hats.

  • I just started crocheting today and i watched all your beginner videos and i think im doing pretty good but my yarn is very thin and hard to tell what i'm doing. do you have any recommendations on what type of yarn a beginner should use?

  • @princess4eva1193 I would recommend that you use a 4 ply yarn. It is going to be heavier and easier for you to hold on to.

  • wow, thank you so much! I was following along in the Company's Coming Crafts book of crocheting and got stuck on how to work into a ring, thanks for clearing that up for me!

  • wow, thank you so much! I was following along in the Company's Coming Crafts book of crocheting and got stuck on how to work into a ring, thanks for clearing that up for me!

  • how do you make the slipknot every time i try it always unfolds and goes back to a straight line

  • I started a blanket & have 10 rows of double crochet & 1 row of treble crochet going so far. I was wondering what stitches would be cool and simplistic for this blanket (I want a variety of corresponding stitches to look cool) Thanks :)

  • @EricaDoesCrochet You could try some popcorn stitches.

  • I did this for 30 mins but still i didnt make a circle =(

  • THANK YOU!!

  • how long have you been doing this?

  • @owballet I have been crocheting for 28 years.

  • why does mine curve upward? Its ends up looking like a ball.. am i just doing it too tight?

  • why does mine curve upward? Its ends up looking like a ball.. am i just doing it too tight?

  • srry but this tutorial really sucked

  • Lol I love the title.

  • ugghhhh i dont get it

  • Your circle is similar to a pattern i have. But the beginning is different and i'm confused by it. It says: Ch.2, Rnd1: work 6sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join; work proceeds in continuous spiral. What does it mean by work 6sc in 2nd ch from hook? is it that there will be an end hanging off it? or am i just over thinking this? i understand the rest of the pattern, the beginning is just confusing me...

    Danke

    Ram

  • @Ram750 Working in the second chain from the hook is another starting technique. You go ahead and work the 6 single crochet in the same chain. The continual round is worked when you do not join. You will work the first stitch in the top of the first single crochet and then continue crocheting around according to your instructions. The continual round eliminates the seam that will happen with joining.

  • i cant do it, it impossible i cant get thr the first 25 seconds

  • can you use this method to start a ball?

  • This is how you would start to make a round filled shape.

  • do u have a video on how to crochet a semi circle?

  • I sent you a link to 1/2 circles.

  • What is the best way to cast on (I'm not sure what the term for it is) thread onto your crochet hook?

  • You make a chain and then work your stitches through the chain.

  • tnx.I'm working on a hat for my teddy.

  • How do you do increase stitches?

  • You put 2 crochet stitches in the same stitch, placing them evenly around the round you are working on.

  • Sorry 4 the late reply.Thanks.And after I read your reply to me,I found a video that you did that shows you how to increase. And my hat is done now. Thanks again.

  • THANKS I was looking for how to crocha a hat but the other 1s were not understandung now im making 1

  • thank you so much

  • This is great. I did 25 double crochets in the first circle and it made it nice a full. I love it

  • Thank you. :)

  • so what happens if the edge starts getting all bendy, like i cant lay it on a flat surface..?

  • That means you need to do some increase stitches.

  • thank you!

but. why do we need circles? what can we use them for?

  • You use a circle to make a hat. You can make rugs, potholder, motifs, blankets, animals.

  • hi am i dont really get it =(

  • What are you not getting?

  • thank you so much Teresa, it s really nice and easy to understand, love your videos

  • Thank you. :)

  • Thank you. This is a wonderful video for beginners. I can now make circles. Yahoo!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • can you please tell me what size hook and what type of yarn u are using. thanx alot

  • Size I crochet hook, 4-ply worsted weight yarn.

  • Is it okay if i use a size H hook?

  • Yes you can. This is a practice video so you can use any size hook you want practice with.

  • ummmm lol is it ok if i use a size c hook?

  • Yes, you can use a C hook.

  • what can u make using circles?

  • You can make hats, motifs, flower, applique or doilies. The circle is a basic skill necessary to make more complex projects in rounds.

  • When I try to do my 12 double crochets in the first circle, I only get to about eight before I run out of room. However, it seems like my double crochets are a lot smaller than yours so I'm not sure what is going on...

  • You may be crocheting tighter, have a smaller hook, smaller yarn. There are a lot of possibilities as to why your stitches could be smaller. What you need to do is grab your chain, then the stitches and tug the stitches to the right so you have more room.

  • can we crochet it with a plain strait needle that u use to nit?????

  • You will need a hook in order to crochet.

  • شكرا

  • Thank you. :)

  • everytime is start the second or third row. it supposed to lay flat but it doesnt

  • Are you wanting to make something specific? This video is showing the basic steps of a circle with two rounds. To go further, you will need to increase stitches in additional rounds. That means doing two stitches per stitch, I have several hat videos, scarf videos and flowers. Let me know if there is something I can help you find.

  • All I have to say is that I seriously love you lol.

I'm 19 now.. and I learned to crochet when I was really little.. I learned by watching so I really don't know any of the technical terms relating to crochet patterns and all. i seriously though I would never learn how to crochet a circle. I really want to make a draw string bag and thanks to you I just made my first ever circle.. that actually looks like one. Thanks a lot <3

  • Thank you very much. :) Have you see the two drawstring bags that I have posted? I have pouch and a bag made from the beanie cap.

  • I don't think I saw those.. then again there are a lot of videos to sort through and I may have missed it.

I finished my first bag. Took about the time of me listening to a whole CD. It wasn't to neatly done but it was the tester.. and so I'm pretty proud of it.

I just like your videos because they help the visual learner like me. My friend also likes them since she's the same.

There will be a lot of bags being made now <3

  • Have fun making bags. Feel free to ask questions and post comments should you need help or just feel like posting a comment.

  • hey i watched your video on how to make a hat and i always mess up somehow. and its usualy when i joing the beginning stitch with the last one and it goes all wrong

  • What seems to be happening that makes you think it is wrong?

  • Saying "here" and moving the work completely out of the frame is extremely irritating.

  • I have several variations of the circle.

  • this helps alot! i'm just starting out and this helps!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Nice guide, I finally learned something from a crochet video.

  • Thank you. I have 220+ crochet video tutorials posted so let me know if you need help finding something and feel free to ask questions anytime.

  • Thank you for all your amazing videos!! I've been trying to figure out how to make a hat and now with your help - it's sooooo much easier!! You have the best videos on the internet!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!

  • You are welcome. I appreciate your comments and feedback. Please post your questions if you need help.

  • I cannot tell you how much your vids have helped! I watch them all repeatedly! You are the best!!! Keep up the awesome work!!

  • Thank you. Post questions if you need help.

  • do you know how to do a double cluster?

  • I know how to do a double crochet cluster. Is that what you are asking about?

  • I have a video tutorial of the cluster. Type or copy and paste the following words in to the youtube video search: Crochet Cluster Stitch tjw1963 Click on the thumbnail with the pink yarn.

  • I have a bit of confusion right at the beginning. Did you count the chain3 as one of the double crochet, or did you chain3, THEN make 12 double crochet?

  • Chain 3, which counts as the first double crochet, then 11 double crochet in the circle.

  • Ok thanks!

  • I did three rows of double crochet but i wanted to add a circle in the middle. can you show me how? thanks

  • I will need more details in what you are looking for. You want to change colors? Applique a smaller circle to the one you just completed. I just don't know what you mean by circle in the middle.

  • I can not crochet HELP

  • I would suggest becoming familiar with the chain, then the basic stitches which are single crochet, half-double crochet, then double crochet.

  • thank u ,u taught mee how 2crochet!

  • Thank you for your kind comment. I appreciate it very much.

  • Please - do your demonstration MUCH more slowly AND on camera. Otherwise, I'm sorry to say this, but there's no point in posting a tutorial video.

  • It is unfortunate that people choose to write comments like this before looking at the evolution of the site. I was using a digital camera with a memory card to record this early video. This was one of the first 10 that I ever did. Back then, Youtube only allowed 10 minutes of time so it is hard to get in a lot of information and slow motion in 10 minutes. Kind of a crappy comment to have to hear for something I am doing for free.

  • Thanks for leaning your expertise on crocheting in video form. The speed should not be a problem....if so play the video back. I just found your site and simply love it....Again, thank you and keep up the good work.

  • Thank you janREBEL, I appreciate your comment. I have 220+ crochet video tutorials to choose from.

  • ok i am making pot holders for christmas i thought it would be cute to add some red and green beads to the borders or maybe just the corners of the holder. My question is do you know how to do this if nt do you know where i can find out how to do this. Pls respond.

    Thanks,

    Vera

  • I do have a tutorial for adding beads with crochet. You can copy and paste the following into the youtube search and it will come up. Crochet Tip 4: How to add Beads

  • Do you think that you can explain which loop you go though when you say go through the center loop.

    And go a little slower.

Because I crocheted when I was 10 and now im 14 and your video is really fustrating me.

  • I would invite you to look through the other video's that are already made slower.

  • I see that you crochet very fast. Can you do a demonsration on how to hold the yarn the way you do it?

  • This was one of my very first tutorials. I have slowed many of them down since then. I do have a demonstration on how I hold my thread/yarn.

  • Okay, then I apologize for my comment (above). This video is definitely moving too fast.

  • when you go to make the 12 DC which hole do you stick it in?

  • Through the center loop.

  • ohh ok thank you so much, i always get confused at that part lol, your vidoes are awsome, thanx!

  • you are welcome. :)
