Hello YouTube and fellow Hip-Hop heads! My friend Duff and I wrote a rap to this KMD instrumental. It is the first video in my "Favorites" so if you have the time, you can go to my channel, check it out, and let us know what you think. Thank you very much! :-)
@ScaldaniBagni is that they KMD got more political when they started hanging around the groups you mentioned. Hell the cover of black bastards was a political statement
My theory is that KMD had a serious change in lyrics and material when they stopped hanging out with the Leaders of the New School (tribe, jungle brothers, de la soul, 3rd bass, brand nubian, et al.) and started hanging with the unfortunately less successful Constipated Monkey Crew (Kurious Jorge, Monsta Island Czars, et al). Leaders of the New was more black national, socially conscious, lighthearted. CM Crew was more violent, more in tuned with the gangsta rap of that era. Just my theory.
beautiful. i sometimes question if it's possible to replicate that early 90s hip-hop sound. sometimes artists gget close, but it's rare these days. this comes from a time when hip-hop was just about FUN and expressing yourself, period.
I knew about them before the berrics, but seriously hip hop history is the best segment on the berrics. It warms my heart to see some new fans of the golden age of hip hop.
@oiCrushx it is MF Doom... Doom ( Zev Love) and his bro dj subroc are in this group. Well were.. Dj Subroc died.. and doom went into total seclusion and out of the light for about a decade and reemerged as mf doom.
@comedybenj it's satirical you empty headed jizz bucket, you don't listen to hiphop, the fuck were you doing here anyway? fuckin beat it kid, you sound like a moron
@sixpackofsprit i like this one, humrush, peachfuzz, black bastards, smoking that shit, who me, subrocs misson, plumskinzz. Its safe to say they are all good though
I don't see how a label would drop them over Sub-Roc's passing. Most companies would milk that. Don't get the logic in that. Not 100% sure, but from what i heard, it was the art work. Anyhow, R.I.P. Sub-Roc. KMD has given me enough flavor for a lifetime.
I remember the bullshit this group had tp go through behind the cover. The idea was to execute a stereotype. Elektra records were really chicken-hearted by dropping KMD from it's roster.
@chuckuufarlee its so true. its so sad how hypocritical and douchy alot of people are. what is a white person to say the cover is racist?? its like a asian guy making fun of some one with squinted eyes and a small dick(lol). but seriously, they didnt even bother to think past the picture and actually think about what it was about. instead, they just declare it racist, pull it off of shelves in music stores, and drop the group, the same week DOOM's brother died.
@bigddagenius Damn! I didn't knoe Subrock ied the same wek they were dropped, now THAT's fucked up! Some reporter had caught an early glimpse of the artwork and then had the genius idea to condemn the group in a music magazine (I forget which one it was). She did this without even bothering to ask KMD what the artwork and album title symbolized. She later "regreted" that her actions led to KMD getting dropped. So, I blame that bitch for what happemed.
@ratfinkskates All those lables were scared shitless of any type of corporate and public flack. Ice-T went through that same bullshit with "Cop Killer".
@bigddagenius by they time they made/released black bastards they only had doom and subroc still in the group, so without subroc there's was no more group. ... i dont see how that doesnt make sense. ...
@st0nerrxkx true, you have a point. but even if subroc didnt die, they would have dropped them. if anything, it gave elektra another excuse to drop the group. it was a bitch move by elektra if you ask me.
@bigddagenius i agree, it was indeed a bitch move, no matter what the reason. but we almost have to be a little thankful, for without the drop from elektra, doom wouldnt have become the villain that he is today.
@chuckuufarlee yeah, thats a subtle way to put it. Doom told me all that back in 2000, when I interviewed him for the Source. The Source purposefully fucked my story up by mispelling Elektra (as "Electra").
They did KMD so dirty. But thats okay, though. Elektra hasn't been doing good over the past 10 years. I wonder why.
I didn't say I didn't like what a niggy know at all, I just liked that Remix beat and Dooms verse a bit better. As for it being their best song I must Disagree....Subrocs mission, Humrush, peachfuzz, WHO ME? are my personal faves. Also if you listen to the Mr Hood CD,you'll hear Zev reference DOOM on I think it was 808 man.
@lamojkjk1 1 they had no right to call this cover racist, thats being a hipocrite if you ask me, 2 they dropped him from the label the same week his brother died, that pretty fucked up, dont you think???
fuck doom has given so much to the true hip hop world check out other doom (i know it wasnt just doom who made this song) songs also sick like "doomsday" "sorcerers" "red and gold" all good stuff haa
