"Screen" is a one dimensional plane. "Sea" is a bumpy mass of matter. You have a sea of green, in order to "scrog" your plants remain UNDER the screen. Everytime a shoot goes above you tuck it back under. Thus, spreading the growth under a SCREEN OF GREEN. Nice SOG.
Good ScrOG'ing comes with practice and knowing the growth pattern of the strain your growing.. Best way to learn ....? Just get one started and learn as you go, it's tricky the first few times...
We are currently doing a scrog grow and it is out first time! please watch and stay updated because every week we will be coming out with new video of its progress!! THANK YOU FOR ALL SUPPORTERS!!
The mesh stays on for the rest of the grow, when you harvest you have to cut every branch going through the screen, or you end up dragging lower buds through and damaging them...
@chachathehun The trick is to know how much the strain you're growing is going to stretch after you flip them.
You want to maybe fill the screen to 60-70% whilst vegging and then rely on the stretch to fill the rest of the screen (very strain and pheno dependent). I LST my plants early in veg to flatten it out pre-screen. Everyone has different methods...
Man, I'm doing my first scrog now. I'm really grateful for your explanation about the nodes lower down the branches. I've not topped any of my stems yet, I'm 5 weeks into veg (net is higher than usual), and I wasn't sure how the lower nodes were going to fill up the net, but I have been pulling back down and moving out towards the edges of the net. Is topping essential? I've read a few guids (ICMag, Grasscity etc) and topping wasn't heavily talked about. FIM failed, so have a long stem to train!
this tech seems useless and old- once the nodes and what not have pass the netting, do you like trim and remove all that's under the rest of the netting?
Someone enlighten me so i may have a better insight of this
@l000 and @Avedis, l00 you are correct. I was taught not to weave the plant, it can hinder nutrient flow as well as break your ladies if they are not healthy or full of water. I feel much better to always pull the tops of the branch down and feed it under and out to the desired location in the screen. The nodes that are lower on the branch will, by force of Auxin disruption, will grow right up and fill in the area...Look for my next video that will be a photo slideshow -
I am doing a scrog myself, I never have to tie branches, the plant does all the work as it grows into the screen, all i do is weave the main branches where i want them.
I've always been told and have read in numerous "Grow Bibles", that you DO NOT want to pull the nodes through the screen but to use it as a guide, always keeping the nodes under the screen and adjusting it's height when necessary. It's been mentioned that you risk stunting or even breaking the plant doing it your way. Any insight on that perspective?
modern cameras have a locator setting to show where on the map the pictures were taken. cool feature for traveling & such. THE COPS are now using it to pinpoint where 'crimes' are taking place. BE SURE to either disable that setting or buy a camera that doesnt have it or can be altered. spread the word.
hi bro , a question , got 24 clones there into 3weeks now, am running them under 2 600 hps lights , etc , wanna no how do i veg for , done 4 grows now but the cold gothem all the time , ive now invested in a heater , all stems are nice and green , its an unone strain , i think it could be s8/ rhino , i want at least an oz per plant , i have space to put each pot at least a foot apart and the heaight is 7fft , iam going to add red dragon bloom as ive heard it will pimp my yeild, any advice plz
Thanks for explaining how to run a set up I'm coming from a bucket system from my first grow and wanted to do a 8 plant site dwc with 3.75" cups in a 2x4x6.5 room and your vid made it clear on how to start it
that looks madd leafy....would it be alright if you were to pluck all those leaves off, leaving alot more expsure too bud sites, or will that just fuck the grow up.
I did one like this, just like you i filled my screen almost entirely BEFORE starting flower process. Thanks for the tip about not twisting up the angles to much for nutrient flow, wow dude thats epic! Definitely something i WAS guilty of.
One question, how high above the screen is the "norm" regarding finished height ie from net height to the end of the bud, just wondering about light pnetration as it gets very, very busy above the net, lots of bud sites yes but lots of leaves!
Thank you for your response treeguy57. I learned from HighBreed who is a Scrog Master. I am doing what I see and am told. Then when I can do what he does, then, and only then will I try my own ways.
This is how I think it is best to learn form another, by copying just what they do, to the T!
If I did not tie the branch up, the nodes would have grown just right straight up towards the light, but I didn't have the time to let them do that so I assisted the process along by tying them up
I'm planning on installing a 2X1.3X1.3 room and i am looking for the most productive way of growing. Do you think working with the scrog method will help increasing my yield?
why don't you leave the branch where it is, and train the tops through the screen. that whole under-the-screen tying off shit is a lot of unnecessary work. why would y ou top it? why not just train it back into the screen? i wouldn't be advocating these techniques. a lot of waste and extra work.

How long do you leave the mesh, because I see in your final grow stage you remove it? And how do you remove it without hurting the plants?
