well said as usual. Dwyer I did hope that you would, to play Devil's advocate, address the different developments that changed the game.... This being the one point anyone could use to possibly justify this comparison between Jordan and Lebron. It could be argued that as a natural shooter, given his reach, his wingspan compared to his body etc that Jordon was also one of the best.

Land him on a new team & he takes them to the finals in his first year there.

Lebron has better court vision,he's a better passer.When he isn't scoring he's setting up a teammate with the assist.

Lebron is the better rebounder.A more well rounded overall player.

Jordan scored more points because you could only play man defense in that era.

Imagine how many points Lebron would put up with one guy guarding him.

Jordan had more steals because in that era you could "hand check" your opponents (get physical with the ball handler).

Now,you can't touch the ball handler without getting called for a foul.

Imagine if Lebron with his imposing stature being allowed to "press" his opponents.

Lebron is a student of FAME. JORDAN was a student of Pain. Both are good citizens but on the court no one brought order to the court like Jordan. Magic was just as real, just not as athletic.

James needs to win one. Danny Ferry, did a lousy job of surrounding him with complementary players during his stay in Cleveland. Insert him with the Cavaliers teams of the late 80s and early 90s with Doughrty, Price, Nance, Hot Rod Williams, and Lebron would have numerous rings.

@mohogany77 the "fadeaway" was indefensible without fouling, same with the "skyhook". this is because the shots both create their own space. It's not a matter of easier to defend because some shots are not defendable. Jordan also had an "automatic" inside game due to his Large hand size (same size as Olajuwon's) giving him supreme control.

@beniceokay ANd it's not just that... Jordan would make you think he was driving the ball to the basket and then sopt in the blink of an eye with a quick mid-range jumper. He would create distance from the person defending him just enough to catch the ball, spin around and have the ball out of his hands before his defender could catch up to him. It was made possible through skill and ability.

@mohogany77 I clearly said "NEARLY ALWAYS". It is a shot that is practiced repeatedly and mastered for reliability... thus, it will increase your scoring average. Having a higher scoring average throughout your career DOES add to your greatness. Also, you never saw that shot being easier to defend the longer Jordan used it. It was consistently effective throughout his career. Look at the actual history rather than formulating a theory based on what you perceive as logic.

jordan was the greatest of all time, arguably, but superior because he already established legacy while lebron is looking for his first ring...but scary part about lebron is that the conversation is already as deep as it is, when the young man is still learning how to get better, but purely on physicality, without the intelligence diligence and discipline to win the records that MJ got, lebron has a ways to go to even compete, but on the floor he is an awesome specimen on D and on O...both ways
