Dwight Howard wouldn't have been shit playing in the '80s and '90s. He'd have been lost in the crowd among Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, Mourning, ect. Even old ass versions of Kareem and Moses Malone.
I find it funny that some people think Lebron is light year's ahead of Jordan athletically. Mike had his vertical measured at 48 inches and ran a forty time in the 4.3's.
well said as usual. Dwyer I did hope that you would, to play Devil's advocate, address the different developments that changed the game.... This being the one point anyone could use to possibly justify this comparison between Jordan and Lebron. It could be argued that as a natural shooter, given his reach, his wingspan compared to his body etc that Jordon was also one of the best.
Lebron is a student of FAME. JORDAN was a student of Pain. Both are good citizens but on the court no one brought order to the court like Jordan. Magic was just as real, just not as athletic.
James needs to win one. Danny Ferry, did a lousy job of surrounding him with complementary players during his stay in Cleveland. Insert him with the Cavaliers teams of the late 80s and early 90s with Doughrty, Price, Nance, Hot Rod Williams, and Lebron would have numerous rings.

As much as I hate your boxing prediction, this is an excellent video, Dwyer. Jordan all the way. I thought it was not even worth discussing but since some great players like Scottie Pippen brought this up, why not compare this two guys.
I would like to see more of this. Maybe compare Dirk Nowitzki and Robert Parish!
5 seconds left? i want kobe shooting/if dwight howard was playing back in MJs prime defensive years, who's to say howard does not get the nod over MJ?...there are alot of what ifs, but bottom line, rings are the hardware that count, and MJ is was the greatest of all time, most people can agee....and Lebron might be the best in the game today, now that Kobe sees his slide down into past the prime years...only the future will answer who is the best of all time between MJ and Lebron!
After Lebron james left the cavs... then Illgaskas leaves and joins heat.... and the head coach Mike Brown of the cavs coaching the Lakers..... Cleveland looks like it may disinergate and break before even thinking about winning a champion before the Heat.. or even have a good regular season to start of strong... Ohio Cav is ghost in the NBA.. no awesome players,coach,fans.... ITS GAME OVER FOR THEM
LBJ is athletic superior to Jordan... he' sable to gaurd anyone on the court and can play any position probably even Center... Jordan is something else too.. they different though... but Jordan so far is untouchable... LBJ has 7 or 8 years to reach for the sky that is MJ
@mohogany77 the "fadeaway" was indefensible without fouling, same with the "skyhook". this is because the shots both create their own space. It's not a matter of easier to defend because some shots are not defendable. Jordan also had an "automatic" inside game due to his Large hand size (same size as Olajuwon's) giving him supreme control.
@beniceokay ANd it's not just that... Jordan would make you think he was driving the ball to the basket and then sopt in the blink of an eye with a quick mid-range jumper. He would create distance from the person defending him just enough to catch the ball, spin around and have the ball out of his hands before his defender could catch up to him. It was made possible through skill and ability.
@mohogany77 I clearly said "NEARLY ALWAYS". It is a shot that is practiced repeatedly and mastered for reliability... thus, it will increase your scoring average. Having a higher scoring average throughout your career DOES add to your greatness. Also, you never saw that shot being easier to defend the longer Jordan used it. It was consistently effective throughout his career. Look at the actual history rather than formulating a theory based on what you perceive as logic.
"Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play in the game, but I may go as far to say LeBron James is probably the greatest player to ever play the game," Scottie Pippen .......HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Never thought he was funny as hell...man this shit is hilarious.
Scottie pippen former basketball player turned stand up comedian.WTF!!!
@mohogany77 He never said it was necessary.... he's pointing it out based on the reliability of it. When a player has an automatic shot you nearly always can count on it to go in the basket before the ball ever leaves their hand. It only adds to your greatness.
I literally know nothing about these guys except to say that obviously I've heard of Michael Jordan and to some extent I've just about heard of Lebron James - but let's be clear, outside of America both of these guys barely make an indentation on the fat pudgy face of 'do I give a fuck?' The sport of basketball is, by turns, simple, stupid, obvious, boring, ridiculous, vastly and laughably repetitive, meaningless, hair-brained and primitive. A game for monkeys played by enormous monkeys.
jordan was the greatest of all time, arguably, but superior because he already established legacy while lebron is looking for his first ring...but scary part about lebron is that the conversation is already as deep as it is, when the young man is still learning how to get better, but purely on physicality, without the intelligence diligence and discipline to win the records that MJ got, lebron has a ways to go to even compete, but on the floor he is an awesome specimen on D and on O...both ways
also lets not downplay how GREAT of a player scottie pippen was. when mike and pip where on their game(often) scottie and mike were both the 2 BEST PLAYERS on the court..
pippen was a great player. pippen is arguably the best small forward ever. of course pippen comments were crazy, barkley say crazy stuff everyday. you also have to understand what context pip meant. you cant take an interview and use 1 comment and blow it out of context. lebron skillset and gifts are unmatched.......now lets not forget that MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER...no doubt. i think pippen meant lebron has a chance to be
It's pretty funny how people say Jordan wouldn't be half the player without Pippen. Someone tell me did Pippen ever win MVP?, the last i checked players that are awarded the MVP honor make everyone around them better which Jordan did 5 times.
Go fuck urself just for comparing prince james to king jordan

Pluck him out of the starting lineup & the Cavs are in LAST place.
Land him on a new team & he takes them to the finals in his first year there.
Lebron has better court vision,he's a better passer. When he isn't scoring he's setting up a teammate with the assist.
Lebron is the better rebounder.A more well rounded overall player.

Jordan scored more points because you could only play man defense in that era.
Imagine how many points Lebron would put up with one guy guarding him.
Jordan had more steals because in that era you could "hand check" your opponents (get physical with the ball handler).
Now,you can't touch the ball handler without getting called for a foul.
Imagine if Lebron with his imposing stature being allowed to "press" his opponents.
Lebron took the lowly Cavaliers to the finals if I'm not mistaken.Pluck hi

Mike just has accomplished much. I think once Labron wins a championship he won't have that fire to win another.

Blahhh... All of the players in the past are greater than the players now. They do it for the money now, before, it was done for the game.
And I still like Wade better than Lebron haha

As if this comparison isn't silly enough to begin with, how many times did Jordan's team blow a 15 point 4th quarter lead at home in the Finals?
Let's stick to comparing LBJ to Oscar Robertson before we put him in the same breath as Michael Jordan.
