  • dude, thats not cool, take it down. Rest in peace guy!

  • Probably static on clothing. The tanker should be earthed and you should earth yourself out too before going near it.If he is getting up on top he should be wearing static conductive boots.People become complacent with petrol, I even saw a lady at my local garage smoking in her car! I kid you not!

  • That really sucks. Poor fellow.

  • RIP

  • Dear All,I'm were totally FUOD

  • im not coming to my station tomorow...

  • It can't have been a mobile phone, it's been proven that that's a myth.

  • @StealthR31

What?? There are people out there who believe mobile phones can ignite gasoline/petrol??

People will believe any ridiculous shit.

  • holy fucking shit man this is serious.. i really hope the guy is ok

  • @Disposition446 I guess you didn't read the video description. No he is not ok. He died 3 days later.

  • @Disposition446 yeah nigga you saw this shit damm but he die 3 days later

  • Balloon static.

  • I saw a video of the same kind, issue there was the guy drew his mobile phone while he was at the top of the tanker which caused the explosion

  • Comment removed

  • You just advertised how stupid you are. Poor stupid racist. Lol..

  • haha yup indians

  • @XXleobodybuilerXX this was in brazil not india fuckin dumbass lol

  • that was funny shit man only a dumb yank would do that

  • @killieguyno1 it was in brazil...

  • Price of a newspaper.. $1.00

Price of a movie ticket... $8.50

Using a lighter to see inside a tanker truck

WITHIN A GODDAMN GAS STATION... Potential Darwin Award.

  • @alucard1931 it says he was using a mobile phone and the static electricty caused it NOT using a ligher it say it in the discription if you took the time to read...FYI

  • @lancestar2 What I wrote in the description was the info I got in a note which I found with the video. Since its causing confusion, I have replaced it with news on the accident. To be clear, as of now, I have NO idea what sparked off the explosion.

  • I stand corrected ... but using something that can ignite to peer inside a tanker truck is still material for a potential Darwin Award.

  • wtf was he thinking!!!... that is gas... flamable!!, you won`t smoke near by...

  • haha you should see the video of the guy trying to steal gas from a pump by using a blowtorch that was priceless

  • Now, thats real civil manners...

  • not fake, i saw it on tv

  • if you look closely, i thing he take a lighter in is pocket to see in the hole...wow, so stupid....

  • hope he survived :o

  • Hope he didn't. Just think of the horrible way you'll live and pain afterwards.

  • hoooooly shit

  • haa bib how much gas you say you have hold on I check it myself ahhhhhaaahhh what the heeellllll

  • burn! mother fucker burn!

  • If you look closely, he was smoking as he opened the lid.

  • not one bit

  • ...... the guy is laying there burning and the one guy just is like "hm what the fuck is going on over HERE!!" just ignoring him a bit

  • OMG THIS IS HORRIBLE!!! WOW POOR GUY!

  • Wow, he was burning really good from head to toe..musta hurt

  • cell phones dont cause gas station fires

static discharge between the guy and the car

DONT WORRY ABOUT CELL PHONES AND GAS STATIONS

  • that was definitely caused by static electricity, you can see the man rubbing his leg before he bent down to open the valve. i saw this on mythbusters, and some fire fighting training videos

  • The most likely cause of most explosioins is from static charge of the vehicle itself... the vehicle should be grounded first before fuel lines are connected or tanks are opened.

  • fuckin bean

  • OMG !!! What's the cause of explosion ?

  • don't use phone when you were at the gas station..

  • Its been proven that cell phones at gas stations cannot cause explosions.

  • they can when they ring, its basic science

  • they can't, it's proven ,i saw the show where it was proven

  • what happened to the man? that's horrible

  • Comment removed

  • wow how did this happen.

  • welp either somkers car engine still running or static electricity

  • today i went on a walk to a gas station,i walked in got some food, and as i just came out the doors of the gas station and was about to walk,i heard loud scrapeing behind me,i turned around fast just in time to see a car going over the curbe of the front of the gas station, hitting a metal thing of propane tanks...i was about three feet away...

  • that sucks....

  • its in the middle east..notice the license plate...arabic. lol couldve been a failed terrorist attack! lol i wonder...what if he was checkin the level of the tanker with a lighter? he did bend over like he was gonna look down in it lol

  • this is no in Portugal!!!!!

  • At 1.25 if u pause u can see the driver, it's like he's ignoring what happens and then he rush to help the guy on fire

  • dude at first I laughed becasue I didn't expect but I watch it again and it still suppireses me

  • hahahahahah k pendeho we

  • dude that poor guy thats sad

  • did u guys see the driver when he got out it looked like he ran ??!?! what was that

  • No I think he was trying to get something to put the guy out or something then he ran too the guy

  • it looks like he took a lighter from his pocket to see whats in the tank thinking fire and gas don't mix? stupid! i feel bad he lern't the hard way but nice video gets a messege out for the smokers out there

  • iS CELLPHONE CUASE THE EXPLOSION IDIOT!

  • Strange, direct access to GAS is/should be protected by some valves.

  • That's a Mercedes truck!

  • Correction... that WAS a Mercedes truck...

  • lol

  • The guy took something out of the pocket just before the explosion...that must have caused an electric charge or something

  • lol he probably lit up a cigarrette

  • Give me a brake you guys:The dude was a rookie at this job and please who the hell would unload from the top of the tanker? like someone here mentioned! he probably just wanted to see how much gas he had and leave the lid open to unload faster from the ground as you can see on the bottom of the tank has outlets to unload MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE!

  • He used his cell phone to light the inside of the tank to see the gas level. As we all know, or should know, is that cell phones are dangerous to use around gas because the older models can release a spark inside which can ignite the gasoline fumes.

So, Sherlock, we can safely say that your thorough investigation and brilliant assertion that he killed himself is debunked.

  • To anoopkn:

It's not Portugal, it happened in São Paulo, Brazil, in November 2007. The guy used his cell phone to illuminate the tank and check the level of gasoline (!). He died with 95% of his body burned.

  • this is wht happens if you fart too hard in gas station lol

  • YOU ARE SO FUNNY AND CLEVER SETHIOZ!!!

    The guy died, man.

  • omg after watching it closely again what an idiot! he removes a shammy (very fine cloth, i.e lots of friction) from his left pocket after he opened the lid.. then he wipes the spilt gas around the top of the lid when he wipes it he creates enough friction to ignite on of the millions of fumes coming out of the gas..

  • marshall is very much correct as fuel it self is not flamable the fumes are.. stick a match directly in gas.. nothing happens (dont try it) it almost seems idiotic to empty from the top not only that but its inconvient as u could use gravity if it was at the bottom.. but u can see he knows hes fucked moves away then looks back in to see if it lit and then voosh!

  • no the dumbass waring baggy clothing created enough static charge from his clothing rubbing against him so that when he opened the top of the tanker he ignited the fumes that got built of from the transport of the gas.

Thats why you see gas tankers emptying from from the BOTTOM of the truck here in America

and aragon3530, go back to science class you paranoid freak

  • For someone who tells others how stupid they are, you're not a shining example of brilliance yourself. It was a spark inside his phone which he used to illuminate the inside of the tank. It was all over the news last year.

  • only a dumbass belives what they say in news ;) news are manipulated just to make ppl afraid of things that are totally harmless and only a total idiot is able to blow himself up with a phone. if you throw a match or burning smoke into gas tank then it doesnt blow up !

ive tried it myself, several times and seen in mythbusters too.

  • Did you seriously just say that the news frivolously lies to us for no reason? Are you insinuating that "the news" would just make up details about this story just to scare people away from cell phones for some arbitrary and unknown reason?

Also, if only dumbasses listen to the news then I suppose you must know a better way of getting information. Either that or you have a super-human ability to teleport to every event around the world and see it for yourself.

Your world is indeed very strange

  • reason for that is that every person in ''news'' wants to tell more and MORE..so they make up small details to look smarter and outcome is bullshit full of lies (not always).

i also said that i have tried to throw smoke or match into gasoline and nothing happens..exept match goes out.

and yes. if you guys check my forum you'll get pretty good idea where i get my info :)

  • That's not true at all. I'm a television producer and I know a thing or two about the business. They don't make up facts. They inject opinions, but they do not make up information because if they did they would get completely busted on it by other news stations.

Fox News is the worst for accuracy in reporting, but even they usually get all the facts right. They don't make up facts to lengthen their stories. That idea is completely wrong and I don't know where you got that bullshit from.

  • its not my opinion or idea. its what ive 'seen' with my own eyes. believe wht you want guys :) no point to argue here.

  • Ok, well I believe in correct grammar and spelling as well as being sane.

So good luck with your tin foil cap and feces smeared clothes.

  • not everything is government conspiracy you know, u have watched too many movies dude. i wasnt referring to any movies and im not saying theres some conspiracy behind it. dont twist my words dude, i simply said that ppl in news just manipulate with truth and add some details to look smarter, and those details are not 100% true, for example maybe he had broken cellphone and there was shortcut somewhere which gave the spark needed to ignite it. ofc they dont LIE directly, u just misunderstood me.

  • Here's how you get around that whole pesky "facts" thing:

"a credible source tells us that.."

    you're welcome.

  • Except they can only do that for hurricanes, earthquakes, and other such things. They can't say, "a credible source tells us McCain is really a lizard man" because people will go, "who is this 'credible source'?" If you'll recall there have been many civil suits regarding that very issue where reporters refuse to give up their informant's identity.

    you're welcome.

  • Bloggers don't have to adhere to the whole checking their facts thing. So the Daily Kos gets a tip saying that McCain is the Lizard Man. The news outlets in turn report that the Huffington Post, or the Daily Kos, or Drudge are reporting that... Some reporters are lazy like that.

  • Except that's bloggers, not regular reporters. Bloggers are vital to journalism because they dig up lots of stories that get noticed by real reporters and researched and reported on. They don't just scroll through the internet and read out a blog on air as their own report. Come on.

  • Here's one fresh off the presses for ya: CNN entertainment "reporter" duped by Palin bikini photoshop.

Look, my point is that some lazy reporters are twisting the facts, or not performing due dilligence. Doesn't mean all of them do it... but it happens.

  • Also, sethioz, just because you saw something on mythbusters doesn't mean it can't happen. I stopped watching mythbusters because they got lazy and stopped fully researching their subjects. Also, when their experiments failed, instead of trying again they just go, "MYTH BUSTED! WE'RE SO SMART!" and go home.

Also; you say that we shouldn't listen to the news, but we SHOULD listen to an entertainment show like mythbusters? WTF?? News = bad, but show about explosions = intelligent?

    You are crazy.

  • he detonated a bomb at 1:23 fucking terrorist look carfully

  • You're an idiot. What terrorist gets a job at a gas station, just so he can kill himself through severe burns and damage the gas station, but not blow it up?

Set aside that he CLEARLY doesn't "detonate" anything in the video, why the fuck would a terrorist want to blow up a gas station in fucking Brazil when nobody is around?

Terrorists are crazy, not stupid. Their plans usually have purposes.

It seems like you didn't even apply a basic layer of common sense to your retarded conclusion.

  • I work at a paint ball place and i thought my job is dangerous !!!

  • OMG!

  • I hope that guy is doing ok....

  • He actually died from his burns, sad story.

  • Natural selection at its finest.

  • oooooooooooh

    thats gatta hurt

    ;=S

  • That looked like a lighter he pulled out of his pocket to see what was in it.

  • He didn't. Read the video description.

  • I think he drop the cell phone in the tank and that could set it off. Look at 1:24 when he pulls back for a sec before the explosion. The battery dead shorted and that would have enough power to light the fuel. A cell phone light, ringer and vibrator DO NOT have enough power to light the vapor.

  • Yeah, thats a possibility.

Cell phone itself might not be dangerous, but the 5W power it radiates may be good enough to trigger a blast. Haven't you seen "Keep Cell Phones Off" board at gas stations?

  • 5W dissipated as heat is not enough to ignite gasoline. You can put out a cigarette in gas. A spark in gas vapor will do it. When's the last time you saw a cell phone spark?

Some crazy old lady yelled at me to get off my cell phone while pumping gas the other day...how absurd. You're more likely to cause a fire from static electricity generated by rubbing your seat while getting out of your car.

  • tHIS WAS IN THE NEWS!!! IT IS IN TURKEY NOT PORTUGAL CELLPHONE WHO CAUSE THE EXPLOSION!
