  • Mariahs voice can reach the 7th octave and she's a better whistler than Whitney

  • Ummm Whitney has about 3 octaves with a really strong head voice

  • Sing girl!!!

  • 9 octaves of range, none of that 4 to 5 octave range bullshit that you always talk about! She is a true sprinto contralto soprano with coloratura ability. She sings.whistle notes in head voice! No falsetto like lardassriah

  • @BeDeLuDeD you fucking hater, Whitney has 14 octanes - not 9. She's a Wagnerian corolatura contralto with soprano and lyric abilities.

  • @Kmaur21 Whitney is a 9 octave range singer! She whistles off the piano and singer low 1st octave notes! She has done it countless times! Kolding, Spain, Brunei, and her performance of "why does it hurt so.bad"

  • Whitney reminds me of Jean Carne true sfagato's cause both ladies could sing in every singing part effortlessly and powerfully. There upper registers are very agile and limitless!

  • Those G2's were heaven! Damn this woman got range! 9 octaves to be exact

  • 4:25 WHISTLE! A true sprinto contralto soprano! Her 9 octaves of range are truly unbeatable!

  • @BeDeLuDeD

Actually its Spinto not Sprinto and you can´t be a Contralto and a Soprano!

9 Octaves? Do you know that´s fukkin´ bullshit? She never showcased more than 3+ Octaves!

When you declare the note @ 4:25 as a real whistle note(poor accident) then your knowledge about singing and voices is Zero!

Whitney Houston had full 3,3 Octaves in her prime, nowadays its 2,4 Octaves (Studio). Range doesn´t make you a better singer besides your name is Mariah Carey!

  • @shacks29 BULLShit 4:25 was a whistle note, and she has done it plenty of times and guess what that note is way in seventh octave how you like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @shacks29 The way she did through note you could tell she did that on purpose cause normally Whitney does not do it that way. She started it without vibrato, then with vibrato in head, and ended the note with a very high whistle note. She did that on purpose she was in her element. That note is at least E7!!!

  • I have been listening to Whitney live since I was child I know her range, and its unlimited. Remember Whitney is the true soprano, Mariah is an controalto. Whitney range is higher cause she is a soprano, its easy for her to hit notes 5th, 6th, 7th octave, she is sfagato!

  • look how i sing this song! hope you enjoy!

  • The Queen!

  • Wow !

  • 5 octave range Whitney!

  • I can't believe 4:25 she did that so effortless and she jumped like 2 whole octaves this woman is ridiculous vocally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kmaur21 You are so delusional! Next!

  • Amazing !!

  • Thank you for posting...THIS is MY Whitney!!! Ahhhhhhhh....

    Hugs from Philly....

  • @bconsitt Shut up it is naturally that high your always coming on here talking about stuff and Whitney is coloratura and always had a whistle register since the 80's

  • @bconsitt Your the moron it is a E7 4:25

  • @bconsitt Also naturally her peak is C#6 right, because she's a mezzo-soprano.

  • @ThePianoguy89 No Whitney is a coloratura and E-flat is her peak in head voice higher in whistle

  • @bconsitt Yes I see, I thought it could not be counted as a whistle note because it was not sung, it was very brief and it did sound like a squeak. She was sick on that night too.

  • @ThePianoguy89 No it was sung both she went up the scale and did it in Kolding 4:01 All the Man I Need she did the same thing and she was not sick.

  • I think its natural for Whitney to hit whistle notes. She does not always use it but her soprano can go that high without effort at times, it is not practice it just her vocal type. In this clip that note was in seventh octave. She has did that more than once.

  • Comment removed

  • @ThePianoguy89 Yes, I agree I have been saying that for years. Mariah is alto so for her it requires a lot of technique to hit those whistle for Whitney she is a soprano and comes out so easily and seems like accident but its just how high her voice is. She probably still can do it and she is in her worst vocal state.

  • @kmaur21 People are giving her trouble of how she sounds nowadays, but she is only human. She still has that passionate, emotive, and big voice. She is still The Voice!

  • @ThePianoguy89 I know she is been singing so long. Her upper register lost some clarity but she still got that range!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ThePianoguy89 I can't believe she hit that note through 4:21-4:25 she jumped maybe 2-3 octaves in that one note thats crazy. She started without vibrato then with vibrato and jumped into whistle I never heard anything like that only by Minnie and Jean Carne a jazz singer.

  • @kmaur21 It sounds like she did an C#5 to E5 in head voice. Saving all my love for you is in the key A major. Her chest notes are C#5 when she says "no other man and also satrting at 4:08 she also belts out C#5's in theis song. At 4:25 is like a little whitle chirp, but I don't think it's a full whistle note. I am not sure what it is. At 4:39 is an E5. At 5:52 it's an F#5 with vibrato. Then at 5:57 she scales down from F#5 to E5 to D5 and then to C#5 in head voice.

  • @ThePianoguy89 The note is a E7 or higher not E6 for sure. Trust me I know for a fact its in seventh octave. Listen to note Whitney hits Kolding All the Man I Need 4:01 A6 or Bb6, and she hits some notes in seventh and sixth octave My Name is Not Susan Simple Truth her range was ridiculous in 80's and early 90's.

  • Comment removed

  • @kmaur21 She still hit a E7 whether she did cause she was sick or not. Its right here in this clip. Her highest note from knowledge is this one. Plus she hit a D7 NYC Control performance in 1987, and some crazy high notes Simple Truth My Name is Not Susan, along with Kolding, and Brunei. Her highest is a E7 though here. Her lowest is a G2, A2

  • @kmaur21 This is a live vocal range clip you can watch?v=YtAoIX4698M.

  • @ThePianoguy89 The only one that is delusional is you the note here is the note. You can't change it I can't either. Whitney here hit a note in seventh octave, and effortlessly!

  • @kmaur21 #LOL Keep dreaming!

  • @kmaur21 you're so funny , whitney's range are 5 octaves right?

  • @FanaticoManiatico That's what I was trying to say! Have you even heard her hit an E7 before? Is it over obsession or delusion? I love her range the way it is and she does not need to use whistle registry if she can belt and use virtuosic head voice runs like that! Her coloratura abilities are amazing and she's not even a coloratura soprano! She is THE VOICE and that all what matters!

  • @ThePianoguy89 Whitney has hit notes in 6 and 7 octave several times live!

  • @ThePianoguy89 Don't 4:25 sound like its at least a E7 or higher. It sounds even higher than Mariah's Emotions chirp, and she did effortlessly. I count that in her range cause she has done whistle chirps like that alot. Kolding all the Man I Need she does a head to whistle scale too 4:01. Amazing control.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how she hits the whistle note.

  • Highest notes I think are E5 to A5 to B5. To count as whistle notes it has to be sung, but I know she has the ability to sing in whistle registry.

  • @ThePianoguy89 Nope that note 4:25 is whistle register

  • @kmaur21 I think she only touched a whistle, in order for it to count it has to be sustained, but she do have the ability to hit a whistle note. She actually hit a G#6 to A6 in stacatto.

  • @ThePianoguy89 It seems like 4:21-4:25 she went from a C5# to at least a E7 or higher at 4:25. Thats over two octaves in one note. Amazing.

  • i would like that whitney como to seville ... But now she sings so bad

  • Been saving all my life for you Whitney.

  • Kirk Whalum, el saxo...te adoramos.

  • Well regardless of her being hoarse she hit one of the highest notes ever in pop history here, along with amazing transition. She went into the seventh octave here 4:25 hoarse, thats amazing. Only Nippy can do that from a head voice transition!

  • Did you here how she did that low run ant 5:38!!!!!!!!! My god!!!!

  • @44joints I know and did you hear that whistle note 4:25. She went from head right into whistle octave in like a couple seconds. Her register transitions are genius level and her vocal ear. Nobody could pull that note that she did hear. Her low note too. I think she hits her highest note possible hear 4:25. She might have went higher live in some other performances

  • @kmaur21.... See you're getting me obsessed with her voice again! LOL! I was trying to chill out. But yeah that may have been her highest note there and man what confidence and stage presence she exudes!! She owns every song that she sings. Like you said her vocal ear is uncomparable! If people really pay close attention to this performance they will see the genius in it! It can be easily missed because she does it so effortlessly!

  • @44joints How high guys was 4:25? That note was in seventh octave and on top of the piano I think. That was ridiculous how jumped that octave like that in a couple of seconds. She was sick too here..................... She really had the talent to sing OPERA! She would give opera singers a run for their money!

  • @44joints That riff 4:06-4:07 was ridiculous. She did that squail on purpose. She is so soulful! Church girl!

  • Yeah I know, that note is one of her highest along with All the Man I Need Kolding 4:01 when she does a similar scale from head into whistle octave with no effort.

  • What can I say but the best R&B music and DIVA of our times: Whitney Houston!

  • Surely she used octave and the voice of head super head, and went to whistle, it is simply a spectacle, the greatest singer of all, I got so emotional every time that I sow her sing Saving all my love for you

  • Yeah I am glad you notice the whistle note, that note is so high, I don't even know if could be known what it is? I think it is at least seventh octave or higher for sure.

  • Whitney did Georgia Brown 4:25 that woman got mad vocal tricks it is insane! She been singing a long time she knows everything in the book when comes to singing.

  • Do you know who is Georgia Brown ? A Brasilian singer ? I love her so much ...BUT whitney ´s voice is the Great voice of all God Bless They´re Both

  • 4:22-4:25 how did she jump like a couple of octaves like that. That is sickest run and inflection I ever heard in my life. Whitney got them all beat with that!

  • She is perfect her voice is from another planet ...

  • It is amazing how she sings one song, so many different ways.

  • How high was 4:25 that was at least a E7 or higher? That was in the seventh or maybe even eight octave no joke. Whitney is so gifted, I can't believe she went from 5 octave up to seventh octave like in like a second. From head to whistle register crazy!

  • @Daniel40501 She pulled a Minnie Ripperton 4:25 Lol that note was from another planet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Daniel40501 She truly has 5 octave range!

  • Whitney was very sick during this concert! And sang da hell outta every song!

  • @qwerty35313 Also Whitney hit that note 4:25 around the same time Mariah hit that G7# live. I wonder how high Whitney note was4:25 it sounds just as high if not higher. That was sick how she did that octave jump from 5 octave to seventh in like a second or two. That was sick. She did similar octave jump from 5 to 6 octave in Kolding all the Man I Need 1993.

  • @qwerty35313 She sounds like Rachelle Farelle and Betty Wright 4:25. That may have been in upper seventh or eight octave 4:25. That note is at least E7-G7 at least... That was sick I can't stop playing that note 4:25. She did it mad effortlessly too.

  • Whitney that was Awesome...Your voice is medicine for the soul !

  • why is mariah even being brought up in the video's commentary???

  • WHY OH WHY I WAS ONLY A KID IN 1991 and Whitney Houston sang in Spain???!!!!

  • DIVA forever!!!! nr 1!!!!

  • She was singing like opera singer this concert. Not really using her chest but lord knows she was using that head, superhead, and whistle register!!!!!!!!!

  • hey bitches

MC cant even strengthen he voice she always whistle...duh!WHITNEY CAN DO BETTER!

but i like mc and whit

its just i know how to listen voices

  • mariah is better than Whitney. Whitney hardly paved the way. Mariah is more influenced by Aretha.

  • Please MC has nothing on Whitney. Anything MC can do Whitney can and much better!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tell me how in the hell is mc more influenced by Whitney's Godmother aretha....u know betta than to tell that lie!!!!!!

  • girl please marah aint paved the way she half white she aint did nun fa the blacks and whitney is like no other so shut up hater you just wish you was as great as she

  • yet on the divas show, she didnt no one word to chain of fools.

  • people say mariah is better then whitney but whitney paved the way for mariah, mariahs debut album was a copycat of whitneys debut

  • Whitney on bad vocal day can outsing all these other female singers!!!!!!!!

  • you r not lying lol....

  • why on all her live showsw her voice is straining? what I loveed by her and luther is that it flowed so naturally, but you look at her in the 90's and she pushed her voice, and it became harsh. this at times sounds forced not pretty and rich like at the begining of her career, such a dissapoitment

  • Please Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So what Whitney was hoarse she still climb octaves and did so vocal runs she only can! Amazing!

  • It so funny how hoarse Whitney was hitting like her highest whistle notes. She hit whistle notes this concert effortlessly but the rest of range was hoarse. I love the whistle she does in Who Do you Love................................

  • Whitney was in whistle octave here this concert big time!

  • Feeling all right 4:12-4:14 sounds just like Toni Braxton but this was before she came out in 1992. Did Toni use one of Whitney runs and popularized it. All right is so Toni and Toni always said she looked up to Whitney.

  • It was only a bad day, she had a cold... This was in 1991, but she has had other very good days after that concert (think about Brazil 1994)...

  • Bahia82, if you'll notice, this performance was in 1991, which means it was part of the IYBT tour. She did so many concerts over that period no wonder her voice is strained. Plus, you say that as though she had no voice after this: have you seen her medley performance at the 1994 AMA's? Have you seen her perform "I Have Nothing" at the 1993 Billboard Awards?

  • @miksimpatikwhitney ...SO many 'fans' on youtube stating...'she had a cold'...she had laryngitis'..'she wasn't well'.....her voice has suffered bcause of drugs.....Whitney took drugs BEFORE BOBBY Brown....Whitney was always a 'bad girl'.......the 'posh frocks' and 'demure' stage prescence wasn't really the real Whitney......

  • @Bahia82 a lot of that had to do with the fact that she started doing drugs around that time which caused damage to her voice, and also not resting your voice enough causes straining, that's why when she first started recording she sanged her songs in natural voice and didn't force her voice because Clive Davis didn't want her singing like that.

  • @Bahia82 Why you not up there performing? And where are your grammies and other awards? Where's your contracts? Where's your movies? Where's your soundtracks? Where is your beauty? Where are your billions of people that love you REGARDLESS? Where is your undying believe in the Creator of us all when scum like you put us down? Where are they? Can't show us...then shed up.

  • lovely

  • i am not tired watching this...thanks miksimpatikwhitney!!!!!!

    nippy the best singer evaahhrrrr

whit n ey i love you

  • she's my best singer in the whole wide world!!!!THE VOICE is my idol!!!! i love you nippy!!!

  • I love her more than you, lol....I cannot wait for her to come back and show how it's done :-)

  • WHAT A BLESSING! My words cannot begin to express my appreciation for Whitney.

  • Listen to the feeling all right 4:14 run that sound like Toni Braxton right there. Nippy a trip. This was even before Toni came out so evidence that Toni was heavily influenced by Nippy she admitted it.

  • kmaur21, can you tell me what's Whitney's lowest note in studio and what song she hits that in?

  • C3 in Whatchalookinat but some says she goes lower on the Christmas One Wish CD in a song. But remember Whitney has went way lower live. I would not be shock if she sung down to F2 in runs and inflections before. I know she easily hit a G2/A2 I loves you Porgy 1994 effortlessly.

  • I think Whitney can at least especially during the MLIYL tour and now go down to a F2 or lower live. I can easily see her going that low. Even when she was high high soprano she can sing down to a g2.

  • Thank you!!! And can you tell me the precise moment in Whatchulookinat when she hits C3??? Sorry for all these questions, it's important! :-) Until now the lowest note I had found was D3...

  • @miksimpatikwhitney she hit A2 in Fine, and she goes way lower now in her tour, and in other runs live. She has went very very high as well as low easily spans 4.5 -5 octaves of range easily!

  • Its actually A2 in Fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • whitney i love this version,

  • I love how she goes into whistle when she does that through....................... oh who............ She might have did by accident, but looking at her it seems like thats what she intended to do. Excellent transition with registers right there!!!!!!!!!!

  • great

  • She's the greatest even in a bad day. Wonderful performance.

  • She is the great singer in the world the best

    thanks for posting that vidéo!!*****
