Completely agree the US drug business is so big that government must be included in it... its a big pricey reason to print even more money to supply the system with more dollars!

Prouty makes it clear that this was complicity which means that NORAD knew they were coming in and landing at Mena AK. I suspect that this operation was compartmentalized. The pilots might have been told that story. So they believed that this was illicit. The Pilots were the pawns in other words.
Follow the money. The Drug War keeps the industrial police complex fat and growing. It helps the prison continue to grow - how many prisons have been built in the USA vs. Colleges/Universities in the last 20 years?
And all the cops, DEA and other government agents who are paid off to keep the drugs coming in.
