  • This is the video for NIST's official 9/11 story: DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC?

  • i miss you Gina..this is your song...

  • Comment removed

  • this video is Highly rated kudos to you who are waking up to this!!

  • American Pie!! :D :D :D

  • my ex girlfriend introduced me to this song. just like

her, this song is filled with magic, something that i

didn't believe in till i met her and heard this song. as

it was magic, the show is over now.

  • the guitarist kinda looks like howard from big bang theory

  • This clip uses the 45 mono mix of "Magic." You can tell by the ending where they sound like their singing in a garbage can. (no offense!)

  • I was born in 1990's and I'm a little sorry that I wasn't born for example in 60's or 40's because these years were the best ever, I think.

Today's world is very corrupt ... I know that it wasn't such like we can to see in the photos but I think it was about 100 percent better than presence...

    Greetings from Czech republic ...

  • @conkyjoe it was just their opinion; does it matter if someone didn't study up on their rock & roll history? i actually like the aly & aj version better as well; it has more of an upbeat, happy tone to it. There was no need to respond to chipmunkaholic the way you did; it wasn't as if they were trollin' or anything -_-

anyways, people who like any of the two versions should be on the same side; they're both full of great music and quality unlike what we have on the radio now.

    ~Pokelucelop ^.<

  • Zal's appearance here? He looks exactly like tens of millions of suburban kids did at the time--just the beginning of long hair, still wearing surfer shoes and pants...gimme 1963!!

  • and how you can not believe in magic after listening to this song??

  • the guitar players feet hahaha great song tho

  • sooo much better than the beach boys, and i like the beach boys a lot!!!!!

  • @maxis5001 They kinda look like an alternative Beach Boys, with less fat and bald kids in the group...!

  • 37 people dont believe in magic

  • Wonderful lyrics as usual.

  • John Sebastian is such an underrated songwriter, unfortunately.

  • @RDBeatnik Many are culled; few are chosen by Guns and Moses, aka, Charlton Heston, star of the anti-circus movie The Greatest Show on Earth.

  • It's an autoharp ... but could they have used some cowbell? (Just kidding) ...☺☺☺

  • It's an AUTOHARP--like a Zither, but the keys at the bottom play chords. A vibraphone is completely different, it looks like a xylophone, but is has a warmer tone with a vibrato.

  • Damn, they have more dancing move than me, im kinda upset now :S

  • This was cool song. Still sounds good today. They were lip syncing in this video tho. No mics or amps.

  • believe in the magic that can set you free!

  • 60's rock ,it was magic ,,what magic it was ,,love and take it as it is ,,i wish the world was still like this ,,maybe it is

  • I do, I do, I do belive in magic.

  • zal always seemed to be having so much fun!!!

  • 37 people don't belive in magic.

  • what is that instrument is that guy playing. its like a triangular guitar

  • @reapersrewards Vibraphone/autoharp

  • @conkyjoe It's called an autoharp. By depressing keys on it, you can play chords. John Sebastian, the player here, is one of its best-known exponents in popular music.

  • @reapersrewards Thats John Sebastian, hes playing an autoharp. It was big in folk music back then. I believe John was the first to use it in POP music.

  • @reapersrewards

    It's the autoharp.

  • John Sebastian wore those round granny glasses long before John Lennon made them famous later on.

  • OMG! Aly & Aj sang that song.

  • What model Guild electric guitar is Zal playing?

It looks like a S-200 Thunderbird. What a great tone it had.

  • i agree with fpv72568 ....simple drum kit no effects no bullshit.. unlike today

  • he did alot of face pulling onvideo ..he did it on ed sullivan as well

  • That Autoharp sure looks cool and exotic. John Sebastian is hugging it like it was his girl. Great sound (it just proves that you don't need hi-tech equipment to make great music).

  • I Love this Song. It meant so much to me when I was a young guy. It made me pick up a Guitar

Thanks so much for Posting it

  • this song is great!!

  • John on autoharp FANTASTIC

  • Great Song :)

  • Notice none of the guitars are plugged in. He's not playing the lead break but the camera is on him...

  • LMFAO. Im totally not even listening to the song.. his FEET are scary lol

  • this song is sooo catchy

even If you dont like the song you cant help but to sing along

  • the original is the best <3

  • good song

  • I believe in magic (:

  • i lovvvee this song!!!!!!!

  • the only think i am looking at is that guys FEET!!!! Really destracting.

  • the one on the left??? if so, me too!!!

  • YEAH!!!!

  • skinny jeans and long hair, way ahead of their time... totally lol

  • this the jumpoff :) i love this song

  • That is some manly autoharp! So many people think it is for girls, but it looks good here.

  • Screw guitar hero, I want autoharp hero nao!

  • hahahah hilarious harp action goin on there. same goes for the lead guitarists feet, they are something that would only pass in the 60's, those puppies don't stop tappin and groovin til the song is done, goofball

  • clayjir13: you told me to go listen to music that is made by "the man" who is the man you asshole.

  • Man!...them white boys can dance!!!

  • I like both the original version and Aly and AJ's. It's an awesome song no matter who's singing it.

  • i love the song

  • Anybody who hates this song is severely lacking in the area of a soul.

  • I love this :)

  • aly and aj aint got NOTHING on this version lol :) but then again, do ali and aj have anything on anyone? XD

  • Not at all!

  • hahah :D

  • this is way better than Aly&AJ

  • great song:)

  • Scram Your screen name tells me all I need to know about you. Most likely a tweener with no clue of rock and roll history to make a silly comment as yours. Go watch David Seville bubble gum videos you L'il chipmunk.

  • Conky, could not have said it better. Thanks for posting this gem from one of the greatest

    bands ever.

  • scram lol your silly

  • @cmanistheshit2 hey cmanistheshit2 your screen name tells me all i need to know about you too.

  • @conkyjoe hey it's just his opinion! Aly and aj brought me here. i like this too but Aly and Aj's was more exciting. yep aly and aj's was better!

  • @chipmunkaholic no way dis one is way better aj and aly are beautiful but not as talented

  • My Dad was Tour Manager for the Spoonful. True story.

  • I belkieve you...why not.

They are one of favourite bands ever and best track is little known 'Coconut Grove'...The Beatles made Help (film) round by my house in UK near Twickenham Studios and i sat in a limo with Ringo....not quite on a par with your claim to fame!

  • whoa! ringo starr!

i think your claim is better!

    thats amazing.

    he is my favorite beatle.

  • Excellent song. I love blasting it cuz it makes me think of my boyfriend. I loves him and this song and so does he :)

  • thats actually a great voice i wouldnt expect a guy who looks like that to have a strong voice

  • they are great. today they are better than a lot of bands actually

  • magi feets xD

  • I like the Aly and AJ Verison

  • ridiculous.

  • saw them in toronto in 1964 or '65 -- my first rock concert ... will never get tired of this song. r.i.p. Zal ...

  • This song makes me happy.

    It's AWESOME!

  • Classic song. And I never get tired of looking at JS (nummy)!

  • Wasnt this the first song by a US band to make it to the top of the charts after the British Invasion happened? I thought I saw that in a documentary somewhere, I may be wrong.

  • yes, this band was a musical rebuttal to the beatles, stones, animals... their origins is the new york city area, sprinkled with a guy from Ontario. musically they were very good, influenced by American blues/folk music. the band members at this time were rather young, the two front members (Sebastian and Yanovsky) were 21 at this time (1965)

  • This song always makes me smile.

I was 9 when this came out... everyone was in love with Paul McCartney and I went nuts over John Sebastian! lol

  • looooooooool!!! XD your comment made my millinium... C: hahaha nice.

  • This song makes me dance.

    :)

  • such a good song

  • DUDE thats what i think!!

  • Nope

  • OMG, this tune and vid is "As Old As The Hills, It is the same age as I"...LOL! Awesome tune and post conkyjoe and 5***** for ya! Thanks for posting!

  • Yeah. I may not hold the looks of a hippie but I'm as peacenik as it gets too. And this song rocks. I hate new music and wish that this music was alive today.

  • you're a fag!!!!

  • whats wrong with hippies, im 14 and im as about as hippy as it gets, dont be so closeminded and ignorant. maby he shouldnt hang with you, the way it sounds is that your the total asshole man. leave this good music alone and go listin to your music industry manufactured shit made by the man, and us keep listning to pure inner energy and musical magic made by this band.

  • ok guys sorry about this comment. i swear that i personaly did not right this. my friend wrote this. i dont believe tht there is anything wrong with this music or bieng gay. i actauly like lovin spoonful and was pissed wen i sasy tht he wrote this.

  • WOW! I thought The Monkey's did this song...mine eye's have seen the glory...on another note...my gay 4 grade music teacher use to play an instrument like that one the lead singer has...I've never seen one since 1984! What's that thing called?

  • Its called an autoharp; sometimes also called a zither.

  • They use so many old songs in TV commercials these days...I heard this in a Kohls one a few years ago and have loved it ever since!

  • Wow!! A True Classic !! Too bad the Lead Guitarist passed away

  • the one guitarist is lovin' it.

  • Thats my generation ,a lot of songs for a lot of moods they music then said a lot .

  • hahah my lunch table at school staried sinning this then the wole lunch room did

  • It's sort of refreshing to hear something so upbeat out of that era. A lot of sad, serious music comes out of the 60's and 70's, but this song is great change of pace.

And they look like they're having so much fun playing the music too. Gotta remember to have a smile on my face when playing.

  • john sebastian and i are darn near twins. then and now.

  • love this song

  • drummer standing up? wtf?

  • I think its just a high stool

  • oh ya ur right i see it now...

  • I think hes just to tall for it so he needs a tall stool and a mini bend in the knee

  • I saw John in concert. He is great. This was REAL feel good music......When did the music die?!!!!! I miss it......Dennis Beatleboy

  • yeah gotta love Vietnam and all the civil rights riots What a great time I think I'll pass

  • i love the 60's

  • I grew up in the 60s in scotland and this was one of my fav records. to see n hear it now is weird especially when you guys wish you were there, what a time!!!!

  • just fab they dont make songs like this anymore

  • OMG you so fukin rite i was born in '91 and evry day i sulk that i didnt get to live throo those great times

  • Eat your heart our asshole.

  • Yeah, go listen to some "rave" music,

that's REAL good stuff, isn't it?

  • Oh, the 60's. I wish I was alive then. *sigh*

  • i wish i lived in the 60's lol.

  • So do I, but unfortunately I was born in 1989

  • Yes, pot relaxes the senses and makes this music all the more enjoyable! long live the 60`s

  • now I know where johnny ramone got his look

  • Unless you're kidding, you just don't

get it bud, Sebastien is looking at Zally

and smiling, not because they're gay (jeez),

he's smiling at him to say, isn't this fun,

can you believe we get to do this, isn't this

a great song, we've come up with here!

But it's like trying to "tell a stranger"

bout rock n' roll," talking to you.

  • i totally agree. espcially since it's their FIRST music video. if i were them, i'd be so excited, i wouldn't stop smiling for a month!

  • Another possible explanation-large amounts of pot. :)

  • Talk about lip syncing sound over!

  • this is da shit

  • Don't think so..they were great friends.

  • exquisite, and delightful

    I like this song

  • LOOK AT THIS VIDEO!!!! how much better music is this way.... just listen to the melody.....and it'll take you from there!!!
