you know this scene is brilliant, but then Joely Richardson completely RUINS it with that dumbass look on her face. like, even when everyone is sad that he's leaving and the daughter won't talk to him, she's just sitting there smiling like an idiot. and then when the dad and daughter are crying she's like "AHAH ISN'T THIS HILARIOUS."

Yes its a movie. And movie's are created to be emotionally provoking hence some people may cry or even tear up or feel sympathy for some of the characters or even become attached to them throughout the entire film. Very well done character development could manage this easily so yes...Its a movie but why people shouldn't cry? That's like saying not to be scared when watching a scary movie just because its a movie. Comedy/Drama/Horror are all emotionally provoking.
