  • moving to fast better soil if he would slow down a little

  • bet that would till a lot better if you went a lot slower.

  • The weights are 40# apiece I think. Retail about $1.00 a pound. For a comparison back in the late 60's when I worked on machinery for a living we sold new 4020's field ready for about $1.00 a pound which was less than the 2305 sells for now!

  • Love those front end weights, jq730d. How much weight do those add? I need to get some like that for my Kubota BX2350. Mike

  • do you think kubota is better?

  • @salamonetalton

I have no idea. I have a long history with JD, MF, IH, and AC but no Kubota - in fact I don't think I've ever heard one run so it's a question I can't answer.

  • @catonmtn

Interesting you are willing to make a comment like that without knowing what the conditions were, what we were trying to accomplish, what we were going to plant and so on. By the way - you KNOW not all tillers have the same shaft speed? This one really spins fast - forcing you to move quicker with it - otherwise you have a dust bowl to plant in with the attendant crusting etc.

  • @jq730d Deja vu, seems like I saw that same comment by catonmtn somewhere before. Strange, strange indeed. I guess making one uninformed comment was not enough.

  • sounds like a lawn mower............

  • You said you made a mounting step. Does it show on any of your videos? I have very old knees ( one meat and one metal )

  • No I'm sorry it doesn't show in any of them. I essentially made the bottom of a battery box out of some angle iron with some angled braces and bolted it to the same brackets that hold the side of the platform on the clutch side. It sets about 12 inches below the platform and sticks out about 10 inches or so.

  • @Gwelda666 March 5, 2011 Just sent you links to pictures. Nothing like being slow - sorry!

  • That is a nice rig no doubt. But the sound of your 318 tilling is way better.

  • I like them both. That diesel idling is a great sound but I like the tune of the 318/Honda with a load on it. The 2305 is much more comfortable and handier for me to use though. Those pedals to control the transmission are great and the walk across platform is too! Knees and hips are getting stiff, so I had to make a mounting step to get on it though. When it comes to weight and power the 2305 puts the 318 in the shade even though rated the same hp. The 2305 is a miser on fuel.

  • how old is he, i am 13 and have been doing that all of my life. big and small tractors.

  • i wonder why you dont have a bucket for the front. We have a bucket and forks on our 4400 model series and we love them!

  • I have a loader - I just don't run with it on unless it's needed. I have some very tight places to work and with the loader on the machine doesn't fit. It's SOOO nice to have a loader that mounts and dismounts as quickly as the quick coupler 3 point hitch does on the rear end.

  • yea, those pins are the best.

  • Several of the small JD tractors are hydro only now. 2305 is one of the handiest rigs I've ever used. Has a high and low range.

  • is it a hydro or does it have a manual transmichian like a stick shift if it does how many gears does it have.

  • yeah thats a nice tractor... i looked at one of them once ... turned out to be just alittle too samll for our operation though.. we actualy run a John Deeere 3203 and a Kabota 3430 they are nice each ...

  • im 14 and run a 3203 also their nice

  • yea i like them

  • one lucky grandson

i wish i had grand parnent like that, but i gest now that i own half of his tractor i have no reson to complain

  • great memories

  • we use to have big john deer but dont remeber the model though been so lond since we sold it but now we have a kubota 9000 low profile and it does perfectly fine but the john deere was my favorite. p.s ur gradson is already good!

  • hes pretty good

  • yea, we got a 870, and a 4120, we did have a 790, but traded it for a 4120, before those, we had massey ferguson's, hosses! a massey 253, and 1145, we got the 4120 from james river equipment in rock hill S.C. and the 870 i inherited from my grampaw, cool vid, nice tractor

  • In the United States In the State of Ohio, You don't need a license to drive farm tractors. Nor do you need to be a certain age. Most guys around here started hauling grain to the elevator at age 13, but they were driving tractors since age 5 to 8.

  • Yup, I'm in Ohio and i started running a Allis Chalmers 190XT111 with a New Holland 276 baler when i was 6yrs. old

  • great video! How much does that tractor weigh?

  • The specs say 1865 lbs.

  • he did pretty good for his first time. youre

doing good teaching him like that. keep up the

    good work, fella!

  • Thanks - It makes me think of a neighbor that hired youngsters to pick rocks. Then they graduated to driving if they showed an interest. "You can make a pretty good hand out of a kid until they get interested in girls - then it all goes up in smoke!" :-)

  • you said it!

  • Now that what I call tillage!! o.o

  • Nice tractor vid - guess I need to get me one of those tillers some day.

  • he looks like he is having fun, do you have to pry him off of the tractor or do you just let him run out of fuel?

  • Yep - he'd eat and sleep on it if he could. :-)

  • looks like hes doin really well.your a good guy teaching him things like this, its times like this they will never forget. Thanks for the video and tell him to keep up the good work.

  • Thanks - I'm just passing it on - my Uncles did it to me when I was a little guy. They had me raking hay when I was 7 years old on a 8n Ford.

You would probably get put you in jail for things like that now.

  • your right you probably would.Take care and thanks for the reply.

  • can you buy these in the uk

  • Hey is that an actual tine tiller or like a power rake because power rakes dont do shit for plantin stuff

  • Tine tiller

  • OK couldn't really tell hah
