no it's not. It's called Bridges.I know as i was there in the council meeting when it was choosen. And was launched by the lord mayor on the 7th of Aug as Bridges. The insurance,funding applications, build and design documents all call it Bridges.Oh and did you notice it's under a bridge. But you can call it downtown all you like.

ah yeah our website is a tiny bit mis-leading, at the time that website was constructed years ago, there was no name for the park, so when visitors to our site wanted information what was going on "DOWNTOWN" ie the city centre, regarding the new park, that's where they could get it. I think you may have taken the hyperlink tag to literally.. Easily done no worries. :)

@GingerDave2010 Yeah i know, but such are the cost of things and we had a budget, with no scope for extra monies. There is still a chance it will be done, but will require meetings with the council and if they would stump up the cash, or apply for additional funding from some EU fund.

Carrick looks good, not to sure about the bowl bit, skated swords a few times which is similar and i personally don' think they work for skating, but they do for bmx'ing. imo.

The company doing it are good at what they do, so it should be brilliant fun. I just can't believe within 1 year NI has 2 skate parks!!!! just like buses, wait 30 years for one , and 2 come along at once! lol.

AT LAST THE PARK HAS STARTED TO GET BUILT started on the 13/12/2010, so 16 weeks from now (start of april 2011) it should be ready to skate.!!! oh yeah!

yeah remember the cold and frost that was really bad, that put a set back on the date, that was written by me 4 months ago. Plus there was little issue with drainage that had to be sorted while digging was going on. Only a matter of weeks now and it should be complete. Then a big opening party.... so the fact i was wrong by a few weeks when its taken 30 years since the first application for a skatepark isn't so bad... is it?

nah wont be ready for January, it takes 16 weeks for it to be ready and it still hasnt started...but we have a green light for building, so its all good. Just need a bit of time to organise the people involved building it.

yeah B.U.S have been pushing for an outdoor park for 3 years now and we are now bringing it. Others have tried and failed over the last 30 years, so for us to acheive this in 3 is no easy task. It doesnt just happen over night. But it soon will after next month...digging starts.

hello! im glad to see progress on this front. something like this could really keep me skating. now i hate to be a pessomist but i've heard theres going to be a park for years now and i had all but given up hope. is this 100% confirmed- your a genius tho if it is going to happen. iknow most councel spending has been slased this year so the fact that a skate park is being built is incredible.

helmets issue still being debated, hard to police, perhaps follow scottish parks which recommend them for all but not enforced, in most outdoor concrete parks. 10 pm will be fine, cctv plus police are gonna be walking the beat there.
