Ay that Elephant Gambit came in handy against this one chulo I played today when he did the King's Knight Opening (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3), I did the Elephant Gambit (2...d5), then he came at me all loco with his knight (3. Nxe5) so I took that fool's pawn (3...dxe4) and then 4. d3 exd3 5. Bxd3 Be6 6. Qf3 and then I was like let's trade queens fool (6...Qf6) and then 7. Qxf6 Nxf6 8. Bg5 Nfd7 9. Nxd7 Nxd7 10. Rf1 h6 11. Bh4 g5 12. Bg3 Bg7 13. Bxc7 Bxb2 14. Be5 Nxe5 15. c3 Nxd3+. And then he gave up ay.

What an amazing game!! Seems like Gelfand had his lines ready and have a really sharp opening on the other side Carlsen reads the board like the champion he is and takes it home in the end :) Very good lines from bouth of them :) Love Kingscrusher and the way he comments.. Thumbs up and keep the videos coming :)
listen there is no mistake with this video it is just simply a great combination of the elephant gambit and you have magnus carlsen thats all you need to be perfectly honest i have seen so many great comments on this page then i have seen a very very small percentage of people who really have hate in there heart so they just leave crazy comments that do not have any common logic behind them but in all the views are pure from pure chess fanatics so stop the hate and congratulate.
Ahm...Mr King Crusher, I really want to improve in chess dramatically. I don't want to be a GM or so but I want to play like a GM does. :D If I were to gauge my skills, I probably have an elo rating of 1200 plus on FIDE. If there's something like that. :P LOL! But could u suggest ways on how to have an organize way of learning chess? Some people learn fast, some don't. I want to know how those fast learners do. Pls help. thanks :)
wow, what a game.. you must have been so exited when you saw this game for the first time. Petrosian-like defensive skills from Carlsen, wow just wow.
Watching how fast you can us the computer to create move choices makes me nervous about how easy it is for engine abusers to play online chess. Great video!
@NYCGRIMLAW1 Yes it seems to be a mobile issue. I have reported the issue now. I really don't think 100,000 unique people have viewed the video. It must be some sort of mobile viewing bug.
Wow 101k views. Do you think it's been featured somewhere or some mega famous guy has linked it in a twitter feed/blog or something? All these latecoming KC fans eh ;) We've known he was brilliant for years now hehe
Awesome game -- 90k+ views now. Let's hope KC gets more followers from this one. He's an outstanding chess commentary. Enjoy watching his 5min blitz games, Chesscube Warzone and GM game analysis.
Beautiful bishops, one of those games against a computer where you think you got a good possition then all of a sudden these strangley placed pieces are working soo well hahaha
This goes out to all those people that said D4 caro slavs are boring as i said to them its how you play after the openeing that counts thankyou kc for proving this point ! ive had one boring game in my 1 yrs chess leuge playing and the rest have been explosive ! thanks again.
The major theme here seems to be piece coordination. Carlsen allows the black rooks on the 8th rank, which looks extremely threatening. But in what follows Carlsem centralizes and cuts the communication of the rooks with the other pieces. Gelfand never quite manages to coordinate. After 27.Qd3 (20:19) all of Carlsen's pieces have landed on the third rank, all exerting infuence on the center and coordinating powerfully, while Gelfand's rooks are almost out of play. The finish is stellar.
@KC: Great enthusiasm, as always. However, I think you should get back to your old ways not using the engine as much for analysis. Because it tends to prompt sentences like "Apparently, g5 is good here...", which don't provide much insight. I think your audience would benefit more from seeing you struggle to understand what's going on. Granted, this was a complicated one... Keep up the good work!
@maltebricht1 He did go on to say that g5 was a pawn sac (if accepted) to get the queen to e4 to protect b7 + h4 to stop blacks queen coming in with check though. I think he uses the engine to get to "the truth" quicker otherwise the vids would be long winded while he tries to work out whats happening in complicated positions. He would also run into the hazard of being slain by armchair engine users in the comments when he provided wrong insights , so he has no choice really ..
@TheOneBlackSheep1973 Sorry, I didn't make myself clear: I chose g5 as a random example, not referring to the Carlsen game specifically. I think there's a greater learning effect if we only use the engine as a last resort. Me personally, I'm not watching these analyses to get to the truth (I can do that with an engine myself), but to try to think through the game, putting myself in the position of the players who don't have an engine at the board. As to the armchair engine users: who cares?
I have tried all day to watch this from my iPad, and it doesn't work. I suspect many others have done the same thing, and that's why the views are so high
hard to believe, that Magnus could play in such a wild style against Anand. My overall impression is, that everyone is playing with an extra effort against Gelfand now he is a contender for the crown
KC your commentary is brilliant! It will be very nice to see you annotate the Kramnik-Carlsen game from the next round which is much more complex than this!
how do you use the engine? I have it but don't know what those numbers mean. I see 1. 2. 3. 4 lines does that mean the different type of variations the engine came up with? What's the decimal value on the top left?
@damthatriver09 The first line is the best play according to the engine. Each line down is a little worse. The decimal value is the engine's estimate of who's better in the position, and by the equivalent of how many pawns. Positive numbers mean white, negative mean black.
28.Raf1+? Doesn't this just throw away black's pressure? He swaps off the rook just to make white's pawns better and king safer. Why would he do that?
I didnt like the outcome of Kramnik - CarlsEn today. Houdini said -1.41 or something like that on my computer, after reinforcing the clock. Some guy listening to ICC said there were some arguing around the result actually.
I dont like Magnus timeconsume all the way. There was this checkthreath where he spent half of his time to chose between a bichop or queendefence. I mean..his family is watching. Pay some respect to them !! :D
Carlson is fantastic. His latest draw today against Kramnik was amazing. I was following it on ICC and the 2 GM's who were commentating were convinced Carlson was going down in flames out of the opening. However Kramnik couldn't find a winning plan and then became desperate. Although the game abruptly ended in a draw Carlson was actually 2.66 ahead if he had played Kb8! Best draw I've seen for some time!
I hope Kc is joking when he put such a obnoxious title and when he mentions that those guys watch KC's war zone game.. If not then this is a very pretentious and obnoxious state of mind.
KC is a good player but he is not a FIDE M GM or an IM. come back to earth KC.
@beatroot09 Magnus would be the logical candidate for the world championship. Unfortunately he didn't like the system they had in the candidates and he withdrew from the tournament. ( I think he was protesting the time controls becoming shorter and shorter if the games keep on ending in draws.)
@Minkki82 I think it was because the previous World Champion gets to the final without going through a long tournament. Like it is in Boxing. He believed it was unfair that the previous World Champion got such a big advantage to becoming WC again.
If you did ever make a DVD on the French or King's Indian or any opening, it would be great if as well as the theory you could show how the opening has evolved over time like in your chess evolution series, as well as more emphasis on how to play middlegames etc, not many publishers do this. Great video as usual, it's about time you start making some DVD's! I'd certainly buy anything you make on the: French and King's Indian openings, as long as it's done with the same quality as your analysis on your own + master games.
@LostTactic Agreed. KC is the number one to make DVD's for chess. Especially introduction-dvd's I guess. Simply because he's the one to take away the fright many people is having for the game, and to show what the game is all about; It is pure fun.
