@gunbojason It takes away/reduces glare. When you are driving and you see the "dot" of sunlight reflecting off of the other cars that will be greatly reduced also when your at the beach take a look at the water and you see the shine of the water as it moves, that is eliminated. Also they allow you to see into water MUCH better by taking away glare off the surface. I had non polarized flak jackets and loved them then upgraded to the polarized lenses and wont buy anything else.
@gunbojason No problem also it would help if you went from non polarized to polarized. That way you really get that "wow! what a difference thing going" because polarized lenses is all in the things that you dont see.
Well worth the cost, especially if you are outside daily. Makes everything much more defined, just gotta be careful when you are around LCD products as seen here.
the polarized black iridium are the best lenses on the market. get the hydrophobic coating as well. my juliets were hit by a car at 55 mph and lenses took it. I LOVE OAKLEY!!!
well there is a chart you get or can find on the oakley website of how transparent each lens is and grey is 19% transparent and the best is Black iridium polarized which is 9%
Not to mention they are the world ONLY "ABSOLUTE ZERO" distortion sunglass. and because of theat they produce the most natural and detailed images PERIOD. Because of this they are the number one optomotrist recomended sunglass in the world. Especially for people just coming out of lasik, or caterac surgery when the eye is the most vulnerable. I have worked in sunglasses for years and sold every kind to come down the pike. I were absolutly ONLY Maui Jims.
You guys really need to check out Maui Jims. They are the lightest glasses. Are ALL polorized, Waterproof, Saltwater non corrosive, Sweatproof. (same as Oakley hydrophobic) Made with purified shatterproof polycarbonite. (Same matteral as Oakley Plutonite). Enhance colors as you were them in bright sunshine. Are the only glasses in the world that can disperse sunlight away from the eye fron above, below, center, and BEHIND the lense. With there patented polorized plus2 technology.
Interesting, but all those reflective features will last only until the special coating washes off. Then, you'd have to buy a new pair.
Hey, I have a hard time figuring out which shape my head is. What the heck. The MJ Sport 407-02 fits my face almost perfectly. But MauiJim says that those are mainly for Diamond shaped heads, and my head is probably anything but that shape.
Mine says "gascan" on the left and "made in usa" along with "ce" on the right. But no serial number. I have the box which states exactly the ones that came in it. Also, warranty card, "join mailing list" card and black carry case with "genuine o software" on one side and "Plutonite lenses should only be cleaned with the provided sunglass bag"on the other side of the Tag. But no Serial number on the inside. Are they real? They're the Grape/Grey Model.
Yeah I have the same problem. I have a pair and everything is genuine except it doesn't have the white print of the serial number on the inside arm. Seeing this comment makes me feel a little bit better that they are not fake.
if they are polarised it should be written in the lower left corner of the left lens. Or a simple test is in the video. get an lcd screen(like an ipod for example) and rotate the lens it front of them. Polarised lens will darken the screen at certain angle (which is quite a paine when i try to select a track on my ipod while wearing them :p )
well if you are a driver it definitly worth it as it cut out the reflection you sometimes get on your windshield when the sun hits the dashboard. Otherwise not really. however polarised lense cut off more sunlight without being as dark as normal lenses.
simple answer is that the cut off glare reflecting from an horizontal surface (in the case of the sunglasses). For a more technical explanation you're better of checking out wikipedia ;)
What does a polarized lens and what is their use??

Maui DOES NOT have the same Technology of a "hyrdrophobic" lens, as Oakley repels water, Oleophobic, and Static Free...
Maui Jim's Have Layering....with their patented Plus 2 Technology...
Oakley Lenses are fused at the molecular level which means no Oakley is layered...unlike maui...which is better to see thru? 7 layers or 1?

I have a pair of Polarized Oakley half jackets, and I absolutely love them.
Also, I have a pair of Maui Jim Sport glasses, and love them as well.
Both feel very secure, and solid on my head, and have crystal clear view.

if you look on the box there will be a serial number wer it has two numbers and then a dash and then another three numbers what are the numbers??
(eg 67-666)
skopsy 1 year ago
@bluball57 you could always try dropping a 500 gram weight from 8 feet onto the lenses... that would tell you if they're genuine.

Well. If your shades does not do that (like the ones on youtube) you have recived the real one without polarizing.
