Salem is nuts. Found out about them a year or so ago on adult swims ATL RMX. Their recorded material kills it. The live show looks sketchy, but i would definately pay to see them.

That kind of drum and bass had a very claustrophobic intensity to it that some described as dark, i guess the name just stuck.

I don't know if it's an artsy statement, although they're probably aware that people might see it as such. To me (it's the first I ever saw or heard of them btw) it just looks like they fully don't give a shit what anyone thinks, and at least one of them is out of their tree on god knows what drugs.
