  • Remarkable!!

  • Shirley Verrett was a true great in my book. A favorite for a long time. Musical and technically flawless, warm and agile. I had the privilege of hearing her live at the Met when she sang with Beverly Sills in The Siege of Corinth by Rossini ... and I thought Shirley stole the show ... she was so solid. Thanks for sharing these recordings!

  • One of the best singers ever from the USA.

  • @robertdonkers No, one of the best singers ever from anywhere!! One of the very, very rare truly great singers.

  • without equal in some roles--- especially her scorching Lady Macbeth and Eboli. I love the way she looked in the Dalilah referenced above. None of the usual Hollywood/Ten Commandments campy silver lame dress, wigs and cartoon makeup. Her own short hair, looking like a goddess. Magnificent.

  • This woman was my teacher at the University of Michigan. I am one lucky girl.

  • now THAT's LEGATO (Orfeo)

  • Thats one incredible singer 500 stars

  • Very similar to Maria Callas...

  • @kenavo2103 But in terms of quality of voice Verrett was superior.

  • What a supreme artist and great voice !!!

  • I LIVE FOR THE VERRETT!
