Maynard played all kinds of cool solos especially back in the 50's. Then, he kept playing what people were paying to hear. An excellent performer and trumpet virtouso.

You do realize that not only do all of those guys look up to Maynard Ferguson, he is one of the few like the few you mentioned that can play high notes in context, also he had an amazing band, he almost always played musical and his high notes were some of the best in all of history
