I'm not defending my ancestors' behaviour but I would it really have mattered if Sweden would have refused to sell iron to the Germans? They would have just walked in and taken it instead, killing many thousands of people in the process. Is it cowardly to not do something that's basically suicide? (Also, FWI, there were thousands of Swedes that fought the Germans... but they fought them while wearing British, American, Russian or French uniforms. So we did fight them, but not officially)

Hitler wanted to make peace with Britannia 1940. He was not interested Bitannia and it´s Empire. Churchill did not want peace, becouse Germany had too powerfull position in Europe. Churchill knew 1940 that Germany has no possibilities to conquer Britannia when France surrendered 1940. RAF had nearly as much aircrafts as Luftwaffe, good quality aircrafts. Radar system made possible to use RAF very efectively. It was impossible for Germany to conquer Britannia protected by RAF and Royal Navy.

difficult to say, it was the british in greece that caused barbarossa to be delayed, allowing the russian winter to halt the german advance, the british blockade also strangled german particularly of oil, the British bombers were destroying german industry and it was the British supplying the soviets. at the very least it would of been a much tougher war for the soviets.

i do and don't agree with that, as the Germans had sustain so many losses in the battle of Britain that they couldn't keep up with the current assault, also the Germans made so many mistakes enabling the British to take advantage remain a strong air force as its fighter production was greater. It's too often forgotten that we (The British) fought two world wars in the twentieth century all the way through in defence of deocracy and freedom of the indiuvidual, we had to wait from 1914 to 1917, and then again from 1939 to 1941. We are not given a truthful image of the american attitudes to world war two - this "saving he day" rubbish is sickening.
Erm the navy sent one task force to follow the bismark, we still had the home fleet, med fleet and pacific fleet as japan was not in the war then. If you look at a list of active german surface ships during the battle of britian then you would see they virtually had nothing, a few pocket battle ships and a handle of destroyers cannot support a whole invasion.

Piotrreekkk, it's the British and French governments that had a mutual defense treaty with Poland.
Ask why Britain declared war on Germany, but not the Soviet Union for invading Poland, it was up to them to come to your defense, but failed.
The truth is, Britain needed all the help it could get to fight Hitler, so it was in their best interest to ally with Stalin, rather than anger him.
The U.K. couldn't do anything against Germany without the Soviet Union, and eventually, the U.S.

Yes he could have, quite easily. The only thing that saved Britain from certain defeat in the Battle of Britain, was the fact that Hitler switched from attacking RAF fighter airfields in the south of England, to bombing London, after Churchill ordered the bombing of Berlin in retaliation for a rogue attack on London.

To THthefirst: True what you say - Hitler had 70% of the Nazi troops targeting the Russians, only 30% against the British, the Americans and allies. The Nazi's would have been dragged out into an endless war or eventualy defeated by the Soviets.

I used to have this on a double video VHS as a kid, it had the memphis belle documentary, then 2 wartime cartoons that were extremely bizzare and psychadelic, then it had THIS movie!
It was my favortie tape as a kid, ALL of my family were air force pilots since the dawn of time, and this movie scared this shit out of me, i use to watch it in a dark room when I was like 6 or 7 and have a great time getting creeped out and nervous about a nazi invasion that was never going to come to New Jersey.

Hitler wanted to make peace with Britannia 1940. He was not interested Bitannia and it´s Empire. Churchill did not want peace, becouse Germany had too powerfull position in Europe. Churchill knew 1940 that Germany has no possibilities to conquer Britannia when France surrendered 1940. RAF had nearly as much aircrafts as Luftwaffe, good quality aircrafts. Radar system made possible to use RAF very efectively. It was impossible for Germany to conquer Britannia protected by RAF and Royal Navy.

Well, had we not won at Alamein thousands of toops, tanks and planes would have swampe |the USSR and it would have tipped the scales so there would have been a greater chance of Germany polishing off Russia, had they made greater gains they would have got the Japs to put off the Pearl Harbour attack then when the USSR was fully occupied they would have polished off the rest of Britain and hop over the Bearing Sea and we would all be singing the Horst Wessel Lied.

difficult to say, it was the british in greece that caused barbarossa to be delayed, allowing the russian winter to halt the german advance, the british blockade also strangled german particularly of oil, the British bombers were destroying german industry and it was the British supplying the soviets. at the very least it would of been a much tougher war for the soviets.

A German invasion may have actually failed.
Even if the Royal Navy lost 60% of its power to Luftwaffe attacks in the Channel, it would still cut the Germans from the French coast, and stop anymore supplies reaching England.
The Home Guard only had to slow the Germans, long enough for the Royal Navy to arrive in the Channel.
This would then give the British time to build up its forces and launch a devastating counter attack on the besieged Germans.

i do and don't agree with that, as the Germans had sustain so many losses in the battle of Britain that they couldn't keep up with the current assault, also the Germans made so many mistakes enabling the British to take advantage remain a strong air force as its fighter production was greater. So if the Germans kept attacking Britain it would have eventually destroyed its own air force and the German Navy could not compete with the Royal Navy so a landing assault was have suicide.

Not only that, the British were what kept the allied cause alive until Operation Barbarossa, for after France fell, Britain was the only allied power that hadn't been consumed by the Third Reich (It is true that War Supplies sent by the United States greatly assisted this effort, but it was the British themselves who fought off the Germans in the Battle of Britain.)

It's too often forgotten that we (The British) fought two world wars in the twentieth century all the way through in defence of deocracy and freedom of the indiuvidual, we had to wait from 1914 to 1917, and then again from 1939 to 1941. (although the righteousness of anybody in the first world war may certainly be impugned.) We are not given a truthful image of the american attitudes to world war two - this "saving he day" rubbish is sickening.

Erm the navy sent one task force to follow the bismark, we still had the home fleet, med fleet and pacific fleet as japan was not in the war then. If you look at a list of active german surface ships during the battle of britian then you would see they virtually had nothing, a few pocket battle ships and a handle of destroyers cannot support a whole invasion.
