not true at all. you clearly dont need any lesson as iv never had 1 lesson in my life and im way adavanced for only 1yrs playing i started at the bottom knowing basically nothing, i had the crappest STRAT guitar worth about £40 that played poor i only knew basic chords couldent even imagine to play power chords, 1 yr later nearly im soloing and playing to Kirk hammetts Metallica cds, and iv now just got a £500 guitar, never had 1 lesson and im doing great, very proud of myself

Even if you've never had a lesson, every piece of music you've ever heard is instruction in some sense. I think learning to play Rain Song by Led Zepplin for example was more influential to my sense of harmony and voicing than the 2 years i spent with a bad instructor. Don't be afraid of lessons, but don't be afraid to approach your instrument every time like it is your ultimate teacher. - it can and will teach you more than anyone else in the long run.
@StrongHeartLives so true only you your fingers your mind and your guitar can learn what you whatever you want to learn, its all about how much you want to play it and how serious you are about being good. every1 who says its better to have lessons is just nonsence, cause iv never had any teacher, learned myself from the bottom, and come a very long way, i say its better to find your own style, and learn by your mistakes and not learn some1 elses mistakes.
dude... youre the bomb!! i can attest to the whole lesson not ruining creativity, in fact it BOOSTS it for sure!! especially this one thing my teacher had me do... i came home recorded a few chords in one key, i think it was E, and then he told me to solo over it in that same key. probably gonna do it in other keys as well cause that definitely helps. Id recommend going to a campus bookstore and picking up the book they use to teach students. i did it and this book has everything!!
i agree, in fact i don't think that it's even possible to be 'self-taught' nowadays. if i watch your videos or any video lesson, i am technically being taught by someone else. sure it's not the same as face to face teaching (no feedback), but I'm still learning from someone else. also, good advice for practicing music.
