Bipolar people are more prone to smoke marijuana too. These things are used to "self-medicate" (as I did years ago with alcohol, cigarettes, & pot). It had me SOOO anxious/paranoid. Thankfully I saw the light and quit both pot and cigs cold turkey on the same day. That was in August of 2004 and I haven't relapsed once. Alcohol was more of a binge/party thing and I don't do that anymore so I only drink occasionally now. Can't drink much on my meds anyway. :)

I have a new psych that says she treats symptoms, not diagnosis. You & I both know each Bipolar person is different but there are red flags waving with this woman. I hate mania. I tend to have mixed episodes or rapid cycling. So far the combination of meds my psychiatrist has me on is working pretty well. I feel a lot better lately. I'm not ashamed to tell strangers I have this disease. Glad you aren't either. She really should get some help though. She's too old for public tantrums & meltdowns.
