  • Great job!!

  • Man, can that lil' girl play her some gurrtar! BEST version of "Telstar" this side of the original Tornados version! Loudest, too! ENERGY, girl! Love it!!!

  • Please change the title back to add chicchi's name.

I looked forever to find it again.

  • Superb ...

  • Godmorning world

  • When it comes to tribute bands some of the very best always hail from Japan! Good work!

  • Please check out the new version of Telstar. TELSTAR by the DUELLING PIANOS... comes with a great video!

  • Super! :D

  • おお。すごい!

  • well done little one

  • I like it, a very good performance and assemble.

  • All I can say is..WOW

  • It's always funny to watch Japanese try to look like white people.

  • i love telstar. thank you for this video.

    Love forever,

    Paul

  • The tornados had the song written for them by joe meek , it was the first british band to get a number 1 stateside and nearly worldwide , i didnt say anything bad about the ventures i think they are an awsome band its just that Telstar is a Tornados tune. its like me putting............wipe out / cover of the tornados

  • Japanese make it smaller do it better, hahah maybe she is a robot! love this ,so would Margret Thatcher wierd eh!

  • That was EXCELLENT!

  • Good Job Great job

    Keep up the good work

  • beautiful CHICHI and the group, (of course)

    love this image/sound...

    thanks!

  • Chicchi rocks Beautiful child and Amazing Guitarist Believe it, this kid is lead guitar!

  • I love this on so many levels I can't even express them all :)

  • Looks as if Sony has gone mad ?

  • lol, who's more passionate....the japanese musicians or the viewers who come in here....148,069 views!

the kid looks cute and cool same time

  • The Japanese appreciate good music long after Americans have either forgotten it or rejected it.

  • @Vercingetorix2006 Japanese are wise people, you can see it in innovations or things like immigration and culture, they preserve their own althought they get influences. By the way, this was originally by The Tornados, not The Ventures. Great cover although!

  • HA HA AAAA HA HAAA HA HA! One of the Ventures finest moments! HA ha GREAT!

  • I've seen this girl play in person. She's the real deal. Yes, the lead.

This group does a very nice cover. I got kind of choked up listening to it because it's about spot on with a few of their own bits added in.

Telstar is one of my all time fave songs ever. The Ventures have been my idols since the 60s. They are, without hesitation, the greatest instrumental guitar band of all time, hands down. Thousands of acts throughout history owe their existence to The Ventures.

  • This just goes to prove Joe Meeks music will live on FOREVER.

  • It's pretty well done. She has great potential. I started playing the guitar a few months ago. And I haven't got a teacher or anything so I basically just learn every song I please myself. I'm down to Apache and Sleepwalk. I'm think of making this my next song that I'll learn. And I don't know a single note on the guitar, I just play.

  • Even in Japan, Telstar was hun enige hit.

  • you have 4 guitarists who cares if you have a little 9 year old girl with them? I dont really see the point...

  • The more guitars, the better. She might be doing the lead too - hard to see.

  • did the venture record a song called WHEELS

  • surfchill,is this guy retarded ???

  • this one is good too campared other versions of telstar >.>

  • I like the Tornadoes version better.

  • Well they're the Ventures - ther're KNOWN for their covers! But they wouldn't have sold all those 100 million records if it weren't for their amazing musicianship and all those great killer filler songs they wrong for the albums. 'Mariner 4' may not have been a top 10 hit but its as lovely as 'Telstar' itself.

  • You called Dick the king then call him a joke. Which is it? Instrumental bands will always take a back seat to vocal bands so, the Beach Boys don't count. If the Ventures are 100% cover band then what about Surf Rider, Ginza Lights, Kyoto Doll, Stranger In Midosuji and many others that were hits in Japan. They're gods in Japan. Hell, even their covers/arangements are better than most originals. Where are the Chanteys today? right..

  • @Fendervana Amen, brother. Very few groups can hold a candle to the Ventures, who have been rocking for 50 years..

  • LMAO, how do you define hit, top 40? The Billboard charts are a joke. Very few surf tunes where hits.. Second, Miserlou was a cover and how many hits did Dick Dale have? Umm yea..

  • Awesome version. Really well done.

  • Spudnik later called Surfrider. And no, The Lively Ones didn't write it.

  • Hey dingbat, The Ventures did many covers but they also wrote their own material. I bet you couldn't even cover one of their songs..

  • I can't find one original song they did, all their popular songs are covers for sure. I know their fans are really touchy about this, but it's just a fact. If they wrote their own songs, then how come no one can name one?

  • Nokie wrote Surf Rider.. They did write other songs, most of which were big hits in Japan.

And, there covers were often much better than the originals with the Ventures' agrangements.

  • nice video

  • What bass has that guy got? It's nice...

  • A Mosrite bass.

  • not ventures! The Tornadoes!!!!!

  • Love that sound! Good job!

  • It;s not Californian surfing music! It was by the British group the Tornados, produced by Joe Meek. The original hit was recorded in his house.

  • Wow! Hello Kitty goes surf'in!

  • Yeaaaa- that girl is flat the whole time! ITs driving me crazzzyyy

  • That was really nice....Looks like the girl stole the show. Great version!

  • Thank you girl.Fantastic song.

  • Seems like the girl is the star of the outfit. Credible job of a classic. Thank you.

  • Wow! This is great!

  • This can't be a easy song to play and it sounded good too! My mom still has a 45 by the Tornado's that we used to listen too when I was just a kid.. I remember the tune :)

  • Chicchi & Sweet Papa own this song!

  • Very talented and well done cover! Joe Meek would be proud..........!

  • Is this a family ?

  • I agree, it was an excellent performance. The drummer also hits the mark.

  • The original of Telstar is of The Tornadoes! Not all songs of that time were by the Ventures you know..

  • not too bad,,,damn good job

  • The title was corrected.

  • What do you have against the Japanese?

    The girl is great!

  • Totaly misleading as the best ever version was done by the tornados the ventures only copied them

  • @VietnamSurfer The Ventures didn't "copy" anyone. They just happened to record a song that many others recorded. How many records did the Ventures sell vs how many did the Tornados sell? How long have the Ventures existed vs how long have the Tornados existed? It doesn't matter who recorded a song first or whether that person or group "wrote" the song or not. Three Dog Night had many hits and didn't write them. The Monkees had many hits and didn't write them. That's what songwriters are for.

  • @limeytrash --You are certainly trash. The playing is great~

  • Pepeplviz ,,, Donde puedo comprar sus musica , o cual es su paginawev

where a buy you music , and your webpage please

  • Ummm..cute, but I am not going to burn any classical vinyl over this one.

  • wow chicchi is so amazing for her age, she rocks!

  • Intonation? Tuning? Bollocks!

  • They are great. That little girl can play.

  • now there is a talented little girl.

  • this band steals my heart every time and the tassil is adorable on chicchi's guitar too!

  • Love this video and Chicci is adorable

  • Good job Guys and Chicchi!

If you pick up the beat a little bit, it will even be better!

  • the song was very well played, but your instruments need to be either:

    a. tuned properly

    b. intonation adjusted on all guitars

    c. both

  • Great... My favourate song of all time !!! You have done it justice.. Enjoyed it

  • The guy on the far left is hideously funny.

  • What? you are so gorgeous with a guitar? Takes guts to perform classics

    an

  • I played this video 15x already. Does anybody know where to get a CD or another video of the band in action? Chicci is amazing!

  • Great song. You play it very well. Thanks for all the work you all put into this song. It sounds great!

  • Cool!! I use to have this song on a little tape recorder that I used mike to copy off the radio. Great song back in the day!!

  • Great playing but that has to be one of the stranist thing I have seen, talk about a non sequitur. A nine year old asian girl playing 45 year old california surf music, wow!

  • I know it sounds trite, but music is the language of the world!

  • Very Talented

  • Fun! Thanks for posting this gem!

  • Sorry,I got this wrong initially. She's playing lead either with or behind the guy with glasses on her left.

  • Sorry, lead guitar !!!!

  • Cool performance, especially from the little lady with the bass guitar!!

  • This group done justice to a very incredible song!! I would definitely purchase a CD of their music!!

  • Is this a musical family?,is that Dad on lead guitar? and a nine year old playing bass!.Congratulations on a very good cover!

  • This is great!!!

  • I love Chicchi ! She would make any parent extremely proud

  • -backround for the Cartrights heading down to the Ponderosa south 40 to investigate the fallen Telstar (temporal anomaly) whereby Ben gets beamed up into BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

  • It might be the effects processing that imparts that slightly out of tune surf noir

vibe on her lead guitar.Should the bassist

throw in some Chris Squire like "Ventures

Fun's" (related videos) or would it get to

    busy?They rocketh for sure!

  • Good job Chicchi! You play better than many adult guitar players!

  • i too play this song but yall are way beyond me kudos

  • This was just great, very close to the original

    by the The Tornados

  • well fair play to you guys - you are great!

  • You know, I think this is the best version of Telstar I've ever heard. I salute you.

  • love this version. very good twang sound love it !!

  • I agree with DJC0247 and others, this is an excellent rendition of telstar even if the group is not the ventures, WELL DONE!!! little girl and the rest of the group I'll look forward to another of your video's

  • What was the little girl doing out past 8 at night, and what Thanksgiving party were they at?

  • k not bad 4 9 years!!!!!

  • Precious,PRecious,PRECIOUS!!!!!!!

  • BEST Video, Best Song, Best Performance!

FIVE STARS ***** and ***** more!

The most ispirational musical act ive seen here! -czon

  • that little girl is so good for her age .. she can really play guitar...Keep it up...

  • The little girl is awesome. The older man on the far right very, very good, also. Who ever found this video??

  • I can't believe how well that little girl plays! and I've been playing a fender tele since I was 16 [I'm now 49] really good to see these young people playing good music....dad must be very proud indeed!

  • Who in the hell is this?!! The Ventures could fart better than this video!!

  • im going to go out on a limb and say this is not the vebtures

  • good cover but why cant someone find an old clavioline and use it instead of just all guitars

  • Is the Bass player playing a Mosrite ?? Sure looks like one.

  • What's that hanging on her guitar?

  • her favorite hamster!

  • According to Beatpops, the rhythm guitarist is Mr.Tomono and this gentleman is very highly regarded in Japan. He is the best rhythm guitarist that I have ever seen. All of Chicchi's support band musicians are superb.

  • Very good rendition.

  • Hey very well done!!!!

  • She's great, but check out the rhythm guitar player too. He just goes beserk sometimes.

  • There was a lawsuit against Meek for supposed copyright infringement which kept royalties tied up for several years (Meek should have been rich!) and to make things worse The Tornados were stopped from touring by being contracted as backing band for Billy Fury. It was finally settled in Meek's favour in 1968, the year after his death.

  • this is a great version but didn't joe meek steal this tune from the french composer Jean Ledrut ?

  • This is a really good likeness to the great Tornados' TELSTAR. I did read something about a French composer. If you want a more obvious example, listen to Venus in Blue Jeans by Mark Wynter then Globetrotter by the Tornados. Or try Life on Venus by the Tornados, which uses the same first few bars as Telstar. And if you ever watched a TV show called High Chapperral I vaguley remember the theme to that be similar to Telstar.

  • Joe Meek who wrote this in the 1960's would love your version of his song very close to the original! well done!

  • For her age, that kid is really amazing! Good job!

  • Nice work!

  • I love your performance! I cry!

  • 60's alive and well in japan.

  • good stuff,well played!

  • one of them should learn the clavinova to make it complete.

  • On the 4th of July, I gave my 10 year old cousin my old fender strat and amp ,with a ventures cd and ramones cd and wished her luck. She had expressed interest in the guitar but it had to be electric, she said.I'm gonna wait till she learns to play before I give her the "Whammy Bar"..Tremolo bar

  • You would have been better off giving her a 'Shadows' cd. I think the music is is more receptive to young ears.

  • The original music was by the Tornados

  • She was great and she was complimented by an excellent band. Excellent

  • This was great!!! I'm very impressed and have been a Ventures fan since the early '60s!! The Japenese LOVED the Ventures!!!

  • This young girl is headed straight to the top. Venturekid56

  • That young lady would make a father proud!=Stefan=

  • Their live performance is as good as the Venture in a studio. Amazing!

  • the Spotniks must be worried

  • so must be The Ventures

  • this brings a tear to my eye

  • I agree she is incredible-but so is the rest of the band. They just flat out NAILED the song. Tight drumming-perfect mix- a great job by all!

  • i want to be her next time around...she is incredible
