Hmm. I retried it, spent 8 hours with it.

Still not even close to corona. On hour 2 with Corona I had complex physics interacting, score system, collision events, etc etc.

So I have revisited it, and once again it pissed me off so I bailed.

With livecode everything feels so disconnected. The environment is just not appealing and clunky.

@koalaballer Ben's background is as a graphic designer, so he's excellent with the art. He has never used Objective C and this was the first iphone app he ever made.. he has however used LiveCode before to make desktop applications.

And he really did make it all in just 3 hours and 16 minutes... Ben is very talented and LiveCode lets him put that talent to good use.

I tried live code, then I tried Corona SDK. Never looked back, I think live code is really more for apps than games.

I guess it's the right tool for the job, Corona SDK has over 22 million game downloads, a 1000's of games made with it. Someone told me live code was great, and for apps I can see that just not for games really.

@Derekcanskate hi there, sorry about the delay in getting back to you. You can only deploy to iOS from the Apple OS - this is a restriction that Apple have in place regardless of the tool/programming language you use. The apple tools will only work on Apple OS. Hope this helps.

@herbalteadavid thanks for the question. For this video Ben designed at 320 x 480 at 126 PPI in photoshop.

However, since the iPhone 4 release Ben suggests designing at 1024x768 at 326 PPI and then scaling down for the iPhone 3, 4 and iPad. It ensures that you have high res artwork no matter the device. You could also design in illustrator to take advantage of vectors making the design future proof - but Photoshop is usually quicker. Hope this helps.

Full-blown apps can be made also, but it takes a little bit more. If you really want to get into this stuff, drop by makeanappj and you'll see what I mean. But you can be a 'for real' apps developer, you just have to learn it. That's all any of the successful guys did.
