  • I have to meet John Baxter in this life,,,,

    suggestions?

  • I have been obsessed with this song all my life..so who knows what John Baxter is doing now(vocals)

  • My all time favorite

  • POLITICS OF DANCING in 2012

  • Uploaded to Ipod for dez racing in Arizona!!!

  • Still love this song.

  • Nice job on the mastering.

  • 106.7 KROQ LOS ANGELES

  • The 80's, there will never be another decade like it.

  • I used to LOVE this song back in the day! God, I miss the 80's!

  • yes, in the 80's they were dancin now they are stealing. great song and time, not no more. corruption is now widespread 30 years later

  • 6 terrorist disliked this song.

  • @frankevega LOL

  • Hey lay off the Kardashians, what would the world be like without highly attractive women with "child-bearing" hips!

  • Very interesting song....repetitive beat and all....like this a whole lot....!!!!

  • Lord I miss the 80s...and the lead singer is CUUUUTE!

  • One of the best songs to dance to in the early 80's!!!Great times!

  • EXCELLENT TRACK! When Americans had exceptional taste in music. This band is British but this was a bigger hit here.

  • Saw them open for the Thompson Twins in Rochester NY. Thomas Dolby was in the balcony with us too. Good times

  • ACE

  • Lotsa Bowieism here, from voice inflection, to verse ('from station to station' @ 0:56). To a USA that was sorely missing danceable pop from its 70s stars, this filled a temp. niche in early '83 just before Bowie dropped his massively commercial pop album, 'LET'S DANCE' on the world. That pretty much killed most of these upstart Bowie clones, Gary Numan's career took a massive downward spiral at this juncture as well. He did, however, weather the storm, thanks in no small part to Numanoids.

  • A one-hit wonder, but a good one...I expected more dancing in this video.

  • I could barely hear the music over all the 80's that was in this video.

  • i would of synchronized so well with this time

  • The production and sound are just so tight. Nothing like the 80s.

  • It is all about the 80"s!

    Enjoy this !

It is a song among many others that can never be duplicated!

  • Heard this on Sirius Radio station 33/New Wave yesterday. Totally worth the subscription $, local radio in my town blows.

  • ah,the 80s. good,sometimes pointless,classic music.

  • groovy?

  • the 80's bring back great memories, IMO the brits had the best music

  • The only politics I generally follow.....

  • man oh man i use to love this song .TURN IT UP and the awsome 80's and the best era for music no doubt it

  • I never knew Geraldo Rivera was a singer. :)

  • @malcolmxray lol

  • *added* to my 80s music playlist. i'm 17. this song is a-freakin-mazing.

  • @HelloMello4221 .... Timeless!

  • @HelloMello4221 I heard this when I was very young..but remembered...sounds even better now.

  • @HelloMello4221 It is one in a million..it gets caught in your head....I was lucky to have had a much older sister who listened to all the pop music..and I was a kid but I remember this well....I wish those of your generation had the kind of music we had to grow upto.

  • I absolutely love this song, with my favorite part starting at 2:46. Those kids are rocking it on those skates. Nice memories from my teen years.

  • One of the songs that defined '80s dance music for me.

  • Great song, gay video.

This is so gay it's embarrassing to watch.

  • I was just thinking about how chicks like to have sex but they freak out if they think thats all you want. Even though you're clearly in it for more than that. I hate it when chicks complicate things. Thats what this song is about to me. How people (guys and gals) complicate the dating thing with their hang ups.

  • Great beat and good dance song....

  • @PpAaUuL89 OMG! Great observation!

  • Mullets. Coooooool.

  • The guy on the keyboards has a mullet. Coooooool.

  • Please Lord, Send me Back to the 80' I'm dying in this era of 2011, God have mercy on me

  • @MrJimmypage32 Im with you

  • @MrJimmypage32

I feel ya, it has come back musically, and fashion wise, movie remakes, but theres so much missing, the 80s had so much culture of it's own, today it's just..depressing.

  • groovy

  • Far frigging out. LOVE IT!!!

  • Loved it then love it now

  • Another to be continued at the end of a video of a one hit wonder. I have seen this more than a few times. Don't jinx yourself artists with To be continued. You may never hit again.

  • @PpAaUuL89 How many people do you think even know who Michael Medved is? Although I do and when I read your joke it made me laugh. You may not get many more laughs because it is simply over the head of the reader. But well played.

  • Yes I bet you wish it is 1984 nowdays really suck.

  • I'm going to follow this with RELAX by Frankie Goes to Hollywood and get my groove on.

  • @dagnyatl ....Right On.....AWESOME!

  • @dagnyatl awesome!

  • @dagnyatl me too!

  • I remember when this song was new, my friend was always singing it, and I didn't know what the hell he was talking about, so I'm like 'neil, what type of song is that you're singing, is it classic rock?' he's like "Yep" 'Is it Disco?' "Yep" 'Is it Top 40?' "Yep" Come to find out, he was right on all counts! ;)

  • I never knew Saddam Hussein as the lead singer of this group.

  • One of my favorite songs from my youth. Come check out my cover.

  • Top Club Hit from that decade of AWESOMEness ... oh the '80s, a decade like no other. Bust out the parachute pants and bolo ties ... yeeeah!

  • I had NEVER known who sang this song...and it was one of my faves!!! Thanks for posting

  • LOVE this 1980's song!

  • I actually got to see ReFlex open for Cyndi Lauper back in the early '80's. I think she had just come out with "true Colors" Saw them at SUNY at Stonybrook with a few friends.

  • Awesome song and video. The "B" side to this "Flex- It" Is an awesome song. It never made it to their original album, or any of their cds (as far as I know). Too darn good not to be on cd.

  • How could you not like a music video that shows someone wearing Pittsburgh Steelers colors. Great song.

  • Hey isn't that Kitty? 3:27 From that 70's show LOL

  • I have been listening to this song since '83, and I haven't tired of it yet.

  • this is great blasted on a good stereo!

  • Wabbitt124, need more info, please.

Evidently all the "cool kids" decided to put b/w stuff on FB. Found naught with regards to the actual band, sadly.

  • Back when the airwaves weren't polluted with hip-hop and Justin Bieber!

  • @WildBill6942 My friend at work is under the impression the latest hits are the greatest hits. Then he gave me a Glee disc, and I listened to Proud Mary, ok!

  • @supermandisco ..... No one should have or want to listen to anything GLEE. Glee is ruining great music under the guise of entertainment. Stick with the original articles and keep TRUE music alive.

  • @supermandisco --- ugh! Too funny.

  • god bless the 80's!

  • Just a great song!!!!

  • This song makes me want to jump on the dance floor, not caring who sees me, rip my shirt off and primal scream, before going into a funky groove dance like the guy does at 3:14! The beat is horrendously addictive, even now…is this a political song? Who cares? I get carried away anyways!

  • The very 1st time I heard this song was in 1996 at a Nightclub devoted to "80's flashback" music on Wednesday nights.

  • Squeeeeeeeeeeee!! You're my new favorite channel!!!!!! "we got the message...." Love It!!!!!!

  • FUCKING awesome song!

  • 1980's... ahh what a time to go up in... well i miss those days.. the music of today just is full of CRAP!

  • @Geo77551 Agree 100% especially in America. Music of the 2000's is total shit.

  • not to worry, soon the music industry will ban this video as a copyright violation.

  • @zillsburyy Or almost as bad, VEVO will create a "ReflexVEVO" channel and we'll have the priviledge of seeing this, only after being forced to sit through one of their INCREDIBLY INTERESTING adverts...

  • 80's music videos were so cool. Much better than anything today.

  • This is one of those songs that instantly takes me back...WOW i'm 13 again getting my groove on at the Junior High dance..lol....I Love and Miss the 80's!!

  • Makes one appreciate life!

  • "From far & wide the forces of evil are gathering. Their mission to seek out & destroy." No doubt those words ring very true nowadays. For the very talented people who wrote those words probably had no idea how right on the money & prophetic they were. For the larger corporate powers & banking interests that be are certainly seeking, as I write these words, to take control of every media outlet in the World so as to disseminate & spread their insidious, misleading & pro-corporate propaganda!

  • LOVE ,LOVE, LOVE.........OOOOOOO FEELING GOOD! ;)

  • tracks like this remind me of my high-school years and a MUCH more optimistic and fun-loving America.

  • @panthervoodoo yah and Full of Bright Blinding Neon Colors! :D

  • @panthervoodoo remember how much we hated when our parents or grandparents would pull that back in the day crap, at least they had a respectable generation to compare to today, but the 80's....give me a break

  • @thedude888890

I guess you know the cliche about opinions and A-holes,eh? It's pretty obvious from your comment you weren't a part of anything meaningful in the 80s, so I guess I wasn't addressing you with my nostalgia.

  • @panthervoodoo

Your nostalgia may have fallen on deaf ears with that imbecile, but it didn't with me. We're on the same page dude.

I miss the girls, the music, the vibe, the fun times, the styles, the girls, oh! Did I mention the GIRLS?

Their makeup and those cute 80's hairstyles.........I digress!

  • @n8tureboy .... INDEED, well said!

  • @n8tureboy OK I stand corrected, besides the girls, vibe, styles, makeup and those cute hairstyles the 80's were pretty crappy. I also agree that the music was better then todays garbage, but I don't agree that america was any more fun loving and optimistic, just more ignorant. Also, whats with the name calling? Just because I disagree means that i'm an imbecile and an a-hole?

  • @thedude888890

Whoa! Now hold on there young buck. I wasn't trying to slam you with that comment, maybe I just got carried away a little. Sorry. Don't take it to personal, that's your opinion and it's just as valid as mine.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree with your 80's comment that's all. 80's for me, were the best.

    More ignorant then? LOL!

At least people then wouldn't faun all over lady Gagme? We had real music then!

  • @panthervoodoo

I'm with ya' brother. I'd go back to the 80's in a NY minute! And I wouldn't look back either.

  • @panthervoodoo i am so with you on that

  • @panthervoodoo TRUE and back then everyone who WANTED a good job HAD a good job. My step-dad (from Europe) saw this the first time I did and said "It looks like a jab at communist eastern Europe since you could get arrested for playing the 'wrong kind' of music." The only modern music approved by the commies was Elton John and instrumental jazz. "Is this message understood?" would definitely get you unwanted attention - all for artistic freedom.

  • @dieselscience you know what's strange to me? I have completely lost sight of the 'warmth' brought about by the "Fall of Communism" and the end to the cold war. The America has progressively become a more intolerant, stifled kind of place. I went to Europe in 2001 and recall the vibrant atmosphere and zest for life people seemed to have, especially in former eastern block countries like Poland. Its really ironic how things played out over the subsequent decade and how cynical Americans have become

  • @panthervoodoo--I long for the America of the past especially life before the internet, cellphones, 24 hour news cycle, stock options, etc. Life wasn't perfect in the past, but it was organic. People weren't so defined by technology (Farcebook/Twit), fashion (Sex & The City, Real Sluts of Orange County), money and all these other status symbols like they are today. Its all about fitting in and staying ahead. The price we pay for that is being anxious, insecure and self-centered. Its sad imho.

  • @DestroyerofSouls666 I find your comments ironically right on. I was all prepared to be annoyed by your spin on my thread, but I guess thats what I get or assuming based on your,er,provocative name. Very right on comment friend.

  • @DestroyerofSouls666 Amen! Bring back the 80s! We all survived just fine without cell phones, Facebook and the Kardashians

  • @DestroyerofSouls666 I blame 9/11.

  • @panthervoodoo I grew up on Germany in the late '80s and things are DEFINITELY different now.

  • @panthervoodoo IN..

  • The politics of poopin', the politics of feeling good, the politics of dropping it long!

  • @waterhead001 It fits in with all the corruption in Washington on both sides.

  • @ScorpioBornIn69 Both sides are so corrupt you don't have a choice. Because the people who have corrupted Washington control both sides. :)

  • Ballad of Gay Ass Tony

  • Ahhhhhhh, those wonderful nights dancing to this at the club in 1984.

  • @Simon5005 I envy you, I really do. I hated growing up in the 2000's.

  • I had this one in a cassette...

  • tthis song is BRILLIANT!!!! ir ranks right up their with FUTANTS like tool!! the sound is different but both are LIGHT YEARS ahead of their time!!!

  • ... The PoLiTiCs of F* *King...

  • oh snap i completly forgot about this one!

  • I CANNOT SIT STILL...GOTTA DANCE!!!!!!!

  • That girl at 1:58 is HOT!!! Also, what wonderful creativity & originality that those who made this super cool video displayed, for it is truly unique in the best way possible!

  • @sxlfkta 158 ditto

  • JUST GOT THE BOX SET... ALL 6 CD's.... FANTASTIC.... SO HAPPY...!!! re-flex info trust me... if you are a Re-Flex fan it is so worth it...!!!!

  • Wow I had almost forgot this one. Once again great music cannot be forgotten. Is this message understood

  • Another magnificent one hit wonder from that awesome & vibrant decade of many magnificent one hit wonders! For songs such as this put music these days to complete shame, it's that bad while this wonderful & euphoric inducing song is that GREAT, as was much of the music back then! Bring back the 80's!!!

  • Heavy cover of this song song! Come see! watch?v=wdwi56zJfRs

  • Just letting everyone on YouTube know the Re-Flex Connect site was launched today and the 'Re-Fuse' CD box set and other merchandise is now available! Anyone interested in more info please PM me and I'll give you the site's URL. Cheers!

  • Ladies and Gentleman, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson on bass guitar!

  • @kash222041 lmao........had to copy and paste this....one of the best movies EVER!Raoul Duke:Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming: Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

  • Now this is politics we can all deal with!

Man I miss the music from this time!

  • i found this song because of grand theft auto and the radio station vice city fm on it

  • we've been promised new re-flex music for months now.. so close so close.. then nothing.. it will never happen. I've signed up for the mailing list a dozen times, without a single acknowledgement. How to turn your back on your fans 101..

  • @jimlaubhan The mailing list is to grant priority access once the website is launched. I agree it's been a long wait and there have been delays, some of which were unavoidable, but the project is still on track. In fact, I received word from Paul's GM just a week ago that everything is almost ready. The website is the final phase and that's nearly done. So, please be patient a little while longer? And feel free to PM me with any questions -- I can also ensure you are signed up. Cheers! :)

  • @wabbitt124 thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. Of COURSE I'll be patient, and can't wait. That's excellent news. I appreciate you letting me know I am signed up for priority access once it's launched.

  • @jimlaubhan You're very welcome, and I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier. :) I try to check YouTube comments fairly regularly but I fell a bit behind lately. I'm in direct contact with the band and receive news from them first-hand and post that here as well as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc. I also forward fan mail *to* the band, so that's what I meant about ensuring you're signed up. Anyone else concerned about this can PM me and I will forward your info to Paul for the list. Cheers! :)

  • a trace of you on my heart

  • Double keyboards & electronic drums.....classic...Rock Band!!!!!

  • I had not heard this song in ages !!! Then, the name suddenly came to my mind for no reason at all, and I decided to look for it -- VOILA, here it is. Ah, the 80's , those times I surely miss !!!

  • oh yeah

  • Whoever arranged this song is genius, you hear those gorgeous layers of synthesizer blending with guitar and those crushing Roland keyboards!! Why do our ears have to take such punishment these days with crap music...please please more politics of feeling GOOD!!!

  • @Preki12 Well said ! I agree 100%. And the lyrics are so true -- are the feeling and vibe of the 80's not well-reflected in this song?

  • @gal80s YES...... the feeling and vibe of the 80's are alive and constant throughout this track!! Great songwriting as well!! Thnx

  • @Preki12 Exactly ! That is what is missing in this decade: the politics of dancing, the politics of oooh, feeling good, the politics of moving -- is this message understood! Well, in the 80's we took that message to heart and brought us happiness!

  • Back in a time when music was fun and enjoyable to listen to. Does anyone know what make that auto is in this video?

  • @gpof1952 Funny you should ask! :) According to the Internet Movie Cars Database, the black one first seen at about 0:18 and appearing frequently throughout the video is a 1953 Citroën 11 Normale. Also, at 1:29 is a 1975 Ford Transit MkI (the blue auto at right), at 0:41-0:43 is a Mercedes-Benz SL [R107] (with the couple listening to the car radio), and at about 3:32 is a 1961 Volvo P1800 (in the background at left). Just FYI! :)

  • @wabbitt124 Thanks for this info. All the times I've watched this video I had an eye on that cool looking auto, which you pointed out was the Citroen II Normale.

  • @gpof1952 You're welcome. :) BTW, there's a similar auto in the video for "Praying to the Beat' (at about 0:45), which someone also has posted on YouTube. I can't copy the URL here, but you if search for "re-flex praying to the beat", it's the one on TigerTiger83's channel.

  • Why can't women look like the one at 1:59? (Someone made a comment earlier about the look.) Heavy eye shadow, damn, I miss the 80s!

  • @SluggoF16 I rather like the blonde's hair at 0:58. And their clothes, also -- white blouses with black ties. Agreed, time for some '80s retro! And, as a woman, I'd like to see more of it return for the guys, as well. I'm glad, at least, to see Mohawks making a comeback, like (drummer) Roland -- and even a few fellas sporting (lead singer/guitarist) Baxter's spikes-and-highlights look, which was always a fave of mine. :) Don't see too much of it in the music world, unfortunately, which is odd.

  • If this song doesn't make you want a get up and move your body and dance your not a living, breathing human being.

  • @TheWhatsinaname

This song only reached #24 in the U.S., but should've gone higher. Also, it's unfortunate their success couldn't be contained and the band had a short existence. Nevertheless, the 80s produced a bevy of one hit wonders who could've went on to a lot of great things with more label support.

  • @ultimatedrakex Chart position notwithstanding, I'm hard-pressed to find someone who does not remember this song from the '80s -- and IMO it still has "it" today. It's always been a fave of mine; the same goes for the entire LP. Agreed, they should have gotten more support and continued on for MANY more years, but hopefully the release of their CD box set will in some small way help make up for lost time. After that... who knows? I'm not the only one encouraging the guys for a... "Re-Union"! ;)

  • I wish music today would sound kind of like this.

  • @CartoonsAndGameShows There was an artistry to music in the 80s. Every singer and every band had something to say and a compelling way to say it. Nowadays, everyone's just chasing the latest trends and trying to copy the success of others; it's all fluff.

  • @GhostIntoTheFog Agreed with CartoonsAndGameShows' comment. An alarming trend I see today is "Fill in the Blank" featuring "Fill in another blank". No one seems to be able to stand alone, and if you want to sell your music, tag along with another artist, no matter how incongruent they may be. No offense, Katy Perry, but Snoop Dogg???

  • Oh, HELL yes. Thank you for posting.

  • I loved the 80's music.. New Wave, glam rock.. good times..

  • AWSOME 80's hit this one will have you in dance mode in no time

  • This reminds me me of dancing the night away at NYC's The Saint...thanks.

  • A decent feel good--party song from 83-84?

  • Paul Chuckle.

  • One of the great bands and songs of the 1980s.

  • @jtg1961 Your are right on. They are just as relevent today maybe even more....

lets dance with those crazy politics.

  • this song takes me waaay back. thanx the the post.

  • Sigh I miss the 80's, thank you for posting this classic!

  • Elconquistador69too: Thank you; it seems to have been rectified on the other Re-Flex pages as well. Cheers! :)
