Would it be appropriate to use this last 3m pad technique if finishing with a semi-gloss of matte finish? I prefer Matte generally, but obviously want the best possible results! Thanks a lot!
Maybe you can use a stripping pad? I dont like minwax, you should always do a final sanding with 220 before applying stain. Try cleaning your wood with mineral spirits before applying stain, (allow to dry first) Try general finishes to make your wooden projects look even better.

I always start with fine, then go to superfine if I want a gloss finish.
