Love how ppl talk shit but never even shoot a weapon let alone a .50 the mistake here is shooting a .50 at an iron target at 100 yds. Iron targets are only good for long range shooting so u can hear if u hit or missed, besides .50s were designed for equipment/vehicles not personel

it's the fact that he was shooting at a steel plate target (not a very safe target to shoot at)

and he was shooting at 100 yards

(a .50 cal is good for up to one mile! much more than 100 yards...)

It is common practice to shoot at steel targets.

Yeah. I'd expect that big 750 gr bullet to penetrate the steel plate, not bounce off of it. This was a one in a million event, not something that anyone would have reasonably expected. Shooting steel targets is very common -- in fact the .50 BMG round was *designed* to shoot vehicles.

he shot a 50. sniper at a target on a hill made of sand and rock. it richocaded of the hill at an angle. bounced of the ground about 5 feet away from him and then bounced of the floor and hitting his ear muffs. the sound was created by the spinning of the round.
