Sounds good I learned this in the 90s my grunge guitar is a right hand 76 Ibanez destroyer im a lefty so I flipped the guitar the head is curved so the e string is longer when you tune down it really has a slack string with a humbucker the sound is very depressing and borders on suicidle my friend use to come over when I played this song and say " F---- this song makes me want to kill myself"

accually, i think with a low tuning like this a humbucker would blur the sound. besides that they use tele's and strats. a high gain amp over a single coil pickup does wonders. unless you are james hetfield

I'm a big Metallica fan.... I have to agree. If you're palm muting like mad, a single coil through hi gain sounds like mash potatoes. But doing stuff like this, it's amazing how thick and thin, simultaneously, it can sound. A humbucker would be too muddy to hear the notes.

yeah, that's so true. I play in a metal band and use EMG pickup over a gibson les paul. they are killer for fast metal riffs, and a gibson P-90 pickup which is awesome for clean sections or spheric playing.

Kim uses both teles and his main go-to guitar, his Guild S-100, which has humbuckers. Chris uses both teles and his le paul, with humbuckers.

Seen them doing this live with Kim using his s-100 and chris using his Duo-Jet Gretsch, with humbuckers. I'm guessing they used humbuckers on the recording, they really aren't using too much gain. I own a tele and a humbucker Ravelle elite, and both sound great for this song. Regardless, this is a great cover, cgregz. Very nice.
