by the way.. having windows on your mac and running a pc game on it will give your extra fps and effects then if you were to use crossover games on mac osx.
thanks for these videos. I'm getting a mbp after i come back from vacation and am really happy at what I am going to have in store for me with these games in Boot Camp. THe new mbps are even better then the ones with the radeon x1600 graphics card so I can't wait!
just to give u heads up on vista, if ur planning on playing css on it lags incredibly to where the point u cant play, theres a program called VAL its vista anti lag its a google search, simple process thats stops the lag
if u got so many Halo soundtrack do u actually play the game? I hoope u make a vid of Halo 2 Vista when the demo comes out or if u buy it and if u have Vista which I think you have if this is the same vid or the half life 2 vid.:D
you gonna get a copy of Halo 2 Vista? Its out in some Circuit City stores in the U.S. I so wanna see how the Macbook Pro runs it. Aussies got it 1st like 2 weeks ago, but Microsoft is off track and taking its time on a release date. It should be out early June. Some websites say 2morrow but I dunno. I live in UK so I just hope it gets her soon :P
Hey one more question for you, how do you find your mag safe power thing? Does it seem durable, because a lot of people complain about that? Thx again for these awesome videos!
I haven't had a problem with it yet. It's been a life saver and the mag safe does what it's suppose to do. I can't tell you how many times I've almost tripped over the power cord with my MBP on top the coffee table. Luckily enough, the mag safe comes off loose before my MBP drops on the floor.
After playing CS on the book did you notice any extra fan noise or heat when not gaming? My old laptop never stayed quiet after the first few hours of gaming on it, and I've regretted it since... trying to avoid the same problem on my MBP... =P
CS: Source/HL2 is a pretty GPU/CPU intensive game and my MBP would start to get warm about 30 mins into gaming and subsequently the fans would turn on to keep the system cool. Not a major distraction in my opinion.
Well in terms of US Dollars, it was originally for $2,450USD. It came with a student discount and other discounts which lowered the price to about $2100.
I've been meaning to get a copy of DoD:S, when I do I'll make sure I make a vid. Oh, and at the end of the stress test it pretty much said that FPS averaged about 117FPS, this was with all effects on high with res at 1024x768.
1024x768 res with everything else turned up, I think -- I haven't really checked the settings out. I'd check but I'd have to reboot to XP which I'm too lazy to do right now.
2.) Sort of, you can tweak power management to run it cooler, but if you're doing something task intensive, your MBP will run hotter, but if all you're doing is listening to music and surfing the web then the MBP will run cooler.
i have bootcamp...but not windows on my mbp.... do i need windows to play...thankyou...and i wait for your answer...i was wonderin...have you tried virtuedesktops...
Great stuff! Insane FPS there! My MBP has been shipped. The wait is killing me but your videos are keeping me entertained in the meanwhile! I can't thank you enough :)

the thing is not to play games, the ting is to be able to play games. If I wanted to play only games, I wouldn't buy one of these, it's just a plus

i know, i just feel bad for people that spend the extra on a mac when you can run leopard just the same on a pc

I'd say thats pretty good considering, you know, a refresh rate above 60hz isnt really necessary.

I'm waiting on my new MacBook Pro Core 2 2.33GHz. Does the current bootcamp include the Windows Drivers for the Graphics card in this model?
Also, is there apparently some power management tweak that helps it run cooler while booted into Win XP?
yNeville 5 years ago
1.) Yes.
2.) Sort of, you can tweak power management to run it cooler, but if you're doing something task intensive, your MBP will run hotter, but if all you're doing is listening to music and surfing the web then the MBP will run cooler.

My MBP is 2.33GHz, 120GB 5400rpm, 2GB ram, Ati X1600 w/ 256MB vram. Without lag, I can get up to 60fps online.
