I live London and in rush hour sometime I need to wait 2 trains before being able to get on... London tube is really old and need serious modification
Years ago I got on an overloaded NYC Subway car and the doors couldn't close cause of me....... after a while some folks were telling me to get the hell off and wait for another train as the car couldn't go with me preventing the door from closing....... someone tried to push me off but I shoved back in and got in enough to let the door close.
ALL the IDIOTS posting that this is terrible the crowding! are IDIOTS who have never had to deal with a subway metro during rush hour: guess what IDIOTS metro trains in big cities throughout the world during rush hour are like this NORMALLY....... you IDIOTS who have never experienced it need to shut the fuck up cause you don't haven't the clue about the REALITY of a big city metro in the rush hour.
@Zadiel82 wrong. go to berlin and take the U-Bahn at the new years eve. You don't see this in germany simply because the population in germany is eight digites and in china it's 10 digites. actually the germany people are not used to this situation at all, so that some of them become very angry and start to push and kick others very impolitely, which chinese never do!
Shanghai metro is the longest system in the world, you fools! It is also the festest growing one. By the end of 2010, over 500km in total! Did you guys think it was just built for show? Hell no! It expends so much because there is the demend for it!
This is rush hour afterall, so I'm not really surprised by the crush load of people. Now if you want to see a station that's really crush loaded then you should check out Tokyo. I could only imagine how many people are forced into one cab.
u should try to get in the 2 or 5 and 6 train in the rush hour in new york city subway system... u will be lucky if the close wouldn"t take away a piece of you before it takes off... and the smell oh my god...
to be honest, this isnt that MUCH more crowded that the busy lines and rush hour times when you use the subway in NYC especially manhattan, I lived there my whole life up till a year ago and it was really crowded just like this
same in montreal .. gets this crowded on a regular basis during rush hour. i also remember being crammed in a 6 train on the lexington avenue line too, on week days, it gets crazy...
big difference is the cop pushing ppl in the trains. i'd like to see an MTA employee try to do THAT to a bunch of hurried new yorkers on a hot summer day when the stations are at a 140F ..!
Shanghai is a modern city, changing every week, English is most places in signage, and most of the younger generation speak English, especially the Shanghainese. :-)
Thaks for your information. I love to see things like subways that suggest modernity and technology. I live in Japan, and here is like this place. We have a bunch of people here from several places around the world. But anyway thanks.
just tell people surrounding you ...you are getting off ..they will make a way for you. AND, plan the move before the train reaches your stop. I do this everyday when I was in Beijing. The rush hour is difficult, but still fast and accurate than driving my own car.
I'd rather get on the train than be left out when I need to get somewhere on time just because some niggers and spics don't want to move in like in NYC.
I ABSOLUTELY agree. I´ve experienced peak hour metro travel around the globe, including London and Moscow, and more recently Santiago de Chile. A lot of people wanting to travel at the same time, what do you expect? Much of a muchness. You´re going to be a sardine in a tin can, whereever you go!
Great! This may look weird to other people, but for me that's nothing special... I got used to it. I've lived in Shanghai for 1 year and this happend to me every day!
I live in Shanghai and this is common, but it gets even worse at times. In the summer you can't imagine the sweat and smell with all these people soaked through their clothes. Fun stuff!

I have a question, 1- Those subway trains are made from European Technology? 2- The announces are made only in Chinese? And how about the signs?
MasterM15 2 years ago
1) Made by Alstom
2) Made in Chinese and English
Signs too....
Shanghai is a modern city, changing every week, English is most places in signage, and most of the younger generation speak English, especially the Shanghainese. :-)

1. Some licensed from SIEMENS-Bombardier, some from Alstom, manufactured by different rolling stock companies in China.
2. Both in Chinese and English for signs and announ

idiots should wait for the next one, and they should run more frequent trains - every 2 minutes.

because the next train will be as crowded as this one...

Well, I only can compare it wit London soo... there's definately a difference; for sure less chaotic and...rude, so to speak..
TE232 3 years ago
@TE232, hahah come on mate, London's population is half the size of Shanghai's.
Let's see how the Tube can cope with 18 million people. In any case, Chinese metros are much cleaner than the Tube in London.
