Don't get me wrong, I think Kimbra is fantastic, but there are aspects of the Sing Sing tracks that smack of multiple performances - there is occasionally bad lip synching and multiple close up shots pulling back to medium shots (where are the cameras?). Also there seems to be too much going on in the production, above and beyond the vocal loops: I can hear her providing backing vocals for one thing. Kimbra is simply amazing, but these performances aren't straight live takes, which is a shame.

Just trying to be optimistic about their definition of "live." Either way, I still LOVE Kimbra.

I hear the tiny vocal similarities to KP (in particular, the glottal attack & tone when she belts the high notes), but overall, Kimbra has a stronger instrument, w/more nuance, flexibility & control. Her music is more organic & sophisticated & she's more personally invested in the artistry. KP is a singer of pop songs made for mass consumption (some amazing ones!) but overall, I find this more artistic & soulful...for that reason it won't reach as MANY people - but the RIGHT people, yes!
