  • Great

  • awesome! Thanks for posting it!

  • Hammill looks like a bobblehead doll on steroids

  • "you are very lonely because all the other fish fear you-oo-oo-o-o-o-ou!" Love it to death! Post more ASAP

  • "On the black day of the black month in the black bottom of the sea..."

    Stunning!

  • spot on-pioneers are burning up my ears like a comet on speed-(VERY ROUGH SPEED AT THAT

    )!

  • By Thor!!!!

  • peter hammill remains one of the supreme song writers that ever wrote a chord...

  • ottimo sono dei mostri

  • I just saw them in Québec tonight (our summer festival)... Was very impressive. It must be seen live at least one time to fully feel this music. Persons of different ages were in the audience and most seems to really enjoy the show. With a hand on the chest, Peter Hammill just said in french after a ton of applause: ''What can be said''... and said nothing else...

  • I'm going to see them at the Montreal Jazz Festival.

  • just saw them in NYC; what an experience!

  • me encanta esta musica es increible, genial...

  • June 19, 20 & 21, 2009, Zoellner Arts Center, Bethlehem, PA LINE UP: Van der Graaf Generator (UK) PFM (Italy) Gong (UK) Steve Hillage Band (UK) Trettioåriga Kriget (Sweden) D.F.A. (Italy) Oblivion Sun (United States) Beardfish (Sweden) Quantum Fantay (Belgium) Cabezas de Cera (Mexico)
  • Favorite album? I'd say it's a Godbluff/Still Life toss-up. Those two albums are completely logical counterparts

  • still stunning...absolutely.

  • VDGG will play at nearfest 2009 in PA.....I'LL BE THERE..!!!!!

  • What are the dates of Nearfest? WHo else is on the line-up?

  • Actually just checked it out: Gong and Steve Hillage Band, et al. Good stuff.

  • Amazing band!

  • Hmm this is like a cross between Genesis and King Crimson, I never saw them in the old days unfortunately

  • Actually, Robert Fripp from King Crimson plays guitar on a few VDGG recordings. So there is real similarity.

  • Anybody hear see where Bowie got the main frame of Station To Station from?

The changes and the basic rifff. Maybe it's just me then?!

I was at this gig - t'was amazing when they went into it and with Hammill going walkies round the back... amazing sound coming out of three players!

  • Completely see it. Even Bowie acknowledges Peter Hammill is his hero.

  • Excellent work!

  • Not the past Not the revolution Just the plea and the Fact that PH's hair looks better

  • Polish VDGG Site: vdgg art pl

  • these guys must be classicaly trained

  • these guys can rock

  • Its a great shame that Jaxon is no longer part of the band. However if you buy Real time it is clear that his playing was often not quite 100%. Saying this he was still pretty darn good on many if not all of the tracks.

  • Great song, great performance. Last year i've seen VDGG in concert in Bydgoszcz, Poland. That was marvelous show of music maestry.

  • WOW!!!!!

  • Thanks for the upload, excellent!

  • So amazing! Peter Hammill is God! Best singer and songwriter ever. And VdGG is the best band ever.

  • you are right!vdgg its inmediatly under pink floy i think...

  • Not in my book. What I think is that PF fits more into the mainstream of music (nothing wrong with that) and VDGG is a much more of a raw deal you get. It is unfinished music in the sense that you need to be an active listener, you need to do something with the songs, give them your own shape.

I do like PF but for different reasons than VDGG. I rate them higher but that's personal taste.

  • Bad quality, great song.

  • Gouveia Art Rock, em 2006, Peter Hamill, camisa branca, tal como neste vídeo...2008, Van der Graaf Generator...as coisas boas, são eternas!

  • eat your heart out, sting, phil collins, robert plant, this man can still sing.

  • I'm quite sure, that no one can see David Jackson anymore, because :

    1) He WAS VdGG !!!!!

    2) This slim Guy cannot have been survived since 1969 !!!!

  • Sounds grrrrrreat!

  • Hammill & co at their best!!

  • is that david jackson?

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that voice- timeless

  • erano tempi magici,jethro tull genesis,pink floyd,led zeppelin,deer purple,che musica!

  • e poi pfm, king crimson, yes...

  • X mirobaldo. Per fortuna, sono cresciuto musicalmente con questi signori, e con quelli da te citati. Grande musica! :-)

  • ...Magnifici...VIVA I V.D.G.G.!!!

  • Amazing song from H To He who am the Only One - a brilliant Cd - I watched this while playing the Cd version - works well with the track. Love this band - unfriendly music but compelling if you let it become you

  • did I already mention that I was at this show?

  • And apparently, you are still watching this... as am I, it would seem! ;-)

  • ottimo antico ed attuale .Una forza

  • Was reading a book on singing and the interviewer asked Bruce Dickinson what groups he was into growing up....Van Der Graaf Generator was one of them!!!!!

  • I forgot how good this song was.

  • la raja peter hamill canta igual..... aguante van der graff....... de chile presente el rock progresivo

  • Its a shame that Jaxon is now gone and seemingly for good but the VDGG trio is still utterly awesome check out the free concert footage at Fabchannel...

  • Is Hugh Banton playing here?

  • Yes, he is.

  • yes

  • he's like hidden diamond, when you discover him, you can't leave him..

  • hidden in a sulpHur mine?

  • If you should see the skeletons of sailing ships far sinking low, you begin to wonder if the myths of all the ancient prophets are solemnly directed straight at you

  • Now that was Awesome! I wish I was there to hear and see this!

  • Ow shit!!!

They are still playing and singing perfectly!!!

  • Best rock

  • r u still gonna post it?

  • I can, but lemmings is:

    A) longer than the allowed 10 minutes, IIRC

    B) not as good as killer/undercover/darkness due to lack of footage sources from that part of the show.

    It's still very nice though

  • Where is Lemmings?

  • Somewhere safe :)

  • cant believe this is almost 40 yrs old - still getting goosebumps

  • a truly unique band. Does anyone have a video of them performing Lemmings? That would be neat to see.

  • I'll post Lemmings from this show next week

  • I remember Hammill obsessively walking around at the back during the instrumental passage, and timing his cue to sing perfectly- all great stuff.

They're supposed to be releasing their own DVD of it sometime.

  • They have CONSIDERED releasing a DVD of the performance at Leverkusen, Germany, but it seems to have gone off of the agenda lately.

I'm somewhat glad about it - the Leverkusen was a rather weak show of theirs, in my opinion.

  • I remember in Milan in 2005 the audience that sing the whole song. Absolutely fantastic!

  • I'm too young to see VDGG in the seventies but they are one of my favourite band ever. Finally I'seen them in Milan and in Gardone in 2005... Stunning!!!

  • I was at that gig. Best concert I ever attended. And I will definitely buy the double live CD, which will contain the whole concert and will be out on March 5th 2007. The name of the album will be "Real Time". The tracklist of the concert was 1. The Undercover Man 2. Scorched Earth 3. Refugees 4. Every Bloody Emperor 5. Lemmings 6. (In the) Black Room 7. Nutter Alert 8. Darkness (11/11) 9. Masks 10. Childlike Faith in Childhood's End 11. The Sleepwalkers 12. Man-Erg 13. Killer 14. Wondering
  • Great theme!!. Thanks a lot for this moment precious.

  • ASTONISGING!Many thanks to the poster, I truly appreciate this vid! I actually met with Peter Hammill somewhere in 1973 in Quebec City, Canada at le cegep de Limoilou. I think that was his In Camera Tour.

  • Unfortunately missed this one. What a shame!!!Does anybody has a clue how to get the whole concert on DVD?Never saw it in any shops in England!

  • I saw them in Glasgow. The best gig I've been to in years.

  • I was there too.. needed a piss all the way through but couldn't leave my seat for a moment..

  • I was there. Sweet! This is the 1st video I've seen of it although I know there's a lot out there. have

  • excellent!

van der graaf is the best prog rock band ever!
