Marissa and Mark Kozelek should make a baby, I could imagine how awesome the music that child could make. I wonder if she actually likes black metal considering she plays on the last Xasthur album? I think that's fairly krieg of her !
@Jayakiran1 lol. so one critical component to the rise of rock through the generations is a complete failure? i highly HIGHLY disagree. tell that to jimi hendrix...
@tamtamtam191 Thank u. Ur comment made me think. People are so quick to fawn over beauty without questioning why...a friend of mine once said, "Can the world change without changing the beauty of women?"
this version of Diamond Heart has powerful emotions woven thru as the first version I heard did...Marissa is a gift to the art of music and creates a new world within seconds of the first chords...
Guess I don't understand the people equating her music with blissful summertime innocence, or who are down on the reverb. Listen to the lyrics, and revel in the reverb.
The folk scene is missing integrity and pure humble spirit. I had more of a listen to this persons music and did find some of it very beautiful. Still something is lacking. Its just my opinion nothing more.
Hearing her msic brings me memories of old times....summertime, concerts in the fields, beside the beach.....where nothing really mattered but everything was so important....and so new....smelling the sun.
i love the comment below ... "i think over mermaids (possibly)" ... possibly? whats possible about mermaids? is the jury still out on mermaids? ... idiot.

you got me dead bang. thanks for reminding me of how truly unworthy i am good sir. i know have come to terms with several truths: 1. I am not very smart, nor funny; 2. Mermaids do exist, and they have lovely voices.

I'm surprised of how much I like her on my first listen . .
I first looked her up because my other favorite artist (Xasthur) worked with her on an album . .
She has so much spirit; it's mesmerizing

@tamtamtam191 she's terrible; she tries to do that joan baez-vibrato but her voice is boring and weak, so she has to rely on effects

unfortunately its just another girl with a guitar a little voice and a black dress.
The folk scene is getting a bit tedious.
jun7per 3 years ago
damn a little harsh no? why don't you pick up a guitar and give us all a sense of what "the folk scene" is missing.
