That fish was obviously strong enough to survive long enough to get that big. Don't kill it! Leave it so it can produce more bass that will hopefully grow to be the same size and maybe even bigger! Kudos to you for letting him go! Fishing like a true sportsman, my friend! Well done!

Releasing the fish was the best possible notion he could have gone with. Now instead of bieng a fool and killing the fish he will share the joy and thrill with the next person. The fish will grow bigger and produce more fish dying at the lake the way it should. Video/reproductions of the fish are as good as having the real thing. Now the next person will have a better chance at catching this rare beast.
