I love how Riker looks at Worf like he's crazy and incredulously asks, "Devour vessels?" when you would think surely he must know about Kirk's encounter with the Doomsday Machine, which not only devoured starships, but entire PLANETS... And indeed, the DM wasn't the only think in TOS (and elsewhere in Trek) that "ate" entire starships... I suppose people of commander rank must not be privvy to the thing that ate the USS Intrepid from "The Immunity Syndrome" either...
