Your bike sounds exactly like mine, i ordered a new carb, but it sounds more like a need a valve adjustment. My 150cc baccio runner has the same gy6 motor and it wont start cold unless i kick it for a while and then use the electric start with a kick. Once its started it wont idle, but it does start easily once its warm. soooo long story short, valve adjustment right?
Was having trouble with gy6 150cc scooter. It would start missing at higher rpms. Went on the internet to trouble shoot the problem. Found, out of adjustment valve likely the problem.
Went to Youtube and found your video. Watched your video twice. I found and adjusted, a closed exhaust valve, (intake was ok) put it all back together and WHAM, scooter is running like a rocket. It also seemed to fix a fluxuating tachometer problem.

Tried setting mine at .004", and then at .003" like other recommend and they clattered like they were going to fly off the engine! Thank God for your video! It's the only place online I can find the has the correct settings for a 150cc.
I have a problem with my GY6 maybe you can help me diagnose it. It starts fine when cold and runs strong, after about 5 minutes of running, I will be cruising down the road and the engine loses all power and slowly glides to a stop. The engine then can't be started for 1hr+ until it cools down. Please answer!!!
@pashastookie From what you've said, it seems very likely that it's a overheating problem. "Why" it's overheating is the mystery. I assume it's air cooled. Look for leaves or other stuff in the air cooling fan area. Good luck.
scooter qlink axon 50 cc what i discovered is after jumping it off. with battery charger and kicking it. it will crank. I rode it only complaint is Hard to start, hard to keep idling, and if i accelerate to fast it misses or bogs but if I rev it slowly it will pick up and move.
has new carburetor, which did not help. I will update on valve adjustment. after i do it. I think that's the problem. when i rev to fast i hear a noise like echo in breather box, which means valves usually.
i have a 49cc garelli tiesse 1p39 qmb, 2000 kms.i adjust it in 0.5mm gap but there's a rattling metal sound after. then i adjust it to 0.3mm. and there's still that sound. help plss..
my gy6 just failed! No more than 1100 miles on it! The cam bearing failed and the inner ring of the bearing somhow made its way inside the combustion chamber and wegded itself between the head and piston! Nicked the hell out of the head and piston but left the bore untouched! Tell me how the hell that happened? Cause I am at a loss of words!
Excellent! You saved my scooters life. I did the adjustment and one crank of the engine and it sprang back to life. Here is some background on my problems: Since, mile 1 the scooter progressively got worse for morning cold starts to the point where I could no longer start it with draining the battery completely. My only hope at mile 1300 was to park it in the hot sun with a full battery. Had no clearance on either valve. I set them both to 0.05 mm and it works perfectly.
Yeah you need it. LOL, go down to the auto parts store and buy them---they aren't that much. Make sure you get a set of feeler gauges that you need---it will say on the package the measurements.
this worked great for my problem as well.. had the same issue, wouldn't start and bought a new carb thinking that was the issue. the adjustment fixed my compression issue perfectly and it starts every time now.. thanks so much for doing this.. it was fun to do as well!
Chinese engines are prone to closing their valve clearances for the first few 1000's km. The tendency should be for them to open up with mileage. This is due to "valve seat recession", where the alloy in the head, being a bit soft, lets the valve seat sink in closing the valve clearance.
If this is left unchecked, first the cold starting and idle suffers, then performance drops and soon the valve seats and/or burn out. This is what kills lots of Chinese bike engines.
Great explanation. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why people were saying the clearance would tighten up. Didn't make sense. To the author, most specs call for .08-.12 mm which is an average of about .004 inches. I will say though on my buggy, I set originally to .004 and it was kinda noisy. For the heck of it I tightened it up to .003 and it was a night and day difference. I have a brand new buggy that is a bit more noisy but now I think I'll leave it alone till it has some time on it.
brutusfish---I set my valves just by taking my seat out(2 nuts and a bolt). If you can get the valve head cover off, you should have no problem getting the feeler gauges in----without ripping everything apart. The first time I did it, I took some of the body pieces off, as well as my seat---only to find out I didn't need to.
Hi my scooter was working then i changed my piston and piston rings and then put every thing and after this its wont start.could you help me please.its 125 gy6 its looks exacly same like yours
you need to change your oil it is getting little bit dark lol

Does anyone KNOW where the MODEL number (NOT serial number) is on my 150cc GY6 scooter engine? I need a precise, accurate description. Thank you.

"really, super tight"? should there be some torque specs?

usually this happens because of low engine oil.

Just make sure the engine has been cold for a couple of hours before you do it.
