  • Lovely test, great ride.

  • Whatdoes RH stand for?

  • IW.....ein Tabu thema für mich.....

  • i think that Anky is a bit better in the 07 world final, but they are both very gd!!!

  • anky didnt participate in las vegas -07 she was having a baby

  • sorry I mean Weg06. Her freestyle in there were amazing gd!!!!!!

  • nein, bei der wm in aachen ist sie sachmo geritten... sie wollt eigentlich warumnicht reiten, aber der war verletzt glaub ich... sie ist echt soooooooo super und warumnicht ist so ein tolles pferd

    just wonderful... great horse

  • war das bei der Wm in aachen??

die reitet sooooooooo gut! voll hamer. auch die pferde von ihr. ein traum :D

  • the transitions are just perfect, she is a wonderfull rider, and the horse is very powerfull with really good gaits.thanks for sharing this video

  • why do i not see any big argument here about hyperflexion?? she uses just like anky does... sad really that people target anky and anky only!

  • Isabell Werth hab ich mit warum nicht frh schon live gesehen so geil !!!

  • I was just watching this again, and god. She must have the most responsive hands and arms on the planet. The bit's connected to her elbows! Looks like he was a bit of a hard horse to put together, FWIW -- long and rangy.

  • I'm a bit confused. What is FWIW and how's the bit connected to her elbows? I'm just trying to learn as much about dressage as poss.

  • LJ16BB91 - i dont understand what cwildeky is saying either. Im a bit confused there. All i can say is the isabell is great, and so is the horse. Anyone who has the guts to critisize this should go and get a life :)

  • cwildeky - i dont understand?

  • would was meant to be wouldnt

  • Msmotty- but it thort clasical horses were those ones that are hairy feeted and the peoples wear witches hats! HAHA

  • (Then again, I'm also the queen of the "your horse looks so happy!" test comment, but that hasn't exactly earned me rooms full of blue ribbons, alas.) ;-)

  • I dont necessarily care if they dont aim for perfection, as long as they arent causing physical or mental pain to the horse in the process, but I do think there is something wrong with the judging system if someone with flashier gaits can win over someone who is truly correct in their training.

  • I think you've just raised the "classic" problem! 'Cos I really don't think it's a new one ... just look at equine breeding history ; we're always trying to engineer results. To me, "action" and "movement" are really two different things (tho' not mutually exclusive), but I think people have always tended to blur the two. :-) Just rambling, sorry ... I'm a Sylvia Loch fan, so I'm about channeling movement as opposed to engineering it, meself.

  • Yes, I like Sylvia. Only read her book on the Classical Seat, but I've also read some stuff online of hers and always wanted a clinic/lesson.

  • Eventer13 - what is with you and "classical bullshit! your an event rider, just stay to event dressage as that is a sport of its own!

  • Jackko, jackko, dear jackko. You are making me laugh. Do you not know how similar the riding is for all the disciplines? Good riding is good riding, always will be. Please see comment on Klimke. I thought you said you also did jumpers. Why are you doing both dressage and jumpers then?

  • I do, do jumping, got a problem with that?

  • Seems a bit hypocritical of you to say that I don't know what I'm talking about b/c I event.

  • Jaccko, I'm really starting to question both your riding abilities and your instruction. Even the top riders who do rolkur dont actively attack it. Which leads me to the conclusion that you 1) aren't good enough to ride that way yourself or 2) you dont have the patience.

  • no no no, 1) if you want some pictures of my riding im happy to give you them if you have a emial 2) I dont practise rollkur, I'm just defending it because its a great method and i dont feel as though i need to use it. But thanks for your concern

  • You seem to think there is something inherently wrong with riding classically. Please, name something thats wrong with training that way. It has absolutely no drawbacks, except for the fact that it takes more time. Although seeing that the SRS can produce a horse in 4-6 years, its not THAT much more.

  • I have no problemm with classical dressage, i actually enjoy watching it alot, but you seem to think that classical should be the only and every way

  • Actually, I have ridden my horse slightly BTV, to get her to give that little bit of submission that she needs. She naturally wants to go above the bit, I think mainly due to her conformation, so going slightly in the opposite direction helps her realize that she needs give to the bit when I ask. I dont do this every ride, and when I do its for 2-3 min max.

  • Oh so now the truth comes out? I see nothing wrong with what you are doing, taking her behind the vertical for a few minutes to show her she needs to come round and soft. This is how rollkur started, bonfire always went above the bit in warmup and so anky started riding BTV in warmup. its a warmup excersize and thats all. What is with you and "conformation" conformation has alot to do with it but that doesnt affect too much.

  • Conformation is the reason why my horse will never be a four-star horse, or why my friend's dressage horse will never go GP, etc. Conformation determines movement, and jumping ability. So, yes, it plays a HUGE role in what a horse is/isn't able to do and how well they can do it.

  • Explain what is wrong with your horses conformation so i can atleast understand why he wont be a 4* eventer.

  • But rollkur, IMO, is too extreme. What I do (i.e. going slightly BTV) is NOT classical, and I'll admit to that. But I also dont think it has any detrimental effects to my horse physically. And I do feel like rollkur does. I'm not against rk because its "not classical" Im against it because I think it does harm the horse.

  • Thats good that you admit that, but your not their on a daily basis to see anky ride. I have a DVD of hers and it shows that she changed her method all the time, she will go from long and low, to BTV, to competition frame, and changing this every so minutes so the horse learns to stretch the neck anywhere.

  • Horses do not want to be staring at their chest, it makes them feel trapped. I think rk also places too much stress on the nuchal ligament. HYPERFLEXION of any joint is bad, you can find that in human medical journals. But if rollkur were used for 5 sec at a time, 2-3x/ride, then I wouldnt give it another thought. Just like, say, using a whip. When used in moderation, the whip can be a tool. When overused, its abuse.

  • I agree with you, if i were to do hyperflexion (not doing it yet because i dont feel the need too) i would only do it for 5 or ten minutes, varying from a long frame to a short frame, and then continue my normal training, I know you think anky rides in it far to extreme but she is different for every horse

  • You can call me jack you know. you must be stupid to realize my name is jack.

  • Eventer13 - this is where you are completly wrong! DRESSAGE IS NOT ALL ABOUT BEING "CORRECT" THE HORSE HAS TO HAVE FLASH MOVEMENT AND DO A FLAWLESS PERFORMANCE. your such a wanka

  • Jackko, you are making yourself out to be ignorant and, for someone who likes to talk about having a "good discussion," you're peeing all over this one.

  • I do like to have discussion but you my friend keep going around in circles, the convo we had on anky and juniour was very similar. you anky haters just have too many problems to over come

  • Then ignore us. Of course it keeps going in circles, you're not going to change my mind, I'm not going to change yours.

  • When I look at the Spanish Riding School, which I consider to be as classical as you can get, you see true collection, and they are always adament that the horses be on or in front of the vertical. But most "modern dressage" riders don't mind compromising on those things, because they want quick results or cant do the riding.

  • Eventer - OH PLEASE! give yourself a break and do us a favour! If the spanish horses were so good then why the hell are they not out winning the WEG E.C.T

  • By Spanish I assume you mean the Lipizzaner's? Well, they have breeding and performance duties, they dont have time to go cruising around the continent. Also, its questionable how they would do, because those of spanish origins generally dont have the conformation for the really nice extended gaits.

  • exactly, which means the spanish horses are for shows and rearing up and shit, not for good modern dressage

  • that was ment to be "not realize"

  • "Rearing up"? Do you know what you're talking about? And do you realize that the airs are just the very final step, after years of correct dressage work, that gets them there?

  • Yes, i do no what i am talking about thank-you very muchly, all those spanish horses do is extremly collected work, including rearing up and shit like that, yes, any horse can do GP as it is all natural movements, but you are just of your head if you have a problem with the top dressage riders these days. Maybe the anger you hold just cant be keept in anymore because you can't be as good as anky or even as good as the best eventers. sad?

  • My anger? Why do you think I'm angry. I have no plans to go to the Olympics, no desire to become a pro. Has nothing to do with what I want. I ride purely for fun. That's one reason I would never want to do it as much as the pros: I think I would get burnt out or lose what I love about riding. No, I'm not sad. My goals in life are not connected to my riding.

  • When your a pro it means you still love what you are doing, yes myself i would love to compete at the WEG and have a name for myself like anky and isabell do. But i still love riding, im sure anky loves riding too, she would do it just for the pure sake of money

  • I would love to see a SRS Lip in modern dressage competition, because I think for the collected gaits, piaffe, passage, and pirouette they would put the warmbloods to shame. Simply because they have excellent training and conformation that favors these mvmnts. Just like they wouldnt score as well in the extended mvmnts because they are conformationally not bred for them like the WBs are. Just b/c they arent shown in modern competition doesnt mean they CANT do a GP test and do it WELL.

  • MsMotty, I have to disgree that the end product is the same. You see so many horses breaking at the 3rd vertebra instead of the poll, and tons and tons going behind the vertical. Also a lot of false collection, with no tucking under of the hindquarters.

  • Eventer13 - i happen to disagree with you - Not many horse these days have there head held at the poll, broken at the third is how the fashion is now. GET WITH IT! DUH!

  • And I find it very sad that people actually believe "Classical riding is going out the door." If thats the case, why dont we just screw it all and let anyone who wants to use rollkur during their tests? Better yet, lets start riding dressage horses like flashy gaited horses. Saddlebred, anyone? (NB: I dont have anything against the saddlebred, but most of the gaited ones aren't ridden like a classical dressage horse)

  • Classical riding is going out the door - there is no competition for classical dressage - the modern dressage is so much nicer to watch. Rollkur isnt used during tests and actually its called riding deep. what do you mean by gaited ones?

  • Gaited horses are bred for really high-stepping action. Saddlebreds, Tennessee Walker, Fox Trotters, etc.

As for rollkur vs riding deep, "rollkur" is considered to be the extreme form of riding deep. Riding deep is getting the horse to go slightly behind the vertical, and usually isn't done for a prolonged period. Rollkur is nose close to the chest, all gaits (including extended ones) for a long time.

  • As far as what "looks better": this is where people go wrong, its not always the best way to do things. For example, a piaffe where the horse is WAY on his forehand, but with good bend in his hindleg joints and on the spot compared to a piaffe with the horse coming really under himself, not so much bendm and maybe travelling slightly forward. The second one is correct and MORE BENEFICIAL to the horse's training and long-term soundness. Which is what dressage is all about.

  • Eventer13 - what would you know about piaffe, your a stupid event rider for god sake!

  • My goodness, untwist your panties Jaccko. Just because I event doesnt mean I have no clue about other riding disciplines. Yeesh. You know Klimke-who IMO had much more success than anyone else out there today-also came from an *eventing* background. And his eventing daughter currently also competes GP dressage?

  • The horse is happy, relaxed and an outstanding example of self-carriage through the back and up the neck. Where the crest breaks is immaterial when a horse is that obviously moving his energy straight from his rump to his ears. If only we could all ride our horses like this.

  • cwildeky - i agree

  • Msmotty - agree, i personly think the horses look better when they have there neck broken at the third.

  • yea u are right - stuning horse and isabell has done an amazing job! i dont see many of these people with all the medals she has!

  • are you talking to me??? i want to be as good as her, i just wrote a nice comment. you shut up!

  • whata fuck would I be talking to you ? im not retarded, you wrote "shes my idol" so were did you get that from??!! but other people alwas must critizize, it was for them stupid

  • shes my idol!

  • I think its time for youtube to take away the possibility for us to comment, cuz its getting way to ugly, Som e people think they know way too much, and some even belive that they are jesus and should spread their own belifs about how to ride or how not to ride, Then there are those who just wants to critizise about everything. For god sake there is NOTHING wrong with hannes, this test shows one thing: Harmony. Shut up.

  • Minga90ame - agree with you all the way. This horse is awesome and i don;t understand how people can say crap about the best riders in the world.

  • his nose is behind the verticle, he's broken at the third, he has a broomstick tail, at the trot his front end is constantly out of sync with his hind end, not to mention his curb is parallel to the ground and the spit is flying off his mouth.

    utterly disgusting.

but really, who cares if someone bends a good lot of FEI rules (head behind the verticle, unexsistant backend, poll not the highest point of the neck), as long as the horse looks pretty!

  • twoandtwoisfive - you obviously no nothing about dressage. This horse was or still is classed and number 1 dressage horse in the world. If the horses neck went high than it is here it would look bad. It is in perfect position. And the horse is aloud to be just above the bit, on the bit or just behind the bit. the judges dont care either way! you really are stupid. You think 2 and 2 is 5? ohh burn!! silly bitch

  • lawl

    i laugh

    get over yourself =)

  • me get over myself? yo just can't handle the fact that im correct!

    correct?

  • like seriously i meen you think this horse is wrong? it is technically correct. And anyway its not like you know anything in this world because your user name says 2 and 2 is 5 when clearly 2 and 2 is 4. fuck wit

  • Regardless of what you think "looks better," it is classically correct to have the horse broken at the poll, not the 3rd vertebra. And yes, there are many, many GP dressage horses broken at the 3rd. DOES NOT mean its correct or that its what we should all strive for.

  • Eventer13 - maybe thats the correct way in classical dressage - but classical dressage is on its way out the door. If you have a look at a horse with its poll at the highest point - its neck ends up being really high and jamed up. and that makes the horse hollow.

  • Please, please, go watch the Spanish Riding School. Those horses always have the poll as the highest point, and yet they still manage to lift their back (and their thoroughness is sooooo much better than 99% of the GP dressage horses out there). If a horse cant do both at once, perhaps 1) the training sucks 2) the rider doesn't know how to do it 3) the horse isn't built for it.

  • no, i do not want to watch the spanish horses.. they are good but they are not like the modern dressage today.

  • not everything is correct...her knees seem to be sort of wobbling a lot...but i'm still impressed that she can sit his trot at all. he seems to have a lot of back movement. such a typical kraut-horse. LOL ;)

  • I love the extended trot

  • I have a confession; I didn't like warum nicht in the beginning but at this competition he really shows why he is the number 1 horse in the world.

  • Hey there, I didnt like this horse to start of with either but he has grown on me and hes a very very nice horse! ( is he number 1 horse in the world? ) who decided that?

  • he did won the world cup finals in las vegas this year (2007)so I guess that makes him the best:) But anky is coming back after giving birth and she will retake her no. 1 position soon :D

  • ohh ok, so much time did anky take of to have her baby?

  • hmm I dont know really, all I know is that she wanted to make it as short as possible to mange to come back to CHIDO aachen (3-8 july 2007)so I guess she was away as short as possible for having a baby. The hole thing went well, she had a girl; eva Aden.

  • Yer, i new she had a baby but didnt really know anything about it

  • let's see.her horse is not as beautiful.hehehe.

  • not me.the number 1 horse is MINE.:)

As for the haute dressage it's Matinée(in my opinion)

  • what are you talking about?

    Making no sense!

  • subjective

  • What does that mean?

lol now your getting me really confused.

I know what subjective means but putting it into a sentence would help :D
