Shit, i never knew why those i7 were so fast and powerful but now i know. No wonder AMD hid behind the GPU market after they say this beast of processors ride in like burley men on bikes! wow.
Goto save up like mad, get rid of my AMD CPU and get a new Mobo and that damm beast i7980x
Cheers for that info. I didn't know much about threading back when i posted that comment but i know more now, i though the threads acted as booster cores as a way to put them, but they basically just share the workload making the process faster, and as you say not everything is optimised to use it.
I'm sure as time passes on more games, softwear etc will be used with Threading in mine, such as new game Shogun 2 is, but my current AMD pulls well taking power to price ratio :D
nothing wrong with AMD, yeah they are a bit slower but they are cheaper and for games, the difference is minimal if any
i just wanted something high end when i got my computer so the i7 was the way to go, never let me down! fast and runs rather cool even at 4ghz (not the stock cooler ofc xD)
only game that i know works best on quad core or higher is bad company 2, it hates dual cores but loves quad or higher. hope AMD's Bulldozer can compete with Sandy Bridge
@needakiller Yeah as you said, AMD are cheap and cheerful.
But i agree about the Bulldozer, they are claiming they are 1.5x faster, a good start if you ask me, now if they can keep the price happy thten i'll get one with a new Mobo.
Just orderd myself one of those ASUS GTX 580 DirectCU II, normally about £400 but i got it for £260 :D amazing savings, i just hope i have two 8pin connectors. But hopefully Bulldozer wont cost as much as that i7980, sheesh, £700- £800... :o
@DeanGetYourWings yeah they say bulldozer will be really fast, and add a few other cores and a program that can use so many cores and it will be epic.
i need a new graphic card xD cuz a i7 920 mixxed with two 4890's aint optimal xD (runs better then you think thu, only 3-4 games i cant play on highest settings in 1080p, and those are the crysis games and metro 2033)
if you dont have two 8 pin connectors you can always give it to me :D
@needakiller Tbh the 4890's setup is still strong. I only have a HD5770, budget card but i always planned on buying a top of the line card a year after i got my new pc. That HD5770 has played everything maxed out but can't run at 1080p atm only 1360 x 768 its only HD ready so only 1080i whitch is somwhat knaff when gaming on, im going be upgrading to a 1080p 40" plasma or LCD around august time :D
Haha almost got me :P if no 8pin i'll just have to upgrade to a PSU that has two 8pins
@DeanGetYourWings yeah two 4890's is suprisingly good, but you know not good enough xD and they suck power like shiiiiiit (not that i really care but still xD)
dont get a plasma screen, LCD or LED, LED's are nice, got one myself (only 21.5" thu, but it was cheap so)
well i have a PSU that got 2, or i think it got 4 actelly so i can take it :D
@needakiller Nothing ever good enough and everything is always outdated by the end of the week haha.
I was told Plasmas where better form gaming as they have better refresh rates and better black, overall better HD but they come with the 'Burn' risk. But id agree im more torn towards a LCD LED but i've heard LED's are not as good looking as LCDs, takes ages to get a good answer an review for a affordable Tv
@DeanGetYourWings LED is better then LCD, the difference is basicly the color, and LED get better color then LCD, other then that it dont matter much (think LED uses less power too but who cares)
Plasma is well okay, but its not as good as a decent LED screen. for gaming you dont really want a TV thu, cuz they are slower then computer screens and ushally have alot worse colors.
ofc plasma dont suffer much burn in's these days but i wouldnt use them either way xD
@needakiller Yeah id get a computer screen but my Tv is my 'hub' i guess. Got everything pluged into it like Sky, PC, consoles and other stuff so i kinda need it to be a Tv haha. So you think i should look for a LED tv, and if i cant find a good LED tv find a good LCD? And yeah LED use less power, thats why i though they where not as good as someone said it uses les power meaning its got terrible picture guess he was lieing.
@DeanGetYourWings well ofc, a friend of mine they got a 46" LED HD tv and it is compleatly EPIC, watching a HD movie or blu-ray movie on it is compeatly awsome.
ofc there are good tv's too for games, just that in general moste of them arnt xD
i got one 21.5" LED screen and one 22" LCD screen, the LED got alot better color and everything looks sharp on it, while the LCD screen feels like i got a layer of blurr on it xD
I've got:
Dell GX280, Pentium 4, 2.79 Ghz
Hyper Threading
0.99 GB Ram, 40 Gb SATA HDD
Intel 910 GVL Graphics Card, Windows Xp installed, Thumbs Up if its a good pc

@DeanGetYourWings dont be fooled by it
very very very few things can use so many threads (i myself got a lovly i7 920 which i love <3)
for games, hyper threading can actelly lower the preformace sometimes and ushally dont help at all.
in programs that can use 8 threads or more it is epic yes, but so few can use it which is why its not as fast as it could be in moste programs.
ofc it is still faster then amd, amd are cheap thu, intel is quality :D
