Your monitor most likely can support an HD resolution. Monitors for the last decade have been capable of 720P.

I would not suggest running a game beyond native resolution. It will blur the picture, use more processing power, and your monitor can only display up to your native resolution.

HD Fury has a small transcoder that gets the signal of hdmi and convert it to RGB for use with VGA

i stands for interlaced if you can not get a good picture of what that would look like i will give u something to imagine here: weaving a basket with dried grass or tree bark but it was not re enforced and i causes horizontal tearing. P stands for progressive whitch in this case is the basket re enforced with more weaving. Its hard to explain. here is tech version progressive for example a pc screen constantly refreshing increased refresh rate= better quality viewing and no tearing.

it means that hdcp is required for any digital connection on the ps3. movies i can understand, its an anti piracy measure, but for games as well?

no you realy dont, unless it only had a vga connection, but if you buy a brand new monitor with dvi-d(with hdcp) then your alright, hdcp is what enables you to play or what video bandwith in hd, or something like that just in easier word, but you will ne an hdmi(buy the $100 one) and hdmi female to dvi MAle make sure its the right one for the connection, and this will be better than an hd tv.

Guys! I found something! I discovered that every television pixel has 3 more pixels in it called micropixels. So the true resolution will be shown below. 480p/480i=1440p/1440i. 576p/576i=1728p/1728i.
