I agree with you. I think that because government officials are only human, that it the idea is sort of inherently flawed. I can sit back and pretend that it will all even out eventually but I can't begin to even fathom the types of information that my government keeps from me. I often wonder if we would be better off if we knew everything the government knows - most of the time I don't think that we would.

This would be a pure fantasy world in Italy.
Last month, the Italian parliament has passed a law that makes it illegal to eavesdrop/wiretap virtually anyone for normal and financial crimes.
Just the same type of crimes the current prime minister (Silvio Berlusconi) was on trial for. Seven times so far, and all dismissed because of statute of limitation or because he changed the law to make his crimes not a crime (i.e. cooking the books)
