Clearly the wrong thing to do for the children. There is a small detail, aside from this, which sticks out like a sore thumb. This is one of the worst things that can happen to a child. But thank God he was 14 and not younger. At age 2, my brother died. I was sent to live in the city w/my grandmother--she thought it was the best thing, and my mother believed her. This is one of the worst things that can happen to a child. But thank God he was 14 and not younger. At age 2, my brother died. I was sent to live in the city w/my grandmother--she thought it was the best thing, and my mother believed her. Today, I don't trust anybody and always fear that I will be abandoned--even if I just go to a crowded place w/my boyfriend. I worry I will be lost in the crowd and separated.

These people deserve a formal apology from the French government, as well as compensation. Almost every developed country has a black mark on their history, and it is up to the governments of those countries to acknowledge their wrong-doings, and to try and make ammends. These people deserve to have some sort of closure, and deserve to be looked in the face by the French government and told that they were wronged.

@pacovadis Another crazy speaking, as if there are not nations and ethnic groups all over the world belaboring others. But killing? Who saved the Bosnians and Kosovars from being slaughtered? The US. Do you think that your local governments or groups of people are not doing wrong to others? In the US we had groups of American Indians killing other American Indians & whites, not only whites killing Indians, and Blacks owning Black slaves. Reality is complex, not neat and simple.

@lpgurlnj France doesn't hate the US. There are French people who hate the US just as Americans who hate them, but that doesn't cover all French by any means. If their government didn't want their airspace used for a fly-over for war purposes, that is their government's call. France doesn't just hop every time the US government wants them to. We may not always be in agreement, but just remember, it was French troops and ships that helped persuade Cornwallis to surrender at Yorktown... next

@lpgurlnj It was French citizens who had the idea and paid for the Statue of Liberty and shipped it over in commemoration of our first centennial of Independence in 1876. When General Pershing arrived in France in 1917 with US troops, he said "Lafayette, we are here!", as if to say we were there to pay back their solidarity with us for our Independence, and their contributions were Very Important. It's history, friend. If there are snotty French, there are also snotty Americans = Fact.
