It wouldn't be so bad if they did BOTH versions, but this, by itself... I feel like rolling up a newspaper and smacking Cronin on the nose, yelling "NO! Bad washed up artist! BAD!"
I love this unplugged version. Is there anywhere you can purchase a dvd of this performance? If anyone knows, please contact me with the info. Thanks. Everyone enjoy!
Thanks to Rainmaker2212!! We were very blessed. Hearing this song and all other tunes from late 70's and 80's make me hurt to back in time and live it again.
In Mississippi today, tornados dropping all around! Thought this one was very appropriate to post on FB right now. Awesome version of a really rockin' song, Thanx
Oh Man! they get me to singing - listen to this, sung like its the Blues but with those lyrics its got to be jazz - Aw heck lets just Rocket! ha ha love REO unplugged. Thanks for posting this video!

Awesome , always wanted to hear some REO done unplugged. Where's Golden Country. These guys were my first concert as a teenback in 76 . They were really kickin ass then and still are. Will always be loyal to Gary Richrath though.
If you think they're good now, you should have seen them back when Gary Richrath was still with them. As good as they are now, they were ten times better then.
This is a very jazzy "Riding The Storm Out" Even through all those different chords I essentially hear it as a song in the key of C going from 6mAm to 5G to 4F and 1C. My ear is so much into the domain of Major and Minor chords that I still love the Rock version of this song better. It's much easier for me to follow solid major and minor chords than other voiciings
This is great a bluesy version I was REO Speedwagon a few year ago at the Ohio State Fair, when they were starting a come back it was awsome concert. They are one of the best 70's band. :-)
I'm 20 years old and I can honestly say I've listened to this band for a good 9 years now, I first came across the band scanning through my radio stations and It was 93.3 WmmR here in Philadelphia and I heard take it on the run, then heard roll with the changes rite afterward, I was instantly hooked on this band and the great music they made. It's to bad I wasnt really around to see them in they're prime, but atleast there music can live forever! REO Speedwagon best band P.E.R.I.O.D.....
Am Bm C Bm Am....he is using a 1/2 version of the Bm and a C5 chord played D and B strings on the 5th fret....just roll the Am voicing up a whole step to the 3rd fret..
What really makes this version sound different, other than the obvious tempo change and the swing feel to it, is the fine bass work of Bruce and great little fills by Dave.
this song is deffinitly something else.. very beutiful, very melancolic and it simply feeds my soul.. simply beutiful..remains me on great times in the States..
In my opinion, way better than the electro rock version because one gets to the heart message of the song - modern city life is hard get back to nature that is where God can be met tete a tete. Could be totally awesome if the drummer was not put on leash by just playing the bongos and used his kitty.
i agree with all of yall . i can remember living in texas and hearing them for the first time my fav reo is take it on the run i mean the accustic version that is the way to hear a true musician and these guys are just that ...i am a reo speedwagon fan reencarnated
Absolutely fantastic! I loved the song when I was in high school but this unplugged version hits me at a level that few songs do anymore. I'd love to buy it.
Excellent version!!! never knew this version out; I was have owned the 8-track also, and seen REO 2x in PHoeniX and 2x in Seattle...REO was always mighty fine, thank you for the choice
@easyrider1962007 ... Absolutely, I had this on 8 track and LP. The LP was so used and scratched up that by 1982 it was un-playable. What a fun time we all had, the lake, the bonfires, the doobies, the ice cold beer, the young love, the memories, priceless!
I dedicate this song to my brothers and sisters on the gulf coast. From Amarillo to ya'll stay Texas strong. We will be OK. remember GOD LOVES TEXAS! so do I. prayers be with you. We are all family remember that.
