  • ironically this song is playing on the radio

  • It wouldn't be so bad if they did BOTH versions, but this, by itself... I feel like rolling up a newspaper and smacking Cronin on the nose, yelling "NO! Bad washed up artist! BAD!"

  • @JBJ3327 Damn right, This version is a mockery!! Gary is laughing at this foolery.

  • I love this unplugged version. Is there anywhere you can purchase a dvd of this performance? If anyone knows, please contact me with the info. Thanks. Everyone enjoy!

  • Thanks to Rainmaker2212!! We were very blessed. Hearing this song and all other tunes from late 70's and 80's make me hurt to back in time and live it again.

  • Lakeview Arena | The Concert Database

Marquette, Michigan. ... REO Speedwagon, 08/29/1978, REO Speedwagon · Thin Lizzy ...

  • Crazy Good!

  • nice nice ending

  • I'll be thinking 'bout you and TS Earl...this is for you Randy

  • What a great version. I always did love hearing this song when it would come on the radio. Might even like this one better.

  • This song was a true delight of mine..This is what made this group one of my top all time favorites...This song rocks...

  • REO "Riding The Storm Out" acoustic

  • ROCKS!

  • What a GREAT find.

  • excellent version! Bass player rocks

  • Nice arrangement... however, is it me or is Dave Amato starting to look more and more like Marty Feldman?

  • You ain't kidding, brother. *High 5*. Saw 'em on the High Infidelity and Good Trouble Tours. Went home and slept for almost 14 hours after both.

  • Awesome , always wanted to hear some REO done unplugged. Where's Golden Country. These guys were my first concert as a teenback in 76 . They were really kickin ass then and still are. Will always be loyal to Gary Richrath though.

  • If you think they're good now, you should have seen them back when Gary Richrath was still with them. As good as they are now, they were ten times better then.

  • @Gunstar1701 That ain't no shit. Back then an REO concert would plum wear your ass out.

  • My wife and I saw them again in Wendover two weeks ago and IT ROCKED just like in the early 80's. will see them again if they come close to salt lake

  • You Guys still rock!

  • @BOB == eye2eye heart2heart <-- see only you<-- on that stage<-- brau

  • @reo timeless means kindness

  • Greetings Earthlings: Question begs: % probability 100.00 -- Fools Face knows how to : Ride the STORM out.

  • Everyone trying to do the "Layla" thing....some songs just aren't meant to be done unplugged

  • fucking beastly my dad listnede to this when he was a kid lol

  • good good stuff!

  • This is a very jazzy "Riding The Storm Out" Even through all those different chords I essentially hear it as a song in the key of C going from 6mAm to 5G to 4F and 1C. My ear is so much into the domain of Major and Minor chords that I still love the Rock version of this song better. It's much easier for me to follow solid major and minor chords than other voiciings

  • Great sound. You never know what ANY song might sound like accoustically.

  • back again, my fav version, awesome!!!

  • This is a great version of Riding the Storm Out. Love the guitar work.

  • This is great a bluesy version I was REO Speedwagon a few year ago at the Ohio State Fair, when they were starting a come back it was awsome concert. They are one of the best 70's band. :-)

  • back in the day we were a legion, and times were good

  • u are right brother...wow! the days..back in the days....the arena groups...my gosh! our time was the best..!!!

  • I'm 20 too, and i just can say you elder generations were so lucky to have this kind of music !

  • who said it's only our elder. No style is reserved for only one type or age. If you like it and can play, then go ahead do your own songs and all.

  • its true :)

  • @Rainmaker2212 Thank you for liking stuff like this, Stay away from rap and hip hop and I would say you are a COOL kid

  • @Rainmaker2212 im almost 20 but yeah i wish we had this stuff now

  • I'm 20 years old and I can honestly say I've listened to this band for a good 9 years now, I first came across the band scanning through my radio stations and It was 93.3 WmmR here in Philadelphia and I heard take it on the run, then heard roll with the changes rite afterward, I was instantly hooked on this band and the great music they made. It's to bad I wasnt really around to see them in they're prime, but atleast there music can live forever! REO Speedwagon best band P.E.R.I.O.D.....

  • I still love it.

  • So geil....

  • This is just fantastic! Always loved that song - this is better than the original.

  • Boy is it storming outside right now and I love this acoustic version of this song the best. I love this song and thanks greatonyak for this!

  • nice and bluesy....gr8 vid

  • Anyone figure out the acoustic chord progression Mr. Cronin uses in this song?

  • Am Bm C Bm Am....he is using a 1/2 version of the Bm and a C5 chord played D and B strings on the 5th fret....just roll the Am voicing up a whole step to the 3rd fret..

  • Ransom Eli Olds, yeah. This is the most cool version of an all time loved song. They are great! Thanks for posting! *****

  • fyi...reo stands for "ransom e. olds...pre oldsmobile....just thought you should know...and now you cant un-know it

  • I thought I was the only one who knew this.

  • this song is deffinitly something else.. very beutiful, very melancolic and it simply feeds my soul.. simply beutiful..remains me on great times in the States..

Love and Peace from Bosnia Hercegowina..

  • Sorry drummer is not using bongos. I forget what that wooden ring with little brass discs is called. A shaker or Sachas?

  • In my opinion, way better than the electro rock version because one gets to the heart message of the song - modern city life is hard get back to nature that is where God can be met tete a tete. Could be totally awesome if the drummer was not put on leash by just playing the bongos and used his kitty.

  • "Well it's a wonderful night for a Moondance....."

  • Beautiful.. what else to say, but a pure perfection.. I love it!!

  • This definitely shows why they are where they are at today. Great song.

  • awesome will see them again in May here in Tx.. Can't wait!!!!! Thanks for the post...

  • i agree with all of yall . i can remember living in texas and hearing them for the first time my fav reo is take it on the run i mean the accustic version that is the way to hear a true musician and these guys are just that ...i am a reo speedwagon fan reencarnated

  • The acoustic version definately has a blues/jazz feel to it.

  • These guys sound as good as they did when they first played together, crazy.

  • Cool!!

  • I loved this song for ever, but this is a wonderful new great tape! Wow and respect!

  • Absolutely fantastic! I loved the song when I was in high school but this unplugged version hits me at a level that few songs do anymore. I'd love to buy it.

  • I am a diehard Gary Richrath fan, but this version is AWESOME!

  • i live in the same town as the lead singer did growing up!!

  • would that be hometown??

  • wow, unbelievable. This has to be the single most beautiful acoustic version of any song I have ever heard.

  • Beginning sounds a lot like moondance

  • Excellent version!!! never knew this version out; I was have owned the 8-track also, and seen REO 2x in PHoeniX and 2x in Seattle...REO was always mighty fine, thank you for the choice

  • This tune rocks as much today as it did in 1978 in my 8-track player!

  • @easyrider1962007 ... Absolutely, I had this on 8 track and LP. The LP was so used and scratched up that by 1982 it was un-playable. What a fun time we all had, the lake, the bonfires, the doobies, the ice cold beer, the young love, the memories, priceless!

  • wow.. this is a beautiful song.. i love this version..

    love from bosnia.....

  • beautiful song.. wakes up feelings and emotions, about youth, love and passions..

  • I dedicate this song to my brothers and sisters on the gulf coast. From Amarillo to ya'll stay Texas strong. We will be OK. remember GOD LOVES TEXAS! so do I. prayers be with you. We are all family remember that.

  • This one goes out to those folks in Galvaston who said they aren't afraid of a little rain. I'm sure they could be heard telling Hurricane Ike to "bring it." We'll see how that works out.

  • how do you get video on your radio?

  • This was my favorite song for years after I saw REO play it in the Saginaw Civic Center in 1976 or 77. They rocked then. Now they swing. Without a doubt.

  • go reo speedwagon

  • I think this is the only song I've actually heard and it's okay. The rest are okay I guess.

  • How would you know whether or not the rest are okay if this is the only one you have actually heard?

  • Its why I love to rate bout 24/7,:)I loved this version gave you 5stars,sub also on playlist for all to come here rate you.Great job of showing us music best med helps heal hurt, pain lost love and love:)grt job REO!!

  • This is awesome totally different than the version I used to dance my brains out to in the clubs, but love this" bluesy "sound, they've still got it too! Thanks for posting very enjoyable. Are they really from Springfield,IL?

  • Neil Doughty and Alan Gratzer are from Champaigne IL, Kevin Cronin is from Chicago, and the ledgendary Gary Richrath (the guy who wrote this song) is from East Peoria.

  • They are orginally from Champaign, IL.

  • One of the core groups for Rock. So proud to be part of the new (old) 60's generation. Saw this group mix on Soundstage, and they are better than ever...

  • i saw these guys at the minnesota state fair and they told a story about how there was a tornado like a mile a way and they played this song and the tornado didn't touch them..erie
