The thing that cacks me up about DIO, is the fact that most singers' voices crap out through the years and he had his till the day he died. God rest his soul.
@hrtbreaker1977 Well for one he took care of his voice. Also, the voice doesn't really go, it's the higher octave range that goes, and while Dio's voice was very powerful, and really great, he didn't have much higher octave vocal range. If Dickenson and Halford are singing the way they did 25 years go when they're in the late 60's, that would be something.
Best metal vocalist + one of the greatest metal guitarists! If you like Ritchie Blackmore, you should check out my song "Pacht's Opus 1 for Electric Guitar in C Minor". It's kind of a shred song, but you can hear a little Ritchie Blackmore influence in it.
he passed today R.I.P. ronnie you will always be the man on the silver mountain.he grew up 40 miles from me a local legend and underrated . gonna miss ya ronnie.
ive got this concert on dvd its called rainbow live in munich 1977 and is one of the best rock concerts ever its just a shame about the picture quality 1970,s technology sucks
Saw them on this tour, in 76, with REO, tune a piano tour, there was something magical about that time, rock was different. or maybe I was.. oh well good times to be sure!!
I remember my first time listening to the "Rising" album! I was about 14 years old, and a little bit late since I born in 1979. Anyway, It amazed (and still amaze me) me that a music that have that many years created is so powerful and mesmerizing, it was a grateful experience, even more since first time I've listened to was on a VYNIL record! RAINBOW ROCKS!
Damn, can you imagine being able to see Rainbow this lineup (including Tony Carey of Planet P fame, RJD, Cozy, Jimmy Bain and Ritchie) at the absolute height of their power. At the same time Pink Floyd was touring supporting the Animals album and wasn't this year the last Zeppelin tour? FTW!
.ritchie is a great player, one of the best, despite rolling stones magizine low rating of him, like 68 or something, lol, blackmores a top 10p rock guitar player in history, somewhere in the mix with hendrix, clapton, page, iomni, nugent, angus, eddie, ray davies, srv, rossington and collins, dickie, johnny winter, buddy guy, neil young, pete townsend, ...david gilmore, .. .... blackmore is up there in the top 10
you are correct sir. Time is not being kind to Blackmore & DP. Blackmore is SO good, used to be a guitar hero & is flat out being forgotten. I guess him dropping out is part the reason, but DP should also be in the R&R HOF>
ritchie was a great blues player, but was against playing it, altrhough the listeners wanted him to do more blues, ..... what he did do throughout deep purple and rainbow was great, and some of the greatest rock we have available to us, .....
Wow, the same solo as in the Concerto, and every other slop mess fraudulent nonsense SOLO (a lot of pull off licks and mistakes) perpetuated by Blackmore.
u must be one of those rigid page, clapton amateur fans, mistakes?its called improvisation(page dosent even know what that mean),not only ritchie is good solo guitar player, hes aslo a very good slide player
Saw these guys many times at Newcastle city hall, U.K. the last time blackmore got on top of the P.A. stack and smashed his guitar of the balcony, no one told him it was a listed building and he got banned and charged criminal damage, good night though !!.
I wonder if they tour much in the States, I live in NY and Ritchie lives up in Mt Sinai so i dont think that should be a problem, but i heard they prefer playing in castles
wow! Blackmore is such a conductor making the band follow him.. They're all focusing on him! You can see him doing these signals, warning the band, like he threw his hand three times, to say: "Okay I'm starting", and then one more time for the drums to come in! Amazing! Blackmore, he loves to improvise, as if he's encouraging the band to make mistakes, lol! Rainbow, Deep Purple are great improvisers, because of Ritchie Blackmore! Led Zeppelin was friggin good at improv too, without signals too.
Beacon theater NYC 1977 ........ Cozy Powell did the best drum solo I have ever seen and this band rocked the house. Blackmore dropped his guitar in the middle of "If you don't like rock and roll" and there was a big fight on the stage for the guitar ......The roadie hands blackmore a new guitar and the band keeps playing while security tries to get the crazy fans off of the stage. What a night!
This footage was indeed taken from the DVD 1977 Munich concert. Blackmore has just left jail hours before this gig... He is the best hard rock guitar player ever, and Dio is a vocal god!!!
I was born in Chicago , but I grew up in Jersey , & I got to see these fukkers @ the Capitol Theater , in Passaic N.J. They left WAY too early & some dumbfuck lit his seat on fire !

Many, many bands add a small intro for of their songs when they play them live, making the waiting for the "real" song interesting!
And in this case it's not bullshit, but some bluesy guitar tricks!
