I love how people still refuse to do research and make things up as they go just to fit their agenda.

The Mormon church WANTED to give men of ALL color the priesthood in its early days. It was one of the biggest supporters of the abolitionist movement, but because of the hatred and bigotry exhibited in the country at that time, the priesthood had to be limited for fear of further acts of aggression/violence by mobs opposing Mormon doctrine.

This decision probably saved lives.

Mormons and Mormonism have huge problems scriptually. 1.. The book of Hebrews speaks on how obsolete the Levitical/Aaronic Priesthood is now in a new testament church seeing as though Jesus is our high priest now. 2 Even if it was, Numbers 12:1 says that MOSES who was a LEVITE and acted as a Priest and Prophet, married an ETHIOPIAN WOMAN, and if that is so, any boys that came from that relationship were legitimately able act as priests under the Levitical Priesthood.

Aside from the fact that Mitt couldn't answer to that gay Veteran, this video gives a better glimpse of why Mitt probably had to reject African Americans from getting the priesthood before June 1978. Remember Mitt probably was a Mormon bishop at the time in the late 1970's. Unless Mitt can answer directly about the past racist beliefs of the church or the current homophobic policies, then he will have a tough time in the general election.

Mitt Romney isn't capable of being an honest leader in the Mormon church let a lone the american government. All Mormons either lie out their asses, or they haven't got a clue how much Mormonipulation is going on in their own church because they've been conditioned within it's persuasive principals for so long.

I don't know about this. Brigham Young said that everything that comes out of his mouth is the word of god. He also said a lot of racist stuff, including that blacks can't have the priesthood because of the curse of Cain. Between that, the Book of Abraham and the Book of Mormon, a whole lot of Mormons for a whole long time believed that the "policy" of blacks not having the priesthood had a lot of scriptural support. I'm afraid you are just giving the Mormons too much credit in this video.

I believe the reason they would not let non-whites have the same status in the church goes back to the war that was supposedly fought in heaven between jesus and his brother satan. Everyone pre-existed as spirits according to them. So the people that fought valiantly on jesus's side came down as white. Everyone that didn't came down as non-white. It wasn't just black people. Good job on the video!

On the other hand, I guess it is possible Romney and Huntsman might encourage that monogamy be upheld, since mainstream lds wants always for everyone to forget that polygamy was strongly taught by its founders, and is still on its doctrinal books such as Doctrine and Covenants. Salt Lake City leadership falls all over itself to distance itself from today's polygamists, so as to continue to ape evangelical Christianity as closely as possible, and dupe more people into joining.

Polygamy is huge issue also, imo.. I can't believe for one minute that Romney or Huntsman would oppose anything where polygamy catches the spotlight if they were elected to the White House. Utah stilll refuses to deal with polygamy issues correctly, so other states are having to do so- like Texas. Canada at least recently upheld its laws on polygamy, after a very lengthy review. If the US goes through the same thing, men like these two from Utah will not be reliable to side with monogamy.

Racism and the denial of the Priesthood to non-whites is in Mormon scriptures. The LDS try to have it both ways to appease everyone.

The changes in the LDS were all to make the LDS look more Politically Correct.

Allowing Black men to hold the Priesthood didn't happen until the Mormons were faced with fact that Filipinos, Indonesians and Tongans were also dark-skinned.

It was not done for African-Americans.

It was done to get more Members from the Philippines and Indonesia.

No "White & Delightsome" = No Priesthood.

The exclusion of Blacks from the Priesthood was doctrinal & was not just a policy.The LDS Church has a long history of whitewashing their past.Gordon Hinckley told Larry King that Polygamy was not doctrinal even though it was institutionalized by D&C 132 & their website says it was a commandment of God.As this video points out if polygamy & racism were only policies then they would not have needed revelations to change them. They still have not apologized for the Moutain Meadows Massacre either.
