Dirt looks fun, but to say Dirt racing pulls just as much g-force pressures as F1 is absolutely incorrect. A tire sliding around on dirt, relatively frictionless pulls MUCH LESS G's than an extremely soft, grippy compound tire on sticky asphalt. Not to mention the higher speeds in F1 and additional downforce measures. With that said, dirt racing provides some of the best racing known.
All of the nascar guys stink on dirt. They are used to driving air conditioned cars that handle perfect. The most they turn the wheel is 7" at martinsville. A dirt track changes every lap and you have to learn how to feel what the car's doing. I love watching rookies on dirt, they learn to respect the car real quick! lol
First off, it was a charity event and every1 who watched it on hbo helped give money to a charity. Secondly, racing is racing in my mind so whether they raced hybrids, go-karts, or late modifieds, its still some of the best drivers in the world competing on the same track.
Please do not misinterpret my post, I would love to be a flag waving American with a great F1 driver in the seat laying waste to all Euro drivers, but it has not happened yet and I doubt it will happen. Gordon did ok when he had a chance to get out into Montoya's car a few years back, but the 1.6 seconds he was off Montoyota's shakedown lap in the F1 car is an utter eternity in F1, and Gordon had traction control driving the car for him! Heck, .4 seconds is an eternity in F1. Too bad really :/

Sorry but I have some dirt track experience in late models and sprint cars and I have seen some tubby guys racing those cars. No way are they in shape for 4gs every few seconds. And in now way could any form of dirt track prepare one for 4gs every few seconds. The stamina and constant fiddling with steering wheel mounted controls is far beyond the realm of dirt. Think of it as a 1917 biplane vs F22 raptor.
I am not trying to argue with you here, but I think after seeing your posts you automatically think that driving, not only these cars, but the 850+HP beast of a stock car they drive is a an entire different story. Those guys are driving it for 500 miles, ad their cars are a piece of crap compared to how an F1 drives. Even Montoya has commented many times on physical fitness in NASCAR to F1. Ferrari has no problem cranking out bhp when they have a chassis that is balanced enough to handle that bhp. The GT40 was a monster of a car that LOST the sports car world championship to the 4L V12 Ferrari p4. Sure it won Lemans but that's about it. The power is not needed without the control to harness it. We Americans have our priorities all wrong in using truck engines as sports car engines. Very inefficient.

Dirt is very challenging. Dirt wil spin you around without any warning or get you sideways at the exact same spot on the track the next lap around you thought was tacky. I've never driven on asphault, only on dirt, but when I watch NASCAR they talk about the same things, changing track conditions. The difference is dirt is more extreme track changes but asphault is faster. As for g forces, I'd doubt F1 has much more than a 410 sprint at Eldora. Asphault is where the $ is. That's the difference
@arizonaresident1 I drive dirt and asphalt, and dirt gives you alot more warning that the car will spin. If you drive dirt then you know what I'm talking about when I say you can feel the rear end trying to drive up into your ass. You can just feel alot more of what the tires are doing on the track on dirt because dirt tires are softer and you run fairly soft rear suspension with alot of travel. On asphalt, you don't feel any of that. You get no feedback from the tires like you do on Dirt.

The Outlaws turn the quarter here in 11.3 seconds, they can't do that on pavement I don't believe, on the other hand winged sprints are turning paved Salem Speedway in the 14s, with is hard to believe for a banked half mile track. I ran pavement for decades then switched to dirt, I liked banked dry slicks cause I coud drive um like pavement, I didn't care for backin it in so much on flat tracks.

Dirt looks fun, but to say Dirt racing pulls just as much g-force pressures as F1 is absolutely incorrect. A tire sliding around on dirt, relatively frictionless pulls MUCH LESS G's than an extremely soft, grippy compound tire on sticky asphalt. Not to mention the higher speeds in F1 and additional downforce measures. With that said, dirt racing provides some of the best racing known.

All of the nascar guys stink on dirt. They are used to driving air conditioned cars that handle perfect. The most they turn the wheel is 7" at martinsville. A dirt track changes every lap and you have to learn how to feel what the car's doing. I love watching rookies on dirt, they learn to respect the car real quick! lol

First off, it was a charity event and every1 who watched it on hbo helped give money to a charity. Secondly, racing is racing in my mind so whether they raced hybrids, go-karts, or late modifieds, its still some of the best drivers in the world competing on the same track.

Please do not misinterpret my post, I would love to be a flag waving American with a great F1 driver in the seat laying waste to all Euro drivers, but it has not happened yet and I doubt it will happen. Gordon did ok when he had a chance to get out into Montoya's car a few years back, but the 1.6 seconds he was off Montoyota's shakedown lap in the F1 car is an utter eternity in F1, and Gordon had traction control driving the car for him! Heck, .4 seconds is an eternity in F1. Too bad really :/

Jerry Rice (jerryriceracingDOTcom) was responsible for helping Montoya learn to drive a late model. Also, he was crazy enough to let Montoya drive HIS late model in the prelude. I don't know about you, but there's no way i'd let Montoya in my car lol. Regardless, Jerry Rice is one of the best dirt track drivers i know.

Dirt Super Late Model and NASCAR stock car racing are the hardest forms of racing on earth. These "Superior" F-1 drivers come here and they learn what REAL racing is all about. When you come here, you're not driving those stupid F-1 supped up go-carts, your driving a REAL car. Your driving an 800+ HP beast, not one of those 300 HP F-1 cars.

And in order to race F1, one must be in peak phsyical fitness. The acceleration and braking is upwards of 4gs, and these forces are felt every couple of seconds. No other spec of racing incorporates this spec of force.

Sorry but I have some dirt track experience in late models and sprint cars and I have seen some tubby guys racing those cars. No way are they in shape for 4gs every few seconds. And in now way could any form of dirt track prepare one for 4gs every few seconds. The stamina and constant fiddling with steering wheel mounted controls is far beyond the realm of dirt. Think of it as a 1917 biplane vs F22 raptor.

I am not trying to argue with you here, but I think after seeing your posts you automatically think that driving, not only these cars, but the 850+HP beast of a stock car they drive is a an entire different story. Those guys are driving it for 500 miles, ad their cars are a piece of crap compared to how an F1 drives. Even Montoya has commented many times on physical fitness in NASCAR to F1. You are sawing that wheel for basically 500 miles.

try 800bhp+ with 19,000rpm (FIA imposed rev limiting or it would be higher). In all aspects of engineering, Europeans have done far more per liter than Americans have. The corvette is living proof of this. Chevy needed a supercharger and an extra liter to match Ferrari's 599 naturally aspirated bph. That's masterful engineering on Ferrari's part.

Ferrari has no problem cranking out bhp when they have a chassis that is balanced enough to handle that bhp. The GT40 was a monster of a car that LOST the sports car world championship to the 4L V12 Ferrari p4. Sure it won Lemans but that's about it. The power is not needed without the control to harness it. We Americans have our priorities all wrong in using truck engines as sports car engines. Very inefficient.

Dirt is very challenging. Dirt wil spin you around without any warning or get you sideways at the exact same spot on the track the next lap around you thought was tacky. I've never driven on asphault, only on dirt, but when I watch NASCAR they talk about the same things, changing track conditions. The difference is dirt is more extreme track changes but asphault is faster. As for g forces, I'd doubt F1 has much more than a 410 sprint at Eldora. Asphault is where the $ is. That's the difference

@arizonaresident1 I drive dirt and asphalt, and dirt gives you alot more warning that the car will spin. If you drive dirt then you know what I'm talking about when I say you can feel the rear end trying to drive up into your ass. You can just feel alot more of what the tires are doing on the track on dirt because dirt tires are softer and you run fairly soft rear suspension with alot of travel. On asphalt, you don't feel any of that. You get no feedback from the tires like you do on Dirt.

The Outlaws turn the quarter here in 11.3 seconds, they can't do that on pavement I don't believe, on the other hand winged sprints are turning paved Salem Speedway in the 14s, with is hard to believe for a banked half mile track. I ran pavement for decades then switched to dirt, I liked banked dry slicks cause I coud drive um like pavement, I didn't care for backin it in so much on flat tracks.
