What color grout would you use for a mosaic art (baby girl's) shoe tiled with tiny hand cut mirror?

I just finished a shoe with an intricate design. I tried light tan grout and dark black and they both look terrible. Please help.

@ekocentric you can buy grout colorant. You could use a pink colorant in white grout if it is for a baby girl. hope this helps

I love this, thank you. I remember the movie, "How to make an American Quilt," where a lady was angry over the fact her husband cheated on her. She used to break glasses all the time, then use the pieces to create a mosaic pattern in her bathroom. It always struck me as being a sublime way of coping with anger, and I've been attracted to mosaics ever since.

Your piece looks really beautiful before the grout was applied but I'm sure it's even better afterwards. My questions:

-How long should you leave grout on a piece before cleaning it off?

- Does it depend on the type of piece, such as glass, wood, or ceramic?

-I've seen books that talk about knowing the thickness of pieces to use. How do you know the amount of grout to use for a certain thickness of your cut pieces? Thank you!

These are things you find out with experience. Just eye ball the grout, first wipe after an hour, second cleaning wipe no more than 24 hours afterwards otherwise you'll be scrubbing it off with steel wool :-)

It is important to make sure that your tiles are properly glued down before applying grout. Grout is not an adhesive and if your tiles are not properly glued ahead of time they are going to pop off.
