Secondly, the Roman and Macedonian Empires would have faired pretty well against the Mongols - in large part because they confronted and defeated people who used the same tactics as the Mongols, and did so more than once. I wouldn't label Genghis the greatest military leader ever; on of the greatest sure, but you have to take into account who and what the Mongols fought against. Yes they created a great empire, but 1/2 to 3/4 of that empire was unpopulated or sparsely populated steppe. And aside from China (which was in turmoil too) they didn't really fight that many organized opposition.

I think the film looks pretty good.

And as for the chinese text, I think it could be appropriate. I believe this film is just about the early life of Temujin. And as anyone who's studied his history knows, he didn't commission the uyghur script until sometime into his reign. So the 'chinese symbols' are contemporaneous as any other.

No its not appropriate because the Mongol nomads never, ever adopted Chinese as a writing script. Before they had Uighur script, they were either illiterate or used Turkic runic scripture. Why do you think they went through so much trouble to adopt Semitic style scripts when there was a perfectly good writing script nearby in China? Becuz they didn't want to. And the film sucks, inaccurate history. But for average, know nothing movie goers, it might be something.
