See here's the thing: seals are cute, and we like cute things. If they weren't cute I would be willing to me a lot of money that no one would care. What about elephants being killed? Secondly the seal hunt is a profitable natural resource that employs many people across Canada. Thirdly the natural predators of the seal are almost gone so if we dont keep the population under control then they will wipe themselves out. A seal molts from white coat to gray at about 12 days to 2wks old. They'll try to say that a seal magically becomes Not a baby at 13 days or 3wks old. SEALS live 30 to 40 years, a human 60 to 80, so 3wk old seal compares to 6 week old baby. Sealers will try to con you and say now it's not a baby anymore. Hello. I am from Newfoundland. I just want you to know that not everyone from Newfoundland endorses the seal hunt. I myself, dread the idea of having to hunt. Most sealers I have known hunt do so to survive. They have little other option, they either must hunt or starve. Again, I am not condoning it I just wish to give a perspective as to why this happens.
Many sealers I've met are saddened by having to kill these beautiful animals, but have few other options.

Sealers are liars, criminals &con artists..the seasonal income of fishermen is mostly shellfish..including snow crab.. the DFO decimated fish populations and are trying the same with seals. The point is sealers are ripping off Canuck taxpayers, which spend $30 million for this atrocity, and sealers cost Canada $500 million in lost trade from boycotts.

What do harp seals eat, exactly? And they seem to be doing fine. There are, what, over 5 million of them now? In spite of their being harvested. When at one time there were (only) two million. Meaning: the harp seal is not on any endangered list. That seems like pretty reasonable wildlife mgt. to me, if more is to be considered better for a species like the harp seal.

Once again, sealhuntifaw, I was misled by waswidat69's original video. I posted several retractions explaining how I was deceived and jumped to a conclusion, however probable that conclusion seems. Now is your chance to impress everyone by retracting even a small fraction of the lies and misnomers you have spread about the harp seal hunt and the sealers themselves. However, I am not holding my breath...
My replies to user Rhysfawr can be seen on my own channel as well as his or hers. I was not attempting to cover any thing up, as I said, at the time I saw the video and my comments about it there was no information claiming it was a dead sealer. The video has since been removed.

Sealhunt - At the time of my viewing the video and my comments about it, I was not aware the information regarding the video had been changed. From my point of view no where did Waswitdat69 claim it was a dead sealer. The quote(s) you have taken are from my own video (not the video in question) and are completely taken out of context. The "they" you refer to in the quote do not refer to SS specifically. Not to mention the comments were made (1 week ago) not the 4 days you falsely claim.

First and probably the most important. The seal hunt is a part of native culture. The natives have been using the seals to survive long before anyone knew about Canada. Secondly the seal hunt is a profitable natural resource that employs many people across Canada. Thirdly the natural predators of the seal are almost gone so if we dont keep the population under control then they will wipe themselves out. Sealer thugs dont give a damn about Canada or their peoples future, only about short-term profits. Seal populations are endangered, at 8% of their original numbers, and already dropping like a stone due to ice loss from global warming. 95% of seals diet is predators of food fish like cod. Less seals = more predators which means food fish will never recover. Harper & Hearn are part of this mafia and they are traitors to Canada. There are plenty of other sources of income without criminal activity

Sealers will try to dupe people with their favorite argument, the whitecoat baby false info. Plenty of whitecoats are still killed by poachers. A seal molts from white coat to gray at about 12 days to 2wks old. They'll try to say that a seal magically becomes Not a baby at 13 days or 3wks old. SEALS live 30 to 40 years, a human 60 to 80, so 3wk old seal compares to 6 week old baby. Sealers will try to con you and say now it's not a baby anymore. A scam to get away with killing them. babies.

Hello. I am from Newfoundland. I just want you to know that not everyone from Newfoundland endorses the seal hunt. I myself, dread the idea of having to hunt. Most sealers I have known hunt do so to survive. They have little other option, they either must hunt or starve. Again, I am not condoning it I just wish to give a perspective as to why this happens.
Many sealers I've met are saddened by having to kill these beautiful animals, but have few other options.

Sealers are liars, criminals &con artists..the seasonal income of fishermen is mostly shellfish..including snow crab.. the DFO decimated fish populations and are trying the same with seals. This is extra OFF-SEASON income which makes a pitiful $6 million for a few greedy thugs, some of which come from the cities. The point is sealers are ripping off Canuck taxpayers, which spend $30 million for this atrocity, and sealers cost Canada $500 million in lost trade from boycotts.

The meat of seals from their barbarism can't be sold so the corrupt govt steps in and pays for the unused rotting flesh. Sealers will spend most of the year drunk, on drugs and collecting government welfare checks. Nobody should have ANY sympathy for seal killers. I mistakenly believed it was genuine, then discovered it wasn't. I have since retracted repeatedly (this should be moot) any comments I made based on waswidat69's misleading video. Hey, there are various species of bees that actually are endangered, unlike the harp seal, which isn't. Histope, you may not like the argument because it vividly illustrates your hyprocrisy, but: do you have an entomologist inspect the windshield of your car for these endangered species of insect following every time you drive? No. I didn' think so. Which is worse, 'cuz the bees you are so flippantly killing may ACTUALLY be endangered, unlike (once again, in case you missed it) the harp seal.

What do harp seals eat, exactly? And they seem to be doing fine. There are, what, over 5 million of them now? In spite of their being harvested. When at one time there were (only) two million. Meaning: the harp seal is not on any endangered list. That seems like pretty reasonable wildlife mgt. to me, if more is to be considered better for a species like the harp seal.

My replies to user Rhysfawr can be seen on my own channel as well as his or hers. I was not attempting to cover any thing up, as I said, at the time I saw the video and my comments about it there was no information claiming it was a dead sealer. The video has since been removed.

Sealhunt - At the time of my viewing the video and my comments about it, I was not aware the information regarding the video had been changed. From my point of view no where did Waswitdat69 claim it was a dead sealer. The quote(s) you have taken are from my own video (not the video in question) and are completely taken out of context. The "they" you refer to in the quote do not refer to SS specifically. Not to mention the comments were made (1 week ago) not the 4 days you falsely claim.

So, I take it you are a lifelong vegan, who has never willing travelled by automobile without having an entomologist inspect its windshield for endangered species of insect afterward. Otherwise, I am confused by your contradictions. Condoning the hunting of a species not on any endangered list while obeying the rules of Canadian constitutional protocol ('overbearing pc' you call it) does not a contradiction make. & if it did, a lot of nations would qualify.
