The police are just lucky that Esposito was there to diffuse the situation - if there had been even a few deaths, it's impossible to say what would happen, but in other countries that is the flash point for revolution!

he person being interviewed did NOT understand WHY the officer was pushing his horse forward... the horse was trying to BACK away - and when a horse is backing in that fashion, the NEXT step for the horse is to turn and bolt!

learn about horses before making asinine statements! the LAST thing you want is have a horse backing uncontrolled in that situation. idiots were hitting the horses, flapping signs at the horse that shied and slipped! this crowd acted stupidly.

NYPD needs to be trained to deal calmly with the people they are supposed to be working for. It's really sad when it's seen as a big deal when one officer is actually doing his job well. The rude, bullying, baton-swinging, pepper-spraying officers need to be pulled off public duty and sent through serious retraining. The tough guy image crap needs to stay back in their locker rooms.

It is not "civil disobedience". Americans have a duty to dissent along with a right to assemble and the police gave their solemn oath to protect and preserve this right.

Regarding Chief Esposito: It's a relief to see there's at least one good apple at the top of a rotten barrel.
