@guitaart Awesome! Glad you found it helpful! I've used a few different MIDI controllers since then, but this one did start me off with the whole MIDI thing. Check out the controlling MIDI devices from Logic / Ableton video I have, that is pretty awesome if you ask me! ;-) Please subscribe as more videos are coming!
@0ddb0d Great vid. What other midi controllers have you used? I'm thinking about upgrading my Hughes & Kettner Switchblade midi controller to something with a screen. Just to certain what to go for. New CAE looks good. Probably pricey.
Hi,great video. One issue, I have a DOD VCC1 expression pedal that works in the Ax FX directly, but I cant get the interface of the Midimate expression input, to play nice with the AX FX. I reversed the cables for the polarity change. When I get to Midi Mate PEDC, I scrolled to from off to 1. The PEDL assignment sweeps from O to 100 so the midimate reads it but the AX FX external 1 pedal setting for wa stays locked. As you skipped this step could you walk me through it? Thanks again
@klaushouz Thanks for the feedback, unfortunately I don't have the Midi Mate anymore. I cannot remember the steps for setting up the Wah pedal. I remember that I did get it working though. If you are getting the MIDI Mate to recognize the pedal sweep I would think it shouldn't be too hard to get the Axe FX to play. I would suggest you post your question on the Axe FX forum. Someone with the Midi Mate might be able to help you walk through it. Good luck!
@asianaxeman Really? I am not sure it's a fraction of the cost. The total cost of the above was $1700. TC Nova System and a JVM costs more right? It's all cool dude. Thanks for watching! Glad you got something that works for you. That's the name of the game.
i have a mark V that i really love....do you think that was a waste of money and i could have just gotten the axe fx standard?
just curious how you compare this to a real tube...keep in mind i play for myself and no one else and i use a lot of dynamics and really use the power tubes in a musical way.
@SwampAshHSS The AXE FX really shines in the area of pick dynamics. It responds exactly like a real amp but better in my opinion as I can run amps at volumes I couldn't in the real world. Try running a Marshall Plexi at near full volume. I still have a couple of tube amps, but I've not turned them on in a while...
Good tutorial. I'm wondering how would I assign a preset on my rack preamp(Voodu Valve in this case) to a button number on the midi mate for a specific bank? I'd like to be able to select bank 0, tap on say button 2 and have it bring up preset 123 on my preamp.
its a really good midi controller, I have this and I have the Roland Fc 200....and now I must sell the midimate,,,but Im not completely sure...what do you think about the roland fc 200 ??....I dunno what really do now xD....I like both of them, and I love the 3 and 8 digits visor
Thank you so much for this manual. I thought of making presets for turning barely chorus off, etc. Whoa thanks. Was a bit frustrated about the gig tonight. Thank you, sir!
The buttons are kind of rubbery... They seem to do okay, the feel is a little odd though, not a lot of feedback in terms of accuracy if you know what I mean. It's not bad for doing the job but is definitely not as tactile as the all access, FX1, GC Pro etc.. It's cheap, it's cheerful.
The Behringer FCB1010 is actually a nice Midi controller as well.. especially with the unofficial Uno firmware. I just wish it had I huge display like the Midi Mate.. not such a big deal if you memorize what all your patches are and do move them around too much :)
It's always very cool when somebody explains stuff he already checked out for other people to make it easier, especially with something relatively complicated. Thanks !!! 5 Stars from me...
Hey man, thanks!

so if i buy a midi mate and an axe fx and i just wanna do bank mode all I've got to do is set the offset to 1 in my IO on the axe fx and then what?
snapascrew 8 months ago
Hi, very good video. Is the Midimate totally programmable, so you can press say, button 6, and it send CC102 with a value of 127, for example?

In bank mode can you use the tap tempo function?

Awesome video! I was debating between this and a Mesa Mark V, and it all depended on how simple this was to use live, this video just sold it!

can you just program to read the pre-sets already in the fx unit?
jaiknkayla 2 years ago
No you would need something like the Liquid Foot Pro or Liquid Foot Jr for that...

Are the buttons on the MidiMate made up of plastic? Are they sturdy enough?

some buttons tend to become "unsensitive",like, you have to press a lot to activate the patch..at least, this happened on some of my MidiMate
