Just who are we to bring Judgement upon God's children, we have all come short if not on one thing then another. I don't agree with Homosexuality, but at the same time I dont agree with adultery, and fornication either..it all came from some where. The world is just sin sick, and we shouldn't pick out things and say this is the big one.. Sin is sin I dont care what it is. People are seeking for something in everything and there is only one true place to find it, and that is in Jesus Christ.
In the words of Jesus found in matthew 22:36 -40 we are told by Jesus the most important command is to Love one another and make God our first love and by what I have seen by all the black preachers that preach hate against Homosexuals dont they realise God came for all people including sinners and we are called to by these scriptures to love another.
The Black church undoubtedly has a strong impact on the Black community. The two are interconnected and thus the stigmatization of our gay brothers/sisters must be addressed from the pulpit. This is a part of our prophetic responsiblity as an oppressed people. The blood is on our hands if we stand by and watch the lynching of innocent ppl. because of our own discomfort and ignorance surrounding homosexuality. We must educate, speak truth to power and act in love. This must be our charge.
America can't be racist, we have a black history month." - same logic. I am fully aware of Trinity's sgl ministry. I am also aware that at 1point, sgl was shut down due to lack of participation and the ministry never grew beyond 20 members within a church of upwards of 10,000 It is also widely known that the sgl ministry was/is the step child of the church and is not listed along side the other ministries. While Trinity does lead the way on social justice issues, this one is still lacking
