  • have you guys seen the Mixamo auto-rigger? mixamo.com/c/auto-rigger

you get the basic body rig in less than a minute, a good starting point for the skinning work

  • I notice in a lot of games on characters where their elbows and knees bend, it squishes weird. Good example is at 3:17 when he's bending her arm. The crease of her elbow goes in and that's always looked so weird to me. Isn't there a way to fix that?

  • @XSilverful You have to paint the weights and custom tailor the deformation vert by vert.

  • thanks..

  • which software are you using?

  • which software are you using?

  • So This is how they make online game character and also 3d porn

  • Put Jiggle deformer on the tig 'ole biddies. lol

  • 1:03 :O....

  • Two thing's I'd like to know. What is the program you used? And would it work with Adobe?

  • @mars8808 you have had four weeks to contemplate that question, in this time you must of learned that the word Adobe is just a company brand and under that there are many products from Adobe, Also not a word that's been mentioned regular "MAYA" this could be a clue to one of the question's you asked !

  • Sexy

  • Nothing special here, but i really liked your spine combination and a this leg ease out.

    :)

  • After i saw the beginning, i skipped right to the animetion : p

(Unfortinately it wasnt there : p)

  • Dude, you could make your own 3D porn and masturbate to it.

  • how I cant download that program???

  • I really like your animation topology, I am very interested in how you did your smart system you called "dampening mechanism" for the knee and elbows. It's just genious, I had so many problems with joint snapping straight, it is so frustrating...

Please kindly enlighten me with your knowledge, you would help me enourmously !

    Kind regards,

    Lee.

  • @lee4samurai I would also like enlightenment on this topic.

  • would like to know if you freelance. please contact me at rafael123_98yahoocom

  • nice rig

how long did that took to setup?

  • wow!!!

  • Great now if I ever get some time with a woman I'll know all about the bendy stuff they can do. 1:01 looks especially interesting.

  • Okey i kinda laughed when you pulled our bone forth and back xD But really nice character though i myself wish to make some cool 3D character sometime but Maya is so freakin hard!

  • @dwagothegod Just let it flow naturally to you, don't push it, don't be wanting to do some cool tricks asap. One first has to learn how to walk before he starts to run. It will come to ya. Look at some Digital Tutors vids or better yet, Gnomon Workshop videos (the real production-like experience). They've got some amazing tutorials that helped me at the start. I came from Max, but am soooo glad I switched to Maya.

  • do you have a detailed tutorial, that explains how to rigg?

  • looks like you got a weight painting problem.

The chin is moving while performing the spine rig demonstration..

  • A really nice and advanced rig, I'd lie to see this character animated! Any videos on that?

  • The rig is nice and the character is original! Is there a video of this rig animated?

  • Thanks for this, its just too marvelous...Can u help with a problem. I think i mistakenly locked my character movement control, so whenever i click on the control, it all goes ashe and unmoveable, please reply me if you have any idea on how to unlock it so its all moveable..Cheers!

  • would you mind explain me how to set up the "circle curve" on the knee and elbow that helps avoid from IK 's being snap straight which sometimes make weird animation.

    i'm having problem cause that.

    Thank you

  • Where did you learn to rig and where can I learn?

  • hey, what software do u use sir? is it a freeware? coz i'm getting hard time studying truespace 7.6, some of the tools aren't workin' good. pls reply.

  • It's Autodesk Maya, study real hard for 2 years and you'll be ok :)

  • Simply amazing.. I was always interested in 3d animation, gaming, design etc. So what do u do next with this sell the shell to someone and can u program it??? Just very curious.

  • haha...1:03 = Ooga-Chaga! Ooga-Chaga!

  • Hey what collage did you go to to learn this?

    Is it spendy?

  • Hi, I am at the modeling stage for my character (with clothes) that will soon be rigged and then animated... and I want to ask you if I should have different parts of the character's body such as the head, torso, arms, legs, shirts, pants, etc. separate? or is it better to have all the body parts connected, and have geometry with nCloth as the clothing for the character? Which would work better and faster for rigging and animating? Thank you.

    great tutorial btw!

  • how do you make something like that i would like to know because all i know is the biped rigging?? plz help

    thx if you can

  • how long did it take to be done?

  • When I first set this up from scratch it took me a month or so of experimenting to get it functional... then there were refinements over the rest of the development cycle and with each future project.

  • sex

  • agreed!

  • PERV!

    >P

    lol

  • Awesome work!

I want to set up my figure EXACTLY like this, but I am just a beginner when it comes to rigging.

I don't think I can achieve what you have done without looking at the actual model in maya.

I know it is a big ask, but I don't suppose you would consider allowing others to download your rig so that we can really learn how to do it your way.

Either way, thanks for the great video. I love what you have done!

  • does maya take a long time to figure out? or is it user friendly for people that really want to start animating but dont know how? how long did making her take?

    thanks

    Ro

  • As my tutor said on our first day of 3D; the Maya interface makes Photoshop look like a picnic. You can download the education version and the tutorials that go with it, but it's not exactly something you learn in a weekend...

  • where do u download it ^_^

  • I love Maya... I came over from Max and was initially skeptical, but now I think it's much a more flexible package. In my current position I'm using Max again... and slowly learning to love it again.

  • I am just in the process of going over to Maya from Max. And I agree with that Maya feels more flexible and even faster to work with once you get used to it.

  • @matthatter808 oyee panita me podrias contestar estas dos preguntitas jeje:D es sobre como creao un cuero humano yasea honbre omujer dodne debo darles y done consigo los plugin de maya 2011 y 3dmax porfavor ayudame xd

  • How do you get the feet to stay in place when translating the hip for animation ?

    thanks,

    Andy

  • Long story, but short answer is: Create some objects that control the feet IK end-effectors; create an object that controls the position/orientation of the hips; make sure those controlling objects are not in the same hierarchy.

  • @matthatter808 just sticky it?

  • @matthatter808 Wouldn't setting the IK to Sticky suffice?

  • how do i download this rig thing

  • How do you get other objects like her shoes or bra and gloves to work with the body rig?

  • don't you prefer to have the hands planted?

  • Not sure I understand the question. I usually set it up so they'll either move with the character's body or remain placed (planted?) depending on how you set your sliders. That way you can have it either way. Is this what you mean?

  • yes..that's what I meant! Every tutorial I've read..it says to leave the hands placed...so you can control it's transforms rapidly...but you do as you like..

  • Why not have your cake... and eat it too??? :)

  • did you paint weights on this?

  • Yes, but I didn't spend any time on it really... I just got it to a point where it would show off the rigging OK.

  • Me again, stupid limited character count.

As darknessrest123 was saying, your setup is good for you while our is good for us. That being said, personally I enjoy rigs that do not have a visible shape-control for ever function pivot. You could easily build in the "toe tap", the ball roll, and the toe roll of the foot into attributes that control null groups. If you'd like I can share this technique (though I'm sure there's a tutorial out there for it already). But again, to each their own.

  • Your dampening technique seems pretty cool. Would you mind sharing it with us? Also, I hadn't thought about building the FK control shapes inside the main heirarchy and leaving the IK controller outside the main body. Usually I build to "outside" control groups.

  • Hey... I'll try to get something together... or if you want, I can just describe how it works in writing???

  • Whatever is easiest for you. Though I'm sure more people with benefit if it's in video form :)

  • pretty good setup, but i enjoy my own personal way. personal is always best though right? yours is best for you, mine is best for me =) mine is pretty similar though

  • hey how did you make that hand thing you did? where you can make the hand stick to that othere icon.

  • Nice demonstration....

  • where can find tutorial how to rig this way. I just know how to set up bones and IK with arms and legs
